  • @shmaltz dude every trey anastasio esque.... impressive

  • I REALLY LIKE YOUR SWEEP PICKING AT 1:39.

  • great job!!

  • Can you please make a video on how to improvise??? With like scales and such??

  • How did you set the equalization?

  • Hi Ely!!! You must love to play!! Because to play like that takes a lot of time!! Way to go man!! Loved it!! Joey Vaughan "World Blues Attack"

  • Awesome!

  • i only know the major minor and blues scale, what do you need to use for jazz music? and is it hard to learn? i am havin a hard time in learning my man :(

  • Best solo i've heard since stairway to heaven.

  • Awesome dude. I gotta admit I wasn't at all much of a Jazz guy, but i was watching Jay Leno and the guitarist in Ricky Minor's band got me interested. And now you've made me a believer. Love those licks at 1:25 by the way.

  • Well done chap

  • it's like im in seattle

  • @enoiclaf60

    It does!

  • You possibly have one of the nicest touches with a guitar I have ever seen. You are truly fantastic!

  • now THAT's smooth, made my night!

  • i love thrash metal and always will.. but in the other hand.. i love jazz guitar.. i know nothing of it(playing it) i loved to learn :)

  • @ThrashMetalAJM

Very nice to see this as a top comment as I'm dipping my toe into non-metal music for the first time in ages. :)

  • good :)

  • The intro looks like "Angel All Around Us", by Santana.

  • Hey Man! Great Chops, Who are your influences?

  • SMOOOOTH JAAAAZZZZZZ

  • Can you please tell me what scales you used on that little jam, I'm starting to really get into jazz and I don't know exactly where to start, so I'm just letting myself inspired by whatever I find. Have futur great jams, cheers

  • dude i love the chords at the start mind telling us what they are

  • Where can i find tab file?

  • is that a Prestige?? nice set up, what amp are u using?? or plug-in?

  • It is a prestige, going through a peavy classic 50 I think...

  • can someone tell me where i should begini want to become a great smooth jazz guitarist. i have no idea where to begin

  • Sure, you can start by learning chords and really focusing on rhythm, because that's the foundation of everything....honestly, just start that, get your timing down and learn chords to start, then theres some awesome lessons on youtube, Andrew Wasson is the best I think, also Marty Schwartz is great! Good luck!

  • DUDE, YOu got tabs for this? ITS AMAZING.

  • Are u the guy from benedict arnold?

  • can someone tell me where i should begin. i am a rock guitarist who knows a little jazz, i play bossa nova pretty well but now i want to become a great smooth jazz guitarist. i have no idea where to begin, what to study, who to listen too and how to listen to music to absorb what i hear. please give me some tips people. PM me.

  • He's ok, but my jazz guitar teacher could kick his ass at guitar

  • @FoldingCrown Playing guitar isn't a competition...

  • I pity the fool who wastes time listening to rock guitar solos when a world of amazing jazz guitar solos are ignored.

  • looks like shmaltz has a dip in.

  • so basically a better than average nice guitar with a sick awesome amp is better than than a gibson les paul and some cheap amp?

  • @captainsmartass123 I love Les Paul

  • @captainsmartass123 for sure

  • once again very nice!!

  • you know what, if you just deepened your tones, it would sound alot more like smooth jazz.

  • LOve It real nice

  • I like that!

  • Awesome my man. Very nice licks dude.

  • lol amazing but i certainly wouldn't describe this as smooth jazz. Id love to buy some of ur tunes. do u have anything on itunes?

  • what kind of chords were those at the begining?

  • dude this is amazing. havent i heard this on the local weather channel? lol <3

  • i love seeing people jamming like this and getting into it so much!!

  • this is not smooth at all dickface

  • @Guaranatriple

    And you're an asswipe.

  • This is beautiful. I really started to like Jazz. It gets into your soul so deep. I like soomth solo that you can listen to during the night time when everything is quiet. I would like to learn guitar jazz now can some one tell me a good website that can take me from beginning to the level where I can play like you. I like your riff man. so so beautiful.

    Be blessed

  • you're really good but this is more like bluesy funk than smooth jazz

  • how do you get your left hand so relaxed?

  • More like half jazz half rock n roll

  • @wertin4 Funk :P

  • Great job Bro, very nice vid :)

  • You should try to cover Peter White - Promenade .. I think youd do a great job!

  • Its all in da wist mahn!! Fat sound gomes from good bravado ...Who needs any xternal fx!!! Bravo!!!!

  • Its fine, but basically 4 minutes too long because you run out of things to say on one chord.

  • What chord are you playing over?

  • with my ibanez rg, i play alot of metal. but its amazing how i can just add some reverb and comp and it sounds like legit jazz. this guitar is so versitille

  • Fest solidní ! ! !

  • i saw him in the last part of the song using a blues pentatonic scales

  • wow!...amazing guitar...

I have a cort X6 but you play very good than my...

    im a begginer....

  • Almost failed but nice save at 2:37

i saw the disgruntled guitarist face :P

  • Hahaha good call totally what happened! Somehow it was salvageable though :-)

  • @shmaltz yeah your a good guitarist for making it work, "just keep going" lol

  • @shmaltz that's the beauty of using chromaticism to your advantage

  • this is really nice

  • is that an rg420eg?

  • what kind of ibanez model is that?

  • Oh and i am using a Fender hot rod deluxe, tube amp.

  • What are your tone setings on your amp, i cant get my amp to sound like that.

  • nice control

  • it sounds like you got some pretty pentatonic licks

  • Loving this alot!

considering the guitar you using for a jazz style aswell you have really pulled this off!!!

    keep it up.

  • pretty good dude. any improvs? very well composed...

  • without being offensive in anyway (none intended at all) its more of a funk blues. Thats not to say your not playing well because your improv is pretty awesome man, can hear some nice modal idea's comin through :)

  • I wish I could improvise half as good as you!

  • not too jazzy, more like bluesy. sooo. hell yeeeah man!

  • earth counts at least a dozen assholes who disliked this!!!

  • this sounds awsome! i never saw an ibanez guitar like this...

    i have a Washburn WM10

  • i like how he's not trying to smile and looks likes he is chewing something

  • do you know any kind of theory? if so you could really spice up your chord proggression and play with modes and make youre playing a lot more solid an confident sounding. like you i dont know a lot about jazz but i love theory. just some constructive criticism, i liked this!

  • Oh, I like it very much! I looooove it!!! love it love it!

  • that was wonderful

  • yeah im having a hard time getting a jazz tone on my guitar. I have a peavey vypyr and a cheap fender guitar. ill be getting a gibson later soon :). PS im not a beginner just not rich.

  • i hope you put some sheets on your bed before you sleep on it. great music thanks.

  • Sweet but I'd say this is more like funk blues riffs. Smooth jazz is a little simplier and and more chill sounding then this.

  • Well it delivers what it promises... Smooth Jaaaaaazz ;D

    Kickass soloing man :)

  • yeah ...would really like to make music with you ;)

  • That was... no I was in awe when I heard this tune

  • I beg that could u tab this out, or at least post the backing track u used!!

  • I'm having a hard time getting that kind of tone I have a line 6 podxt

  • Yeah I hear you, better off having a half decent guitar through a tube amp if you ask me!

  • @shmaltz you but still can't afford a tube amp but I would love to know how you mix your tone

  • @darktirador haha pod xt..i got on for free dont know how to make it work though...

  • it would have been better if you played this with fender stratocaster!

  • what's the pattern you play at about 1:54ish?

i'd love to learn that part.

  • A lot of people ask for this part, it's something i made up that's just triads, first two ascending are 11th triads then regular major triads, it's pretty simple but sounds cool, maybe i'll post video to explain thanx!

  • what chords did u use in this vid?? haha

  • hey sir...when ur still learning to play guitar..what do u usually play? jazz and blues always?

  • I like to play country, blues, funk, bluegrass, "everything" I guess...I don't know jazz for my life, don't tell anybody! But I love it though...

  • @shmaltz how come u dont know jazz while ur video is about jazz..LOL..im confused

  • @weaponx29 there's a big difference understanding jazz and being able to write out a tune that kinda sounds like jazz.

  • what chord did u use on the metronome? nice

  • hey sir..what effects are u using in that vid?

  • Hey..pretty cool man..Id maybe change your tone for a couple parts..ya know..like kick up the distortion for solo's or something..some kinda change..less noise for mellow parts, more noise when your wailing..not trying to offend..just, you can listen to bad ass stuff and fall alseep cause tonally it stays the same...

Other than that, it rocks dood..

Im doing similar stuff with a buddy...

    Be cool..Mike in Tucson

  • Thanx Mike! Appreciate the input!

  • wow!! you're amazing!!

  • dude 1 chord song :/

  • Cool! Great piece!

  • I hate you. you make it look so easy lol

  • WOW....Great job

  • smooth and funky....yeah

  • amazing!!! the giutar to!

  • Yeah! Am one chord Jam in tempo of 110...

Thanks, I was looking for this..

  • Cool!

  • wow dude awesome solo, what scale are you using? and in what key please?

  • that was brilliant!!! :D it kinda sounded like "black magic woman", but over all it was nice!!

  • man..that sounds awsome! where did you study?

  • Thanx! Actually never really studied, I gotta start...just feel and ear

  • man...i envy you...i wish i could play like that. i got a bit of an ear, but i can't get to play what i hear in my head, know what i mean? anyway keep up the good work, you rock..i mean jazz

  • nice! a real guitarist doesnt study... they just feel :) respect man!

  • Awesome sound

  • niceeeee

  • real nice man

  • WOW Ely! thats awesome!! nice job!

  • great playing! i was reminded of stanley jordan, especially his song "street talk"

  • awesome stuff! can you please post your equipment?

  • Thanx! Yeah sure it's an Ibanez prestige through a peavy classic 50, that's it!

  • is that a prestige?
