JP helped inaugurating the modern -or current- style of squash. Many eons ago there were the wooden racquets; then the smallhead composite racquets and the era of Jahanghir Khan. Then the larger racquets and an era dominated by Jansher and his grueling attritional game. Then came the larger and lighter racquets and the era dominated by Nicol and Power. Nicol was the continuation of the attritional style of squash, JP was the first to play the daring, creative, attacking shotmaking game of today.
Love the Squash videos keep them up. I saw JP playing in an exhibition match with Shahier Razik at my club earlier this year and he's still passionate about the game. He can still dominate the T.
@TheLeipster Props to JP, but he does not have the name recognition of a Sampras, Agassi, Nadal, or Federer. Hate to say it, tennis is the king of racquet sports.
I just started playing squash in Salt Lake City this last October, and already JP is my hero, just like Larry Bird is my hero for basketball. You have to watch the best, study the best, and always keep improving your game to move forward. I love to watch videos of JP and I hope to be more like his game.
he is no doubt a good player or rather one of the best but i think you cannot really compare the Khans with him first of all i think they won hell more titles than him and secondly today the racquet technology is totally different.....the racquet with which they used to play cannot be campared with todays...i wud still rank Jansher and Jehangir two steps higher .
and secondly zeyshaan bhai nice video again...i dont know i lke ur music choice :D like it goes perfectly with the video
that's rather harsh and I would never endorse such views, Jonathon's one of the most talented players to ever play the game, I'd say he easily makes the top 5 and since no one prompted such a response from you, I'd tell u to refrain from such negativity...
i think jp's raquet skills were better but movement is more important in squash, and thats where jansher wins (dont know anything about jahangir tho so cant comment on him)
hahaha, what an idiotic comment, he never played jahangir and often beat Jansher. as far as I'm concerned he is the greatest player of all time...on his day no one could beat him....take a look at the 2005 Bermuda final! he played a brand of attacking squash that revolutionized the game and influenced today's shotmakers like Ramy and Shabana
Zeyshaan, whenever you have time to make one of theese, please do... Everyone of your short clips has amazed me.. U are the best! (actually, Jahangir was the best, but who is counting;))
Thanx ouzmuruv, I am working on a few and they will be released in a timely fashion, just busy with other things at the moment, but there r a few videos coming up soon, thanx for writing in again, appreciate ur kind feedback sincerely, thanx
Power only said that because he's a good sport. As if he would say, " Well, actually, I'm th ebest player." He was just being a humble canadian. He knows he's the best. Everybody knows it.
Great video - Fantastic shot maker would have been interesting watching a match between him and Jansher or Jahangir at the there relative career peaks. We can only dream
I have Power on tape beating an experienced Jansher when he was younger. Therefore, since Power was way better than his younger years its safe to say he was better.
How come u don't have videos where Jansher beat him repeatedly and soundly? oh and by the way Jonathon himself holds admits that Jansher was the best he ever played and calls him the 'King-Khan'
Man, settle down... its gettin' ridiculous. why are u such a jansher nuthugger anyway?
Fuck you're a tunnel-visioned loser... I can really tell that you are a little paki. Just get angry and shit on everyone. Pakistan is like the worst country anyway. they do fuck all, help noone, can't even run their own country properly and are just a bunch of uneducated angry fucks. Stop being such a Jansher fag.
I can say the same about u regarding Jonathon, but I respect these players too much to insinuate such a thing, and I didn't get angry or anything, ur argument produces counter-arguments and I forwarded just one of them. Anyways u shudn't get so pissed since u got kicked off from the SQUASHSITE forum and now u wanna take out ur frustrations here, no hard feelings, keep it real, cheers
@Adrian19Adrian19 if we just open our minds and see....then we will undertand jonathan power was a great player and jansher was too.....but if we look at the encounters we see that power won 2 out of 12 matches from jansher.............this proves that jansher was a better player than power .....but ofcourse the match between them was very tense.........sorry
Wow. I really don't know much about Jonathon. I had stopped playing Squash by then but he reminds me of Qamar Zaman. Very tricky player. From what I can see it would be hard to read where the ball will end up at. This is how I used to try and play as well ... key word is try :)
its actually funny that shabana says that he learned a lot from playing jonathon because if you look at shabana's game since hes been number one his game looks a lot like jonathon's. Before when shabana was lingering in the teens of the rankings he was just a shooter, now his game is more patent and he looks for kills rather then trying to create them out of nowhere similar to jonathon.
They were training partners for many years, so he wasn't just talking about playing him in competitive PSA matches, they probably played each other close to 300 times, excluding all PSA events. Thanx for commenting though, appreciate it
