i play as sicily and i cant get pope to take me back. i conqured rome after he exomunicated me for crushing venice but now i everybodys in a crusade against me and even altrought i build a lot of churches the old mother****** aint reconciling me(i havent killed christians in a while aswell). If Rome is mine where is the Pope so i can kill him and end the exomunication? plz reply and help guys i cant fight everyone on my own.

@FEAR709 well when you take rome and kill the pope he'll be re-elected and spawn near rome, i always send a few troops from rome to kill him then which is possible within the turn he spawns. then kill him as often as you like until one of your cardinals is selected as pope and you will be recommunicated

Too bad none of CA's Normans look like William the Conqueror's dudes, even at the start date of 1080. I really was disappointed to see that the game didn't have the Dark Ages, but i'ts a good game nonetheless.

How do you play as another faction in campaign besides france,england,venice,spain,an­d the HRE?

If you want to play another faction, there are 3 options:

1- kill a faction in the campagne missions, then you can play with that faction

2- complete the campagne with 1 of the factions, that you'll have all the playeble faction.

3- change something in the gamefiles, I don't know how this works but it's possible.

its not hard to change those files. just go to

C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\data\world\maps\campaign\i­mperial_campaign

go to the file named descr_strat and copy paste the section that says unlock able to the playable section. u can copy paste papel states there too from nonplayable section

yeah england is the easiest faction to control actually try playing as the HRE or the byzantines everyone will try to conquer you or try playing as egypt

instead of making large seige towers, i usually make 2 or 4 ladders and send a lighting attack on the opponents walls with most of my infantry. I then move up my archers behind them to attack enemy soldiers on the walls. However, i only recommend this strategy with a force of 10 or more units

can someone help me? i downloaded the mod normans and saxons for gold when its done theres a moded descr_strat and the other one called descr_win_con once i choose a faction in the grand campaing it comes back at the menu i realy want to play as the saxons badly please reply if some of you knows what to do

Well, for one, save backup files of the original files.

Also, make sure the modded files are saved under the name of the previous files.

That should do the trick.

when you press search there will be medieval 2 total war and kingdoms(choose whitch you want,but if you want Sicily,choose the simple 1).

there will be alot of mods,but beware,if you see a german mod,DO NOT DOWNLOAD(it's on the first page of the mods and the all factions mod is on the last page)

Rofl you just have to go to your med2 folder, then on the folder worlds->maps->campaign->imperi­al campaign and start "descr_strat" with an editor, then change what you want.... or just WIN with one of the 5 factions :S

yep,in descr_strat you cut the faction you want from "unlockable" list or something like that and paste it under "playable",dont try this with non-lpayable factions or you will get kinda fucked up,except with papal states

the only reasons i think rome doesnt suck is because of the time the game takes place and because you can view your cities out of battle. The graphics are horrible, but for a 2004 game its good, but people saying it has the same graphics as MTW2 thats just exaggeration.

Pitty the AI went down a massive step between Rome TW and M2TW. It's a real shame. Hopefully SEGA will check out the total wars forums and fix the problems in the emergancy patch. The game is great, looks beautifull but the AI really is utterly useless.
