  • is there still fiber in the juice? I would rather juice because you can get more fruit and veggies in your diet that way... but i still would like to increase my fiber intake and if juicing takes the fiber out, then that definitely works against my goal.

  • @thatkidevan yeah, juicing takes out most of the fiber. It's the main reason I don't juice - juicing is great for those who need to get a huge amount of nutrients, like when they're sick or fighting disease.

  • Hi :) nice to meet you...

We're following each other on Twitter lol.

I am TOTALLY a smoothie girl lol.

I need to make a video to talk about why.

But basically it all boils down to the absorption of sugars for me...

Juices give me sugar spikes, totally not into that lol.

    Thanks for sharing!!

I'm on a smoothie feast right now :)

    Hehehe!

  • u r so sweet !! :)

  • Smoothie cause I am too broke for a juicer! I love smoothies though, they fill you up. I been buying organic greens and using some herbs, basil, cilatro ect. Thinking of using Wheatgrass powder.

  • Cant wait to get my juicer!!!

  • Juicer for hard produce. Like carrot apple juice.Blender for soft produce. Maybe orange mango strawberry smoothie . My new green is wheatgrass powder. Be well ,Bob

  • @boob1019 ah, nice distinction!

  • @SecretPlaceDweller91 great price on your juicer :)

  • I prefer green smoothies, mostly because I have a very good hand blender which was at least 50 times cheaper than a juicer which was really expensive. I put 2 sticks of celery, one carrot, organge, lemon, spinach, apple, banana, ginger and my super vitamins together with the hemp seeds. So yes thats my every day breakfast, it was hard at first but now I love them!! It helped me to be and feel so much better. Thanks for the all the ideas and great advise.

  • @toylin00 wow, you have a hand blender that blends carrots??! that's amazing... what brand?

  • @healthyvegan

Hi Heather, the hand blender I have is a Kenwood. I bought it back in January and it was about £15.00

    :))

  • @toylin00 amazing... I'll be looking into that when my hand blender kicks the bucket :)

  • Green juice 110%! if you put an green apple in it it will sweeten it up and make it taste good. :)

  • Nothing better than pulsing 15 bananas in the Blend Tec for some awesome milk, or making yummy datorade with 2 pounds of date in a quart of spring water!

Remembering to be getting 10 grams of carbs per kg of body weight! :D

  • I love making both juice and smoothies! Everyday I make a fruit smoothie for breakfast and it's one of my favorite parts of the day. I also love to juice fruits and veggies. I make carrot juice at least once a week and a of times I also add in things like celery, broccoli, or apples to my carrot juice. I think I tend to use fruits more for smoothies and veggies more for juice but that's just me. I love both, though-can't pick a favorite.

  • I put spinach leaves in mine. But I have a question about that. Does spinach (or lettuce) stretch your stomach? Or is that a myth? I also hear you say "spearolima" (spelling?) a lot. What is that?

  • @Elizabeth01010101 if you overeat anything, it will 'stretch' your stomach - but greens pass through pretty quickly so I think that's a myth :) Spirulina is a seaweed that you can buy in a powder form, and I add it to our smoothies. It has a TON of nutrients in it, although it's not a cure-all and it's not good for every single person - I love it, but I always feel a need to counter the idea that anything is 'perfect' ;)

  • Nice video!

  • i would imagine that just using a liquidiser to make a smoothie would increase the the available nutrients to the digestive system.

  • I do a green smoothie almost everyday :) Today mine was fresh mango, frozen pineapple, papaya, and strawberries, maca, chard, and coconut water. Yum yum

  • I PREFER EATING EVERYTHING IN ITS NATURAL STATE IF I CAN. I OWN EXCELLENT JUICERS AND BLENDERS, BUT I ONLY USE THE BLENDER OCCASIONALLY. BLENDERS AND JUICERS BOTH DEFINITELY HAVE THEIR ROLES IN A MODERN LIFE. I'M ALSO IN SUPER EXCELLENT HEALTH ANYWAY, SO I DON'T NEED MACHINES TO DO MY DIGESTING FOR ME. MY FIRST EXPOSURE TO ADVANCED HEALTHY DIETS WAS THE NATURAL HYGIENE ASSOCIATION, WHICH PREDATES ANY OF THE VEGANS OR RAW FOODISTS ON YOUTUBE. HEALTH REQUIRES THE BALANCE A LOT OF THINGS.

  • I like both but prefer smoothies. I am fortunate to have a good blender and juicer. I like mixing a little of everything, both fruits and veg.

  • I love & prefer green smoothies although i do put like 3 pieces of fruit in there (like 2 bananas and an apple, i just started making them as a breakfast, i still find it hard to drink it with less fruits) I usually also put one tbsp of black strap molasses to add more sugar!! :P

I just bought a mix package of organic cocoa powder with organic hemp powder and macca (sp?) to add them to my smoothies. Maybe later on ill buy some spirulina or Chlorella and rotate the powder through the week :)

  • I make both although more frequently it's green juices with my Breville. For the green smoothie I usually make it with spinach and banana, sometimes add blueberries and strawberries. With the green juices, I make them with celery, parsley, cilantro, spinach/kale, romaine and an apple (sometimes add carrot).

  • I like smoothies better though I've never had a green smoothie or green juice.

  • I prefer green smoothies, although...I haven't tried green juice. I like the idea of getting my greens in their whole form, mixed with my fruits. I also feel so wasteful juicing, due to throwing out all the fibrous bits. Also, smoothies are great for me, since I hate the limp texture of spinach, this way I can just chug it down, rather than poke at a salad.

  • @HBHO agreed, I feel wasteful... lots of people use the pulp to make muffins or things, but at that point I figure I'm eating the fiber anyway, right? green juice can be pretty tasty though. I had one that was spinach, cucumber, apple and celery - it was SO good... but I'm with ya on the smoothies, they're pretty awesome :)

  • I have a Breville juicer and prefer green juice but i dont have a good blender so my green smoothies do not turn out very well, maybe when i get a vita-mix it will be better?!

  • @lucasroby77 vitamixes make a very smooth green smoothie - if that's the issue, then if you decide to buy a high-power blender you should be good. I haven't worked up the courage to spend that much on a blender yet, so I stick it out with a bit of chewing ;)

  • Do you have a video of how to make a green smoothie?

  • @limbaughlady yeah, if you search my channel for green smoothies, or go to my recipe website (healthy vegan recipes dot net) you should find it from a month or so ago :)

  • awesome as always. thanks for the info Heather :D

i'd like to say that the first time i tried a green smoothie, i was instantly hooked on the stuff. i felt it in my head for some reason. imagine the sensation you get when you're really thirsty and you drink a tall cool glass of water. yeah, that s what my brain felt like.

  • @boorbaga cool, I wish I could say it was love at first drink for me... lucky you! :)
