People say Nadal has more variety now, i don't see any difference from 2007, maybe learnt the flat serve. Looks like Federer and competition weakened with quality like monfils, fish and melzer able to enter top 10. Gonzalez, roddick, safin, hewitt, haas, nalbandian, agassi were more talented players.
@JackieChannnny not at all, I am a Djokovic fan, but as you can see by there being no "made by conziborg2" in the video description means i did not make it
Another hard court beating from the man who wrote the book on how to beat Rafa on hard courts. Djokovic has beaten Rafa seven out of of ten on hard courts and in my opinion gave the entire tour the blueprint for how to beat him - hyigh looping forehand to rafa's backhand then power it cross court. Murray adopted the same strategy and he's taken Rafa four of the last five.
amazing how djokovic can beat nadal one week after his defeat in indian wells, I guess because this is quarter final and not a final, djokovic never had beaten nadal in finals or grand slam events, that is something important, that makes so impressive nadal head to head against federer and so irrelevant the head to head of murray against fegerer sorry for my bad english
Wow, this was a great highlight reel to watch with Nadal and Djokovic really hammering away at each other in this match. I am actually attending the final of this tournament this year, and hopefully one of these two will be in the final vs either Federer or Murray.
murray's return is more consistent, but he does less with it, both nadal and djokovic put more on it, also you gotta remember murray has been playing his best tennis all year while nadal has played some bad tourneys and djok only a few good ones, he has been really unconsistent, so as he is off form his return isnt as good, IMO on his day djok has best return
nadal has won the most return games this year and last making him the best, he has won the most even though he has not been at his best for large part of the year, Murray is 2nd and he has been at his best all season
@conziborg2 Nadal's returning game is only statistically good at the end of the year mostly because of clay. His returning game on the other surfaces, especially on hard is quite poor. They land near the middle of the court and have spin on them. Top players eat those alive. Currently for this year, the only stat Nadal is in the top 5 for, is break point conversions. But returning 1st serves, he is right now #13 (Federer/Djokovic = #2/3), and returning second 2nd serves Nadal is #6.
@AllGenreMusic Thats a good point but he can still break any serve on any surface. This is also probably due to his great defence and ability to get back into the point.
@AllGenreMusic I think we can talk about two points of view in returning games, there are players like nadal and ferrer who are good returning because almost every seve is in play and not free points, and from the baseline they are hard to beat, and in the other hand we have nalbandian hewitt, these players are very agressive returning and playing fast cause they use the oponnents power to increase the speed,
@cuarteto6x8 Eh, Ferrer is a better returner than Nadal overall on all surfaces. Nadal does return well, but he has an issue reading big servers. I would say Hewitt is more of the type of player to get the returns in rather than going for an outright return winner. Nalbandian is just tremendous regardless, he can't be categorized. He is certainly up there with Agassi/Connors as the best service returners of all time in terms of getting the ball back in play and hitting return winners.
@AllGenreMusic Yeah his 3-0 head to head against Karlovic, 5-3 over Roddick, 10-0 over Verdasco and 2-0 over Isner really demonstrate your "issue reading big servers" point beautifully.
even if i am a nadal fan i must say nole played amazing everyting was perfect his serve his groundstrokes his volley everyting he played better than nadal (rafas outfit is amazing)
is it just me or is nadal hitting his forehand with much more power than this time in miami and indian wells 2009? His backhand definitely has improved 2x times from 07.
this match was good but the last game was unbelievable nadal gives his champion heart iven if he lost the game. i think this match was the start of novak djokovic. great highlight conzi!
yes it was undoubtly the match that gave djokovic the confidence/self belief for the rest of the year. And nadal showed that he will fight for every single point. The last game was unbeleivable, both players playing great(check out my video of it:))

I do admire both as a role model of tennis. Djokovic has the tiniest upperhand in serve, but nadal's return evens it out.
Forehand is nadal's without question. Their backhand is even. Volleying is quite even aswell. I think footwork is Nadals.
Cheer on djokovic and nadal. <33
huangyishi 2 years ago
in my opinion djoko has a better return..
