  • Happy Birthday Carl you're one of the best artist of all!! thanks 4 these awesome music and lyrics

  • What a shame they are no longer together. :-( So, where & what is Carl Mc Coy doing these days.? He had the most aswome vocals ever.Any feedback apppreciated as i can`t find anything about him.

  • @Gallifray666

Actually this group is still going on

  • He sounds exactly like Ian Curtis from Joy Division at the beginning of the track.

  • @tannerslomko No he does`nt McCoy has a unique Gothic & eary sound in his vioce Ian Curtis was more top ended. Carl was & is the best Gothic singer in the world NOT!!! Curtis.

  • i adore their entire discography.... those people are brilliant

  • This group TOTALLY ROCKS MY WORLD BEST in the world. Mc Coy what a vioce!!! Cant` wait for them to be on tour again.

  • top band top song ....long live the neph

  • I wish I could visit Sumerland.

  • If you have the Revelations DVD (the DVD version of the Morphic Fields VHS compilation), you can rip a digital copy of this song from that. That's about as good quality as you'll get for this version.

  • cult & roll!

  • I fuckin' love this song!

Does anyone know, is this version of "Sumerland" available on mp3? I own the single, but that version is different. And I especially love the one from the video. :)

  • I love all of FOTN's music, but this song in particular sends chills through me everytime, like there's some kind of energy drawing me in, making me want to be part of the music and the magick....

  • One of the great song!.....

  • i love this song, Elizium is full of surprises, I want that album is great! thx for posting this video.

  • who likes tinned rice pudding?

  • It is and it isn't. What I mean is that the Earth Inferno version is around eight minutes, but this version is also a cut version of the 'Sumerland' single. Both the single version and the Earth Inferno version are a bit diferent from the version that's on Elizium. I hope I answered your question.

  • @Dragonlizardwarrior7 It's insane that anyone can be annoyed by this. Damn people are lame.

  • Isn't that the Earth Inferno version of that song? I think the version on the original Album sounded different.

Or am I completely wrong here?

  • hah! , i didn't know they had a music video for this , thanks for posting.

  • One of the greatest...and unfortunately underrated goth bands of all time...great visual image...great sound...these guys broke the mold.

  • @darkstarthirteen They're still breaking it. ...still playing ... go to their website and support them.

  • O.o l WANT their CLOTHES. xD

Of course they're an amazing band too. I'm new to this band, but I really need to get into it. It's stunning!

  • @Dragonlizardwarrior7

You annoyed your classmates with this? They must all suck then... xD

  • Is it just me or there's Something sexy about this song..?

  • @talmilan I've always thought so as well

  • no other band quiet like it..they're a league of their own..

  • Questa e' musica !!

  • i love karl mccoy he is fantatic. big fan of fields of the nephilim. i am 18 and live in northern ireland. my name is melissa.

  • This band was heavily underrated...I have all the early material on vinly.

  • This band was heavly unrrated.

  • Just discovered this band, they are EXTREMELY UNDERRATED!!! Such an amazing atmosphere and Elizium is like one of the best fuckin albums ever made

  • @ANOLDMANONCRACK They are underated unfortunately. Elizium is an incredible album as well. You should also check out 'Revelations' as well, because it's got a longer and better version of 'For Her Light' on it.

  • @WolvesInferno As a third party I say that I prefer the original. Its tighter and the choir synths that come in at the middle dont do it for me. The outro of the revelations version is pretty win though!

  • @WolvesInferno

better they are underated. dont want to stand in the first row with 15years old kiddies ;-)

  • @Lyccan777 don`t forget that some 15years old kiddies also like good music, mister ;] i may be a kid,but i like much more FOTN than Disturbed or any modern band

  • @WolvesInferno I totally agree with you that The Fields of the Nephilim were highly underated as iconic gothic group. It`s such a shame that we don`t hear anything about them anymore Or at least v.little. now that as far as i know th Carl Mc Coy has left. that fastastic group.

  • @ANOLDMANONCRACK

It's never too late for discover FOTN! :)

Enjoy Elizium and all the others album :)

  • @ANOLDMANONCRACK

It's never too late for discover Fields of the Nephilim :)

Enjoy Elizium and all the others album

  • beautiful beautiful man!

  • gorgeous!! just simply gorgeous!!

  • Tremendous song-very dark and intriguing....

  • @CerberusvonOz

    Opinions are like onions....=)

Best voice ever!!, in my opinion.

  • @startover171 ...accept!!!

  • the firs time i heard them i knew id love their music. goodtimes.

  • Their sound is soo unique. No one else like them

  • this version is available on the Beggars Banquet Collection; search for it on Discogs

  • i'm hoping to play this song at an open mic night with my vocalist friend and hopefully we'd get a vid on youtube along with covers from opeth and maybe bauhaus or nosferatu

  • @elusivecure57 We're all hoping you don't!!! No, I'm only messing. ;0

  • @theghostofchristmasp open mic nights are one of the best ways to show the audience what you've got :P

  • This is their best song I think, of course in album version...

  • great bass line.

  • a place where I WILL BORN a god, a place with spiritual humanity and.............oh....

  • carl's voice give me the ticket to travel in a dream level, where dominate chaos and dissorder, place without rules

  • their best song ultimatly!

  • I would like to see Neffs on tour with Therion or Paradise Lost.

  • @Chaocracy they would do well with both bands and even cradle of filth back then

  • You will be in charge as soon you would stop denying there is a Anderswelt, Helheim, Hell, Styx, Psyche or what ever you want to call the world of spirits. And there you will find no evil creatures at all. Ancestors maybe... deep passion... and the lost might of your own soul.

  • Real Good Song of FOTN, my Fave.

    :) Nefilim A. D. from Eire...

  • they are coming to Portugal nest year...hell yahhhhhhhhhhhh i will take the depths of my soul

  • FotN do use imagery. But it is far older than the prevelant modern religions. 'Between the cracks and the hollows. The Earth is good.'

Their name comes from the Old Testament but understand who the legendary giants were.

But who really cares. There is nothing that comes close to The Fields of the Nephilim for sheer aural majesty :)

  • @GSVNotInventedHere Well put my friend. When it comes to the point about what's good and what's evil it's all about who's making the comment. This imagery used by Mccoy..pretty much from day one to the album " Mourning Sun" isn't about picking sides..good or evil...it's another level. However I think we can all agree on that The Nephilim have made some truly astonishing music yeah? ;-)...The good and evil subject has been around since the rise of man. There are things older than mankind.

  • whle I doubt McCoy eats babies the imagery is pretty dark, as is the lyrical content. For instance album artwork that features sentences like "the souls of those who quit the body violently are most pure" Its not that there treading a fine line is it? Though I haven't looked for what you are referring to so perhaps should shut up!

  • Counts only music.

    Nephilim 4 ever.

  • My friends! Fields is about a different understanding of life on earth for me. For you it's maybe something different. You can hate it or love it. Or you can fear it.

  • This video is packed with satanic/masonic and illuminati symbolism

  • You realize the Masons aren't Satanic right?

  • Yes they are.Just not on the surface.Research them properly and u will know

  • You're a tool caught up by internet paranoia. It's funny, one of my best buds is a mason and he's pretty much pointed out the only thing secret about them is their handshakes. I even found a "forbidden" book of theirs and to be honest, not an ounce of evil. Oh damn, they do good things for communities. At worst, one particular lodge wants you to believe in God to climb up the ladder. Stop being a paranoid shut in, there is no illuminati, the world isn't ending in 2012, FNORD.

  • Well said! However I would say that this vid IS full of symbolism simply for symbolism's sake....I love the Neph but their image is all about the darker and more sinister side of life....

  • You have no idea how they work.Ive been studying the mason and illuminati for 3 year's...borderline obsession. And they are satanic. You have no idea what there about.Being a mason does not mean you know what the real deal is.And dont put me in the end of the world 2012 nuts.Believing that crap is nuts.I do proper research and do not speculate. There is a ton of evidence that points to satanism and theres a reason why you MUST have a religion to join them.

Masonary started off pure, but now its not.

  • epos!!!! great song from one of my favourite bands...

  • xD

    xD

    xD

    xD

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

  • Das geilste Lied, das je geschrieben wurde....

  • Magnífico!!!!

  • fav band <3

  • this be my sumer song......classic!

  • You are right in every way!! It's on my MP3 and always gets turned up full blast, especially when tearing about on my mo'bike. A definite FAST song...

  • Does anyone have the Dreamed version lyrics? ( I have the elizium lyrics but they are a bit different) Thanks

  • This is a great video, a true classic but why oh why did he take off the psycho/welder/mad_scientist glasses at the end? It is the one and only blemish on an otherwise perfect video.

  • eyes got tired

  • This track and video is art!!!

  • class act ,excellent video

  • Love this song and video - thanks for posting it. FotN is amazing.

Also, I have an ulterior motive for this comment - does ANYONE have the "Dead to the World - The Way We Were - Thirst" mp3 they'd be willing to send me?

I lost the hard drive I had it on, and I miss it like mad. My appreciation will be expressed in the form of cookies and/or my eternal devotion.

  • Was this single version actually released on anything other than as part of the video? The only Sumerland single I've ever seen was vinyl, and I was under the assumption that it was the 11 minute version, and I haven't seen Sumerland on any of the compilation albums. I like this version better though.

  • There is a CD single, BEG 250 CD with 3 tracks on it:

    Sumerland (Dreamed Version) (8:45)

    Phobia (live)

    The Watchman (live)

  • I have this version of the song, which is just over 8mins. I can send to you if you want, because it is very very very hard to get hold of.

  • @WolvesInferno If you don't mind, and if you still have this version, would you mind sending it to me? I understand if you're too busy, so whatever works.

  • @WolvesInferno ive got it on 12" record

  • @WolvesInferno I would love it if you could send it to me. I can't find it anywhere. Please can you send it to me?

  • @swerve1349 I have the CD single of Sumerland, and it has an 8:34 version with a different intro called the "Dreamed Version." I actually like the album version the best.

  • @swerve1349 Good point. When it came out I remember running around quite a few record shops in Ayrshire and Glasgow and I'm sure there were at least 4 different versions released, some were EPs with 4 songs, including a 4 minute version like this. Others were 12" with 8 minute versions and there was possible a CD that mixed all these. Still, great song, not that it is important but interesting it got to number 37 in UK charts.

  • @swerve1349

I think it's the version you can listen to on "Earth Inferno", the live album..

  • First time for me to hear & see Nephilim -- I only knew their name -- I'm positively surprised.

  • FANTASTIC!!! Can't wait till july! THe Nephs are headlining the first day of Amphi Festival in Cologne. I am sooo there. Any of you people going?

  • Yes, I will be there too!

See you in the front row then ;)

  • Awesome!

  • Fotn is fucking great.

  • fields of the nephilim are beyond only to be gothik...they are genius!

  • goth!

  • Love this song!

  • i see no heaven..

  • yeah that's the guy

  • Simply beautiful. The music is so... dreamy. FOTN truly is one of the greatest bands ever.

  • This is one of my favourite bands ever...his voice takes me to the dream of the lyrics.

  • "By the roots of my soul I am losing control..take the dream!"

    Woderful!!!!!!

    Truly, deeply loving you Carl....

  • Cool to see a neph fan is the first person I've seen to spell "losing" correctly on youtube :)

However, I think that the lyric is actually "loosing." It's one of those phonetic blends Carl uses more than once in his lyrics, so the ambiguity is probably intentional. But "loosing" is far more powerful to me, because it implies that the loss of control is *voluntary* - he is allowing himself to be subsumed by the feeling.

I believe the lyrics printed on the Elizium sleeve will corroborate this.

  • totally agree with you, sometimes he sings a word and it sounds like it could be another, i hope i explained well im not native english speaker...p.s.:for each nephilim fan is the elizium sleeve a must, since then i "understood" their music...elizium is a masterpiece

  • agreed :) Elizium is their best work.

McCoy is a master of the misheard lyric :) I'm suprised there isn't a few funny-captioned Neph interpretations on youtube (well I can't find any).

  • Actually there is, i've seen a video right here on YT a while ago with just that, misheard Neph lyrics. Some were very funny

  • such a great song, shame that noobtoob HAXX it to bits with their LAG

  • its so much different than the album version!

  • This song is awesome, one of my favorite Nephilim songs.

The video is completely ridiculous yet incredibly cool at the same time.

  • Damn. Great. But the Elizium's complete version is still so much better!

  • umm no it isnt, NADA beats the "Dreamed" version, the only other song apart from Joy Divisions LWTUA that gives me goosies :)

  • Absolutely YES.

  • Classic!
