I have a question for all Calvinists! If God willed men to go to hell by divine election, why did He say He is not willing that any should perish? Is God a liar? Another Question. I have heard people preach to me about hell and fire and i did not think I sinned and believed i was working hard. It was not until I was told that Jesus died for me and my sin and that he was a loving God that I found Jesus. Since this I have realised I am a sinner and need to repent. But a lot of people today think they don't need a saviour they don't know what sin is. They listen to the world and think they are fine by the worlds standard. I agree mate - it was through friendship, through care, through genuine Christians just being friends with me though I had done nothing to deserve it. @meangreen4321 Not quite. People are punished for breaking God's law. This only makes sense if there would be life in keeping the law. It's true that any who keep God's law perfectly will live, but no one does, and God knew that would be the case.
Re the video quote, you'll notice that none of these verses say that they will "save" or otherwise redeem someone who has broken the law.

I was simply showing from the Bible itself that God indeed intended the law to save. Obey the law of God and live, disobey and die. What you present is a theological reinterpretation based on passages in the New Testament, but they don't change what God said beforehand.

To summarise, NO ONE can keep the law and that's what Paul also said in Romans, saying that Christ HAS FULFILLED for us. We just have to have faith in HIM and be "justified". We follow Christ commandment of LOVE. That's clearly mentioned in the Gospel of John.
@meangreen4321 "The Law was never intended to save" simply means, we're not saved by keeping The Law. If we could be saved by keeping the Law, there would be no need for Christ's death, burial and Resurrection. Thus, we're ONLY saved by the Grace of God through Faith -- not by keeping the Law.
But Jews don't believe this, and they use the so-called "old testament" to back their claims with verses like the ones I mentioned from Psalms, Proverbs and Deuteronomy.
Simply put.....at one time, God intended the law to save. Ultimately, I'm saying that Christianity has interpreted the old testament to suit their doctrines. I do believe at some time that the Jews realized that it was impossible to keep the whole law perfectly, but earlier they did believe it was possible to be declared "righteous under the law".

Good works and "righteousness under the law" the fruit of one's Right-Relationship with God. Keeping the Law cames as a result of one's love for God, thus one being "declared righteous". If "God intended the law to save," why did Christ die and why have temple sacrifices?? Your argument doesn't make sense because it doesn't address most of the Bible!!
I will look into this further... your points are good. But you can't deny that God expected the law to be fully obeyed... as the verses I posted above show. The verses do seem to conclude that such obedience would "save" a person.
Step back for a moment and look at the entirety of the Old Testament. Is the unfolding of the story of Israel one of a people who ever kept or were able to keep God's law? Were we not meant to notice?

Remember that when these verses were written, the Jews were not yet looking for a Messiah to atone for sins... the sacrifices were of the old religion, but during the years of the prophets, it was proclaimed that God did not desire them anymore. When we love Him, we can't help but do our best to keep the Law even though keeping the Law is not necessary for Salvation. Sure we'll struggle and fall. There's this little force called gravity, that's pulling the Earth towards the Sun, and the Sun towards the Earth. The Earth isn't hanging, it's orbiting the Sun, constantly falling towards it.

You're getting astronomy and astrology mixed up. Stars are huge burning balls of hydrogen and helium, that are undergoing constant nuclear fusion, as the particles, compressed by gravity, collide at really high speed. They don't direct people to specific events, they don't predict the future.

THOROUGHLY RESEARCH these fossils and you'll realize that they don't merely "look kinda like" something else--they clearly demonstrate morphological change.

But I dont think any atheist is really trying to prove that God doesnt exist, but instead they are proving that the things that were previously explained by the presence of a deity, can be explained without God. @ragetoca From what i know of Jesuit catholic spirituality, you've amost got it, but it is not a physical place, but more a state of consciousness, where one is indeed separated from God. It is a description of an unfulfilled life that is not living as Jesus did, in love. The idea that is a physical location like a prison is a very old medieval misinterpretation of Jesus's message.
Christianity is mainly based on the New Testament, which is a story of a forgiving God. Hellfire wasn't really a focal point of Christianity until the middle ages when churches needed people to stick around to keep the church in power.

Actually... this is the MOST religious this Country has ever been. During the times of the founding fathers, less people went to church and less often. This is the age of a political faith in the US, and I have reason to believe that is why the country is regressing... we are tunring into a more fundamental sect of faith... similar to the middle east. Fortunately, the secular leaders (religious or not) have tried their best to keep god out of the governing.

This world would be so awesome if everyone believed in God. We would have no thieves, no liars, no haters, no murderers, no rapists. Guess that's why we look forward to heaven. We are saved by the grace of God but must do the works of obedience to the law. Not that the law will save us but that we become righteous by obedience. It is good that we have the lower law of the 10 commandments but better yet it is to live by the two greatest commandments; love God with totally and love our neighbor as ourselves.

That being the case I sincerely doubt that there is any such being, as the evidence suggests strongly against it.
This should not suggest that life is meaningless however, or that there are no consequences for our actions, or that we should act selfishly.

I have heard people preach to me about hell and fire and i did not think I sinned and believed i was working hard. It was not until I was told that Jesus died for me and my sin and that he was a loving God that I found Jesus. Since this I have realised I am a sinner and need to repent. You will not want to change unless you believe and If you do not believe then you will not repent.

I agree mate - it was through friendship, through care, through genuine Christians just being friends with me though I had done nothing to deserve it. Through the care of older Christians who looked after me. I guess without me trusting them I would never have gone to bible study with them, or bothered to look into Christianity anymore.

@meangreen4321 Not quite. People are punished for breaking God's law. This only makes sense if there would be life in keeping the law. It's true that any who keep God's law perfectly will live, but no one does, and God knew that would be the case.
Re the video quote, you'll notice that none of these verses say that they will "save" or otherwise redeem someone who has broken the law.

@meangreen4321 I agree with the the brother who says that mankind CANNOT be saved through the Law. This is "theological interpretation". It's very clear in the Bible. Please Mathew chapters 5 to 7. Also Romans chapters 2 to 5.
To summarise, NO ONE can keep the law and that's what Paul also said in Romans, saying that Christ HAS FULFILLED for us. We just have to have faith in HIM and be "justified". We follow Christ commandment of LOVE. That's clearly mentioned in the Gospel of John.

Simply put.....at one time, God intended the law to save. Ultimately, I'm saying that Christianity has interpreted the old testament to suit their doctrines. I do believe at some time that the Jews realized that it was impossible to keep the whole law perfectly, but earlier they did believe it was possible to be declared "righteous under the law".

Good works and "righteousness under the law" the fruit of one's Right-Relationship with God. Keeping the Law cames as a result of one's love for God, thus one being "declared righteous". If "God intended the law to save," why did Christ die and why have temple sacrifices?? Your argument doesn't make sense because it doesn't address most of the Bible!!

When we love Him, we can't help but do our best to keep the Law even though keeping the Law is not necessary for Salvation. Sure we'll struggle and fall. However, our heart's desire will be to obey what He's commanded and please & worship Him. Bottom Line: There's no Salvation through the Law but there is obedience to the Law with Salvation.

- There's no Hebrew word for "spherical", that passage, before being translated, said the Earth was round. It doesn't specify whether or not it was a globe. Either way, the Earth has been known to be spherical since Eratothenes measured the curvature of the Earth using shadows at the same time of the day in Alexandria and somewhere else, think it began with a C.

You're getting astronomy and astrology mixed up. Stars are huge burning balls of hydrogen and helium, that are undergoing constant nuclear fusion, as the particles, compressed by gravity, collide at really high speed. They don't direct people to specific events, they don't predict the future.

There will always be gaps in the fossil record, but the fossils we do have fit in with what we'd expect. Second, we don't need the fossil record to verify evolution at all, there are other independent lines of evidence that support it, such as ERV markers, or chromosomal fusion.

It's impossible for us to find every transitional fossil. Why? Fossilization is an extremely rare process that only few species will undergo. That means our fossil record is sure to have millions of "holes" in it (or more). However, there are some great fossils available to us: Tiktaalik, Eusthenopteron, Ambulocetus, Eohippus, Miohippus. THOROUGHLY RESEARCH these fossils and you'll realize that they don't merely "look kinda like" something else--they clearly demonstrate morphological change.

But I dont think any atheist is really trying to prove that God doesnt exist, but instead they are proving that the things that were previously explained by the presence of a deity, can be explained without God. Like the origin of the universe and the subsequent origin of life. I really don't think evolution is something worth fighting anymore, we just need to accept it because the links have all been found.

It is a description of an unfulfilled life that is not living as Jesus did, in love. The idea that is a physical location like a prison is a very old medieval misinterpretation of Jesus's message.

Actually... this is the MOST religious this Country has ever been. During the times of the founding fathers, less people went to church and less often. This is the age of a political faith in the US, and I have reason to believe that is why the country is regressing... we are tunring into a more fundamental sect of faith... similar to the middle east. Fortunately, the secular leaders (religious or not) have tried their best to keep god out of the governing.

The Greek word for believe comes from a root word with the connotation "to entrust" or "trust in" and is related to "faith". I attended Maranatha ministry in1983 and Holmberg was a leader at Maranatha. I listened to his teaching there. How can this man tell LIE that he never attend a Maranatha. Holmberg doesn't feel a shame to tell lie. How can he do that. Bible again speaks the truth, Satan is a father of Lie. Praise the Lord. Holmberg don't feel no shame.

Eric never said he DIDN'T attend a Maranatha church ... Just because you did something in THE PAST doesn't mean you are doomed to forever be labeled as being PART of it FOREVER... I was once Catholic, but I am no longer a Catholic. You can't accuse me of being a member of a Catholic church now.
Grasp this - 1983-89 was 27-20 YEARS AGO. You are a disturbed stalker to hold onto things that happened 27 years ago & go around making slanderous comments about a man NO LONGER in Maranatha.

I've just gotten off the phone with him and his wife. You say you personally know him very well? What's his dog's name? Is he a night person or a morning person? His wife is my best friend. I talk to her nearly every day on the phone - ask them if you know them so well. Liars don't inherit the Kingdom of God.

Interesting that especially SuperJsmith12 looks like he started a YouTube account specifically to slam a man he obviously has no knowledge of - if he knew Eric (and I do) he would not say such things. Eric has NEVER used mind control (could SuperJ be a little PARANOID?) Puh-lease.
As for namsorr25, that is pretty strong accusation about Mansfield and Grant. Do you have proof of what you accuse them of?

Gospel Transformation? Mansfield - Divorced due to his own anger and greatest accomplishment "talking his wife into marrying him"? Grant - didn't meet the qualifications of having his own household faithful, leading others astray and getting kicked out of his own school? The gospel you rightly stand for could easily be better represented in your video than those two mixed-message carriers. They messed up a marriage and some kids - it doesn't get any more basic than that. Re-edit the video.

I have to say I support the message of this video.
We are saved by the grace of God but must do the works of obedience to the law. Not that the law will save us but that we become righteous by obedience. It is good that we have the lower law of the 10 commandments but better yet it is to live by the two greatest commandments; love God with totally and love our neighbor as ourselves.
We find peace in doing as God commands, the rewards are immediate and in the change it brings to ourselves.

Yeah, tell that to a gay teen. If they take your evangelical message seriousle then he/she will probably live a lonely, self-hating life, land themselves in a loveless marriage, or commit suicide. The idea of righteousness through obedience to the bible is poison. Human reason an ethics are best for solving human problems.
