The video has a misleading title. The Arctic Ocean is already nearly ice free in summer. The perennial ice has been at record low maximums for six consecutive years. GRACE satellite data has the Greenland ice sheet losing 220 cubic km of ice per year. That's double the rate of 5 years ago.

This Would mean for the next 20 years the Arctic ice would have to melt an average of 150m per year (492.1 ft/yr) or more precisely .4m/day which is 41cm/day, 1.35ft/day, 16.2 inches/day!!! ...every day single day for the next 20 years! ... According to the NASA GRACE satellite survey of Antarctica in the last year it shrank by 180 cubic kilometers, sounds dramatic doesn't it.
Antarctica has a volume of 30 million cubic kilometers, to put it in perspective it shrank by 0.006% at the present rate it will take 166,000 years to melt. Not 100 Years.

Arctic Sea Ice Underestimated for Weeks Due to Faulty Sensor

Feb. 20 (Bloomberg) -- A glitch in satellite sensors caused scientists to underestimate the extent of Arctic sea ice by 500,000 square kilometers (193,000 square miles), a California- size area, the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center said.
The error, due to a problem called sensor drift, began in early January and caused a slowly growing underestimation of sea ice extent until mid-February. Thats when puzzled readers alerted the NSIDC about data showing ice-covered areas as stretches of open ocean, the Boulder, Colorado-based group said on its Web site.
Funny, they once said that it would melt away by 2030, now they are telling everyone 2050. So, when 2050 hits and they are wrong, are they going to bump it back another 20 years or more?
After that stupid action on the Canadian parliment buildings yesterday, which was an inslult to every Canadian, I will never support greenpeace ever again.

The Greenland ice sheet is over land. The Arctic Ocean is water. He seems to have forgotten the difference but that accounts for the apparent discrepancy. The ice pole has been free of ice during the summer. Deny global warming and you deny facts.

Kilimanjaro lost 75% of its ice sheet between 1910 and 1989, then a further quarter of the remainder since then. Maybe it's a positive feedback scenario: once it starts to go it accelerates. Temperature anomaly records in that area, if you bother to look, show again a slight decline since 1979: the data is publicly available.

The retreat of glaciers are at an incredibly accelerated rate, NEVER seen in history, huge percentages gone every year, and only recently at this ridiculous rate. Wildlife, I couldn't keep away. Deforestation may well lead to warming if you consider massive deforestation applied globally. The Kilimanjaro story is that this is an entirely local effect: as well as absorbing CO2, trees transpire, that is suck water out of the ground and lose much of that into the air. As a local effect, this can easily disturb rainfall. Lose the trees, you lose the water vapour passing into the air. As you might say, simple, stupid?
There is no "growing" evidence against global warming. The fact is the evidence of global warming's existence is what is growing. Every year the evidence compounds on the year before. On top of that all the evidence seems to show it is far worse then we had thought earlier. Any evidence to the contrary has been proven false even if it still makes it to the media. Actual scientists called bullshit, and after numerous denials, the World Atlas published a retraction that their information was incorrect. The actual data is 0.1% over the last 12 years...

"Environmentalism" is almost becoming a fundamentalist religion in my opinion. They seem to be anti-human and anti-development in the poor parts of the world where mining for instance would bring jobs and development to an area - the sort of things we in the "West" take for granted. It's as if Environmentalists have an idealised view of peasant life - that people like to be poor and live in places without the facilities we take for granted. It's fuckin' sad.

All the oil co's were in there trying to get a good extraction system going, and we always set down at McMurray on our way to Ft. Smith. I just googled greenpeace greenland ice sheet 2030. If you read the actual article Greenpeace is blurring the two issues slightly but they are clearly talking about arctic sea ice, not the Greenland ice sheet.

The problem with this interview is they are mixing up two separate issues.
No one is claiming that the entire Greenland ice sheet is going to melt by 2030. I don't even think Greenpeace makes such a statement.
On the other hand there is the issue of arctic sea ice. The arctic may very well be free of sea ice by 2030. You can literally watch it...

The video has a misleading title. The Arctic Ocean is already nearly ice free in summer. The perennial ice has been at record low maximums for six consecutive years. GRACE satellite data has the Greenland ice sheet losing 220 cubic km of ice per year. That's double the rate of 5 years ago.

This Would mean for the next 20 years the Arctic ice would have to melt an average of 150m per year (492.1 ft/yr) or more precisely .4m/day which is 41cm/day, 1.35ft/day, 16.2 inches/day!!! ...every day single day for the next 20 years! ... LOL! Canada would have to become hotter then Florida! ... I guess it'd keep us Canadians from traveling in the south each year during our 4 months of below zero temp... and we are not that close to the Arctic btw (1400+ miles south of)

@seriago If you do the heat calculations to bring ice that 40 below up to melting point the earth would have to tilt on its axis before Greenland would melt.
According to the NASA GRACE satellite survey of Antarctica in the last year it shrank by 180 cubic kilometers, sounds dramatic doesn't it.
Antarctica has a volume of 30 million cubic kilometers, to put it in perspective it shrank by 0.006% at the present rate it will take 166,000 years to melt. Not 100 Years.

I think most of the world population buys into them endorsing all this crap and many assume they know better. @seriago No, you're correct. The world leaders, many of them at least, know better. It's all on purpose. They knew this AGW was a lie from the beginning. They had to hide the decline. AGW is a means of control and power. Tax us to death, take away our cars, our means of keeping warm during the winter. It's all about taking us back to the Middle Ages where there is the super rich (the Al Gores) and the super poor (Us ordinary folk)

The Greenland ice sheet is over land. The Arctic Ocean is water. He seems to have forgotten the difference but that accounts for the apparent discrepancy. The ice pole has been free of ice during the summer. Deny global warming and you deny facts.

Oh dear. All you do is shout and insult but never cite any sources but repeat the same old stuff. Do you only read Greenpeace handouts? Kilimanjaro lost 75% of its ice sheet between 1910 and 1989, then a further quarter of the remainder since then. Maybe it's a positive feedback scenario: once it starts to go it accelerates. Temperature anomaly records in that area, if you bother to look, show again a slight decline since 1979: the data is publicly available.

The retreat of glaciers are at an incredibly accelerated rate, NEVER seen in history, huge percentages gone every year, and only recently at this ridiculous rate. Again, the stupid can't understand this simple stuff. Kilimanjaro is from warming. You are wrong, the world did not get cooler in the last decade it has gotten warmer, where do people get this crap. This is the point, the global average keeps increasing, if you deny that you are stupid or a liar, past decade is the warmest on record.

The evidence against global warming is the graph of mean annual temperature anomalies which was so beloved of the warmers a few years ago when it had been going upwards for a few decades but has now been more or less going down for a decade. Now there was a turn up for the books. Oh, but that was just one of those things, eh? And blow me, the world got cooler but the Arctic still melted...

Wildlife, I couldn't keep away. Deforestation may well lead to warming if you consider massive deforestation applied globally. The Kilimanjaro story is that this is an entirely local effect: as well as absorbing CO2, trees transpire, that is suck water out of the ground and lose much of that into the air. As a local effect, this can easily disturb rainfall. Lose the trees, you lose the water vapour passing into the air. As you might say, simple, stupid?

There is no "growing" evidence against global warming. The fact is the evidence of global warming's existence is what is growing. Every year the evidence compounds on the year before. On top of that all the evidence seems to show it is far worse then we had thought earlier. Any evidence to the contrary has been proven false even if it still makes it to the media. The stupid can not sort this out.
