Heard this song at a Church servcice following a Workers Memorial Day event last year. I didn't even realise the event was going to finish in a church. Such a beautiful hymn though. I live in the UK, a fairly secular country but this made me want to go to church. I'm nominally protestant but no one in my family attends church. Definitely need to find a fellowship.

@PortavogieChristian i got saved august 14.....but.....i backslid.....my heart truly yearns to be who i once was......i used to preach play, my guitar in church, i don't count the people that ive led to Christ but it really changed my heart......i couldn't fight the temptations and now once again i am back as the prodigal son......hhmmm........it breaks my heart writing this......i try not to think about it but i woke up singing this and i had to hear it.....God help me

@TheRomanskil Pray to the Lord to help you with the temptations and He will help you. It will be hard because Satan has drawn you into the things of the world again. The great thing is that you are still a child of God, you are still redeemed and you are still washed with the blood of Jesus. Keep your eyes on the Lord. Pray, hang out with Christian friends (fellowship is important), talk to your minister, talk to people in your church, read the Bible and don't hang around with non-Christians.

He did die for our sins 2000 years ago, but that doesn't make us all automatically saved. A person who doesn't trust Christ as Saviour is not saved regardless of what he did on the cross.

An anacrusis is an upbeat.

The anacrusis version is like this

So the first beat of every line in the lyrics actually corresponds with the last beat of the bar, and the phrase ends mid bar, making the fourth beat the upbeat or anacrusis.

I think it's a lot nicer than this one which is more contrived
