@FM3Champs Uhh, offroad h-pipe, flowmasters, and 410 gears. The engine was extremely tired and needed freshened up hardcore. The tires are 275/60/15 Mickey Thompson ET Streets on stock 10 holes which are 15x7.
@julianbusty The Saturn is like a 98 or something. You do know the mustang has the engine work done though right? The Saturn is not my car. It all depends what you want to do. I got a gasket/bearing/piston/etc kit from summit for $6xx. I also did an h/c/i and MAF conversion. I probably spent $3000-$4000. I didn't do it right though.
Corrected again. Early TBI SOHC motors were 85 HP. After I believe 94 ALL SOHC went to MPFI and were rated for 100 HP. DOHC motors never changed much HP wise.
If you must have an SC2. I heard of people putting the 5th gear from a 1 series and getting better gas milage and a better top speed. You should be able to do about 138 mph. If that doesn't then you'll need to mod for more power. Also change the tires. The stock tires can only handle about 125 mph according to the manual.
Stock ECU in SX2 series are limited to 127 MPH. So unless you had a hacked ECU or full stand alone you wouldn't have to worry about going over 125 mph often.
But if you change the 5th gear then you should be able to go faster with fewer RPM's. Thus obtaining the higher speeds with the same rev-limit, right? Also, the SW2 and the SL2 are rev limited at 108 mph. The SC2 is the only S-series limited around 125.
Correct correct and correct! I must have wrote that when I woke up lol And yes that is a very good idea! Swap a MP2 final 5th into a MP3. Sounds like it might work. Also, going to a bigger tire size will increase top speed, but you would need a GPS to know how fast you actually are going.
its not a rev limiter though so the taller gears won't affect the limiter. You need more power to get much above 130 and at that time you will be beyound bolt ons and want to run a standalone anyways.
Heck yes man, I've beat stock stangs in my (lightly) modded SC2, no boost, no juice, just pure N/A power baby, showing those 5.0's where it's at, lol.
what mods did u have and what tire was on the back

Saturn is an auto. Low 16 is about right then no matter what you throw at the engine.

you are right
but i wasn't thinking clearly because my friend has an sohc from 89
heck, mine died 2 weeks ago anyway, got a chevy lumina w/ a 3.5 (not stock)
cmanrocs 3 years ago
lol dude, Saturn didn't start producing cars until 1991... did you mean 99?
Frostman182 3 years ago
yea, the 1.9 twin cam is what i have but its only 100hp which isnt a problem since the car only weighs in at 1200lbs.
put a turbo in it and it flies until you get to 126. then the dang computer shuts down, gotta find out how to get that little "problem" fixed.
cmanrocs 3 years ago
your info is off-124hp at dohc motor, around 2400lbs. the sohc has 100hp

The VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is read off of the differential. So once it hits the ECU limit, it cuts fuel.
But you are right, if you really need to go faster than stock you are definitely looking at full standalone.
Frostman182 2 years ago
yeah i see what you're saying, all aside, it takes a stock s series ungawdfully long to keep moving past a hundred mph haha
cheatingsolitaire 2 years ago
Bull. i did 115 yesterday in my 93 sl2
