@peamealbaconrules Hm, I don't think they were opposed to the fundamental elements of capitalism (buy, own, sell etc.) but I think they were against big business primarily which is an understandable approach I guess.
@DerekMcA I think when the first lyrics off of your breakout record are "I've got a bone to pick with capitalism, and a few to break", it's pretty clear you have an obvious disdain for capitalism.
@davethehostage Well, yeah. Wasn't denying that they disdained capitalism, I was pointing out that the big business aspect of capitalism was probably what they were severely against. Another one of the first lyrics off of their breakout record was, "I took the first bus out of coca-cola city" yeah?
@peamealbaconrules: reeducate yourself through work. or pay attention to what Dennis' lyrics. Or, give up commenting things on YouTube and go and read Marx or Debord, if that matters.

Sure it does. Where do you think that money comes from? Who is going to produce the wealth needed for survival? Without capitalism to produce the wealth, socialism is dead in the water.
Yeah, if you've read "Refused Are Fucking Dead," their last communique, they basically say the reason they broke up was because they had to be part of the system they hated in order to exist. But yeah, I noticed that as odd too. But they do need money to exist and obviously want people to buy their music.
I find it hilarious how most people in this bar react to this band much in the same way as I would if a guy called Jesus ever came back to earth and started walking among us.... "oh, so he did exist after all..oh well..mines a pint"
Dennis is still with The (International) Noise Conspiracy, and the other guys were in TEXT, which was very avant-garde and all over the place last time i checked them out.
T(I)NC put out a stellar album in 'New Morning, Changing Weather' back in like 2001, and are supposed to have something for us in 2008.
Dennis broke up with t(i)nc a long time ago, like in 2003 or 4 i dont remember, since that, he's playing with his new band 'The Lost Patrol Band' check em out on burning heart, i think their drummer is refused one, i can't recall his name, but he plays with one of the randy's guys and some other people.
if u're more into xhcx u wont like em, kuz they play like an old 60 rock and roll band, with pop stuff and shit, it's pretty good, but u know, if u're just for xhcx u wont like em

One of the many reasons why they broke up was exactly that...
they couldn't reconcile they're leanings towards anti-capitalism and anarchist sentiments with their musical career/label
