I like both approaches for language learning. Although, being an introvert I probably spend more time with Steve Kaufmann's approach. I think that the main thing is that you learn words in context. I recently programmed a little tool that will help you do just that. If you're interested, check out my website.
Yes, steve;s approach is great if you do a lot of passive learning and spend time listening at home, which i do alot of the time. What's your website?
Great video! I'd agree with your approach. Like you, I go back to the grammar after I've got some momentum in the language - it actually becomes interesting when it's got some context.
When I learned Hungarian last year I found Hungarians to be extremely helpful, so there really is nothing stopping you from using it with them :) As you say, it's less complex than the scare tactics make it out to be.
Thanks to @Bartisation - I'm glad you enjoyed my Language Hacking Guide!
That's right, the grammar actually makes sense afterwards. Thanks for your comment,i'm a big fan of yours and your positive attitude, glad we agree about hungarian.
Nice video! I tend to like both Steve´s and Benny´s Methodologies and I tend to combine them so just like you said in your video, I listen a lot and all the words I learned I use as much as often. Did you read Benny´s Language Hacking Guide? I found that book of his to be very interesting to read.
@paholainen100 I used to learn Polish, but I decided to take a break from it now. Soon I am going to start with Operation Isten Kardja, it will be my attempt to gain conversational Hungarian skills during the summer (Although I will start in May.) I will make a video log about my trials and tribulations and I am very much looking forward to it! Do you have some advice for me on how to tackle Hungarian?
yes i think with hungarian, concentrate on getting a lot of words and phrases down, and listen and get used to the sound of the language. Try to use the basics that you learn on a native speaker. Keep a basic journal of what you do each day, this will assist you in remembering essential vocab. Learn on basic grammar in context during the first few months. After a few months get a grammar book to sharpen your skills and make you more aware of certain constructions.
the good news is hungarian is nowhere near as hard as people say, the case endings are quite simple, simpler than in slavic languages and even simpler than german etc. But you'll still need time to get used to the structure, just be patient. Let me know how it goes.
