  • Thanks for this version. I was looking for the extended version broadcated with Eurovision Song Contest and the nice Bombard player at about 3:18for ages.

    Such a nice tune.

  • my niece shared a sauna with this dude, she said he's got a great voice.

  • year I was born!

loving the demeanor and the clothes... la-dee-dah :))

  • i saw HHF in Waterloo Ontario Canada at the University of Waterloo Federation Hall in about 1990 and it was easily the best live performance that I have ever had the privilege of being present for.

  • If I remember right, the song was wrtitten for a mother whose son was dying of cancer. She's imploring him to "stick around and laugh awhile". Absolutely brilliant song, that you can appreciate at many levels.

  • could it be better??? no,no,no.

  • black cat sitting in the shadow of a doorway

  • Could and can still not get any DVD of their 80's stuff. Download would be even better for me.

  • I´m ols enough to have been young in the 1980´s - and I remember this song VERY WELL from the Eurovision SOng Contest in Dublin that year...

I remember thinking that compares to this song - all the contest songs were worth nothing...!!!

I think that many will agree with me when I say that Hothouse Flowers is one of the most underestimated bands in the western world - but, also one of the most important bands; at least for all of us who still enjoys their music. Lot of love to Liam & Co :-)

  • tell me the reason why they made this song?

  • I was also fortunate to seem them in Toronto this first tour and met them all back stage. I know it was written for a friend of the bands' that passed away

  • I saw them on this tour in Toronto and thought they were going to be huge What happened?

  • The extended version of this video was made for the 'postcard ' section Eurovision Song Contest held in Ireland. I worked for Ryanair at the time and we flew the band to Spain (you'll see the cockpit view and photo of A320 at the end)..

  • @57GROSVENOR wow that must have been a cool experience :))

Thanks for sharing the info and your memories!

  • @57GROSVENOR , It was the best song of the whole show!!!

  • @57GROSVENOR i don see it

  • Great song!

  • Thanks for posting! I have the CD, not the extended version. Reminds me of my youth. beautiful!

  • Liam's smile at the end makes me melt x

  • I was watching a aprticularly dull Eurovision contest back in 1988 (?). It was being broadcast from Ireland, anyway, and they took a break. Wogan (for it was he) introduced a band called The Hothouse Flowers to play a song during said break. It was by far and away better than any of the typical Euro entries. It was 'Don't Go'. I rushed out and bought the 12 inch single immediately - but it certainly wasn't this extended version.

  • Sinead O'Conner used to bitch "Oh, sure if I had U2 as friends I'd be as big as them".

Huh, Catholic and rippin' the Pope's picture on SNL - yeah. that works.

I have this album on cassette in my basement but a dead player.

Miss them - hope they've remained and maybe we left them...

  • @bijgenaamd

The best thing Sinead ever did was a duet with The The on his Mind Bomb album.

  • love it ~peace love and gratitude

  • This song was not that big in Canada, i heard it on a Q station and i loved it right away.I rmeber reading an article in the Toronto newspaper about them and the writwer said that this grouo was going to be the next u2.. I don't think that happened, Did it.???

  • @notgonnabenice The song was big in Canada in 1988. Everyone was looking for the next U2 in the late 80's from Dublin. I think Bono helped on the album as well, Google it.

  • great song, reminds me of my childhood thanks for posting it

  • great song, very catchy and above all we all want somebody to return to us

  • Hey, I had been looking for this extended version for 20 years! I saw this video in a TV show and I fell in love with the band. I bought the LP and the 7" when they came out, but this extended version was impossible to find. For years I occasionally searched the Internet for it, but to no success. Until today!! :D

    Thanks, mate ^^

  • @petromas3 Hey there, thanks for the comment! Only happy to post the video :))

  • this prick thinks hes Bono. A real shit person to mimic

  • Shithouse flowers

  • typical Oirish assholes need about 20 people in the band.

  • that guy might not have problems with women leaving him if he ate a sandwich

  • @nerdflanders8710 "that guy" is adored by women, he was and still is the sexiest man alive

  • @MsGogi7 Shithouse flowers

  • @nerdflanders8710 peace brother :-)

  • awesome, thx 4 sharing! I saw them live for this tour, still one of the best live bands I have ever seen.

  • Only happy to :)

    Thanks for the comment!
