so I would recommend this to you: Worry less about the notes and more about the rhythm. If you don't hit the correct notes, it'll still be a solo--but you have to hit SOME note in time.

Listen to solos--they're all scales. If you can't do the (ridiculously) fast thumb position shifting, try a different note. Metal solos are nice because they're scales...but really frighteningly fast scales...o-O

good luck. Mind you, this solo was no piece of cake for me either, but I'm just giving my .2 cents.

It's quite different going from classical solos to metal solos.

I'd suggest that, again, you take a listen to how Metallica does the solo. It needs to be EXTREMELY precise.

And be brave! This is NOT classical--SHRED! Your strings should be nothing short of on FIRE from how fast you're playing. Luckily the there's note too much shifting--you're usually playing a group of three notes 4 times and then shifting down (lather, rinse, repeat) TBC

I'd suggest listening to Metallica play this to get an idea of how it's supposed to sound (though I can't stand Metallica, I had to do it also). Some of your notes were stuccato, where Metallica played them legato.

Lovely recording though. Some of your high notes were a tad sharp, so play them slowly and make sure every note is in tune--they're simple scales, just very fast, so play your scales some more and it should help.
