  • Both versions and the live 75th are great!. However i think this is the best. What a song.

  • Love this song!!! great artist on this record R.I.P Ray Charles and Nick Ashford

  • awww Brandy sounds so cute! LOL

  • Uhm. Where does 1 begin w/ this? Q remaking himself as he does from time to time, with great result. This is the REAL FUNKY 'Qs Jook Joint' vers ft Ray Charles, Chaka Khan, Charlie Wilson & Brandy on lead vocals. Chaka was on the original as were composers Ashford & Simpson who are in the background mix here also, w/ Patti Austin etc etc etc. Quincy has such a unique gift for putting seemingly diverse elements/genres together & amazingly always making it work! LOL.

  • QUincy Produced both versions

  • Go Brandy! I hear ya girl, betta sang!!

  • legend !

  • Yuck.. this version not so good!!!!! the original is so much better!!

  • Incredible......what a great sound!!!!

  • I hate this version. The original is way more Soulful!

  • It's easy to see how Michael Jackson joined Quincy's band....this is Thriller wound back ....

  • It's easy to see how Michael Jackson joined Quincy's band....

  • LOOOVE THIS SONG!! Q's Jook Joint is my fav Album!!!!

  • Yes!!!

  • Can anybody help me, I'm looking for a version of this song that I can't find on YouTube at all!! It's not the faster one, it's realllly similar to this one, but still kind of different. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

  • @HollysHopeless the other version i recall from when i was in highschool. it was still quincy jones. chaka khan backing up.

  • @ERIELACKU34CH Nope, it's not that one... It's almost exactly the same as this one, just a few minor differences. I only want to find it b/c I'm doing a tap dancing solo to it, and I want to be able to practice.

  • @HollysHopeless as a matter of fact, just type in stuff like that chaka khan, it's right there.

  • INDEFATIGABLE QUINCY!

  • I remember reading in the liner notes that Brandy ran out of the recording studio once Chaka turned it up a notch....I can believe it...

  • Just love this!!!!!

  • Another version is found on Quincy's album "Sounds" from 1978

  • This is the original. I don't recall anyone else doing this? Wasn't this the name of the LP? And thank you for sharing it.

  • @Bobsyermomsuncle--Quincy Jones remade it and put it on his 1995 Juke Joint album. The singers on this version are: Brandy, Chaka Khan, Charlie Wilson, Ashford & Simpson, and Ray Charles.

  • @k4jesus Who is doing the SAX SOLO?

  • is that brandy sining lol, this gotta b a remake..i like it though lol

  • this is from Q's Juke Joint

  • Sounds like Brandy on vocals.

  • Great....

  • Great stuff.

  • pure classic

  • pure classc

  • This jam has it all. Quincy has been around a long time making music to make your heart dance. What makes me feel like doin' stuff like dat? Got to be the music.

  • Quincy Jones used to remix his own songs.

  • Hit #1 soul, #21 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • Wow I love this R&B song version better than the orignal one it's so cool.

  • What are you talking about - this is even better than the '78 version - listen to Chaka and Brandi do it!

  • On this cd Quincy said when Chaka hit that high note she chased Brandy out of the studio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i remember being kind of mad when my dad would play this on the "Juke Joint" CD. Hip Hop had slowed everybody's tempo by then, lol. It was still good, Charlie and them sounded good, but I'd rather hear my old 1978 version.

  • Fantastico !

    Grazie

    Sal

  • wtf? love the original but what is this ?

  • Shnen this is a remake from the 90's it is on his cd "Q's Jook Joint"

  • @shnen2 This is a updated version of his classic featuring Chaka Khan,Brandy Norwood,Charlie Wilson,Ray Charles.

  • @shnen2

the original is done by Ashford and Simpson , Shaka Khan and someone said MJ did some of the backing vocals ....The song was included on Jones' 1978 album Sounds...And Stuff Like That!.

this particular version is from the 1995 album Q's Jook Joint where the song is tweaked .... vocals include y Ashford & Simpson, Khan, Brandy, Charlie Wilson and Ray Charles while Greg Phillinganes was playing keyboards

    love both versions ....

  • impossible to hold still when this is playing!

  • this is just so fabulous thank you for posting and uploading ... just move and sway those hips and enjoy...quincy is fabulous...4 ever..

  • It kicks, every last bit of it does!

  • Brandy is cute but she can't come behind Chake. They could have left this alone.

  • @phillyTne agreed Brandy can't touch that woman no way no how never!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ashford & Simpson w/ Chaka khan

  • VERY VERY NICE.....

  • I love this song.Q's jook joint is my favorite cd by him.

    Love Chaka my fav.female vocalist.

  • What a great version. How come I never heard this before? I'm no kid. Did I miss something?

Q ma man. Without Q, who knows what would have ever become of MJ....

  • I never really listened to Brandy, but she has a sweet little voice. I guess that now that she is older that her voice is a little deeper. She's got the chops here though. In my opinion she holds her end up.

  • very g00d s0ng i l0ve it :)

  • QQQQQQQ is WOW!

  • I think each version has somethin to it...

Nothin beats the original that's for damn certain but u can't blame this one either ... Q is a genius!

  • CHOOOON

  • A slowed down version that is good but not better than the original but as usual, Q, hits the nail on the head.

  • This is from the "Juke Joint" album. This version features Ray Charles, Charlie Wilson (from the Gap Band), Chaka Kahn, and Brandy!

  • Brandy shouldnt have been added to this mix

  • she does need to get off of here. Her voice is no where near as mature as chakas.

  • I second that emotion. I basically made the same comment and then saw yours.

  • The original is the best but this one will do in a pinch.

  • My mother used to play the original 1978 version all of the time.

  • This is okay, but the original is much better.

  • Well my bro, thats tru but this is also good stuff!

  • It is! I enjoy listening to his version.

  • Enjoy my brother

  • The original version is on the album, Sounds, and stuff like that. It is the shit. This is a nice remake with Quincy's boy, Roy Charles singing. The girls vocals, which I think is brandy, is nice but not as mature or as good as Valerie Simpson and Chaka singing in original.

  • I don't know. But I do not know another version.

  • There are older version.

Anyway, thank you posting this,I like this version.

  • The song was originally instrumental. Quincy added lyrics for this version. Sexy song - thanks for posting.

  • Another version is found on Quincy's album "Sounds" from 1978

  • @dusz1974

there is another version that is a llittle faster and has chaka kahn singing the female part.

  • Is this Remix version?

  • Great, Q jook joint is a good album
