It's a shame they scrapped CRT's as they were improving all the time and also getting slimmer and they also last a lot longer than LCD's which only seem to have a life span of 3 years at most. I've got a Sony CRT TV that's 17 years old and still working. Wish I could say the same about LCD's. I've had two and they only lasted 3 years.
I totally agree. CRTs may have been big and heavy but at least back then we didn't have to worry about shit like dead pixels, banding, ghosting, light bleeding, and all of the other horrible problems that plague LCDs.
Mine completely failed just over a year after owning with no parts support from Sharp. I now own a $2000 paperweight. Tons of problems with these 62u's. Either the power supply or the main lcd controllers are failing. Who wants a replacement that is going to have the same issues and no warranty? I want a lawsuit!
I just ordered the aquos 5u version....tell me, how is it??? good or what, cant find any reviews....and the price was too good to be true for a 46inch 1080p lcd set.....1000 dollars
definitely see the banding. Unfortunately Sharp Aquos is known for this problem. It's all over the net. Damn that sucks, I was wondering why they had gone down so much in price. I was going to buy one today too.
ive been looking into a tv for the past 3 months and theres always 1 person to bitch about a certain brand .. so far sharp for lcd and panasonic for plasma look like the way to go .. ive prolly read over 100 reviews, and DLP is just a huge problem dont even think about it

@chockimon
No argument here that CRTs are more reliable, but every LCD I've owned is still fully functional, 5 of which are 5 years or older.
Also, banding isn't an issue with all LCDs -- mostly older Sharp LCDs are affected.

LCD 's suck. Most suffer from horrendous banding. Bring back CRT's.
