Great voice work and video. Especially like the part where Joker says 'Something like that happenned to me.' as if he can remember and feels a degree of remorse.
"When I saw what a black joke the world was i went, i admit it. You must see the reality of the situation, its all a joke! Everything anybody ever valued or struggled for...it's all a monstrous demented gag. So, why arent you laughing?"
Because something like that happened to ME. I'm sure what it was. I don't wan't to see the funny side, because the day I do, I will start laughing and I won't be able to stop...
This video is amazing it shows who the joker really is. it shows that he went through ,so much it ruined him. this makes me fell sorry for him. i understand him the sad thing is he is correct about all of this. i cried. it's one of those scenes that shows you something that opens your heart it makes u question youerself i fell sorry for joker.

@medalgear654 No, it's... a "joke" between the writers of the comic. They were never in agreement to what Joker's official past would be. Now see the irony in Joker's thoughts on it.
@TheCreatorOf4 Killing joke dude. Who cares if there isnt a defined story. What makes joker intimidating is his mystery. Past and present. You don't know who he is. Batman wishes he does. You don't know what he is thinking behind his smile. Batman wishes he does. If we all had known a long time ago who he was, the fear he induces would be gone. What i liked about the killing joke was he was a chemical engineer. I never did understand how "some guy" could engineer strange scientific weaponry.
Mark Hamill has said that if they ever made an animated version of Kiling Joke that he'd be willing to do it even though he is retired. I really hope it happens.
This is really amazing. I loved watching this last night and even your other one of the more full motion-comic continuation of this scene. You got everything right, I think. You're a video good voice actor, you'd be great to replace the Joker. But you wouldn't be for this book. The reason is Mark Hammil said he would only come back for more Arkham games or an animated version of the Killing Joke.
@MCMushiMo Well Batman for NES and Batman Return of the Joker for NES were very good games IMO and the Batman the Animated Series game for SNES was good, don't see anything wrong with it. Then batman for Sega CD was very good with great cutscenes for the time, like any at all would be good. Then everyone should be agreeing that Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are amazing,if not nothing could please you. Never played that game, might try it.
I read the book and it made me want to see this video, then I saw the video and it made me want to read the book, then I just read the book now I want to watch this again.
this is so deep it's depressing. especially thet "why aren't you laughing"- bit at the end. cause i restrospect he does have a point. the world is mostly a big black joke.
i cryed when joker died it was so sad and what batman was killing me when he said "want to hear a joke? after all you did i wouldve saved you" and joker murdered me with sadness when he said "ya that is pretty funny" and died laughing.....i guess all of life is a joke...........
@Randomeiser100 You should read the book, spoilers but,Batman proves Joker is alone, there may be others like him but the world has good in it. After Gordon being tortured by Joker in some of the worst ways possible,he stays sane,he's a good person. There is always a bright side.
He does have a lot of arguments on his side. When Ledger was preparing for the Joker role he wrote a list of things the Joker would find funny, and at the top of that list was AIDS.
The Joker is a coward - both he and Batman had a 'bad day'; when their innocence was stolen and they saw the ugly of the world. Batman however didn't succumb to it; he still saw hope and the good in people and rose above his tragedy to become a force of justice...it didn't push him over the edge, it only made him stronger. The Joker however lost his mind; his tragedy warped him into a pitiful monster because he couldn't handle it: transforming into the embodiment of a 'bad day'.
@Darktroller2 Well, in the Dark Knight at least, he wanted to prove to everyone that everyone deep down was as ugly as he was; that ordinary people can easily snap with one 'bad day' as he did, and thus, morals/codes/rules/etc are actually meaningless, giving way to chaos and anarchy...
But he's wrong; just because he easily snapped doesn't mean others do; nor does that justify his crimes to force people over the edge and into his hole... because others can and will rise above it. He's just a pitiful clown whose tragedy put him in a black pit and he wants the rest of the world to join in his madness...because he failed to see that there was still infinite beauty and good in the world, and that's worth believing in, and worth fighting for.
@Shiek927 In the comic Joker went through a lot, it's not too accurate as joker says he can't a hundred percent know what happened, and he is the one narrating the tale. though in this version, his wife was pregnant, they were broke as he couldn't make anyone laugh, decided to rob a place for his child and wife, the robbery was going to be fruitless as they both died anyways, he still had to rob the place, and to capitalize, Batman screwed up and made him that way.
@Darktroller2 He needs Batman to do it... to brake his "one rule" and corrupt the un-corruptible... that and I think he's having too much fun causing chaos...
@Shiek927 The difference? Bruce Wayne had fabulous wealth and a loving butler/father figure. Joker had nothing, lost everything in a sick twist of fate like a joke, and realized how fragile and pathetic everything was. Doesn't excuse what he does, but to call him a 'coward' because he didn't have the advantages Batman did is unfair. Heck, look at what Joker made of himself afterwards! Not to mention he may be right that Batman is insane himself, just too much of a coward to admit it.
Roflmao, those are just excuses....No amount of wealth can bring back the dead, and regardless of how powerful his family is, they were still shot which scared Bruce the rest of his life; Bruce was in no way better or worse then the Joker....Bruce however didn't shy away - he used his means and money to become more then the playboy he pretended to be - he vowed to never let what happened to him happen to anyone else; he became hero, and THAT is the difference.
The joker didn't have money or wealth...so what? He would have be a hero in his own right simply by carrying on and not letting his family's death bring him down; but still living life as best he could. None of those superficial things are "advantages"; The Joker could have have become a police officer or activist or...heck, he could have just lived and moved on, and that's heroic in itself.
Instead, he went mad and wanted the same for everybody else...no excuses.
@Shiek927 No better or no worse? He still had family in Alfred, he still had his home, his lineage, his name. He had enough wealth to buy him education and training and fund his own crazed war on crime. If Joker had had what Bruce had, he doubtfully would have ended up the way he did... (Largely because he would have never had to become red hood at ALL! but thats quibbling).
@Shiek927 Granted, if Bruce had lost all his money on that night and never had Alfred, he probably wouldn't have become like Joker (now, maybe if he had been horribly scarred and disfigured, maybe), but he would never have become a hero like Batman. He likely would have grown up a broken person just living in a crazy world. So no, Joker isn't a coward because he didn't become a hero. He's just what he is based on what happened to him. Atleast that's MY view, for what its worth.
I understand your view, but you are placing way too much value in superficial things and underestimating the human spirit - Bruce, even without all that money and resources, still could have become a police officer or politician or something if he wanted to fight crime...hell, even if he didn't, again, simply by not giving in and living a normal happy life...he would have perservered over his tragedy just by doing that.
Bruce equally could have gone mad and used on his resources to easily become a new crime lord in Gotham....his name, his money, all of these things don't matter - it's what's inside that count.
Shit happens, sometimes on a level people could never imagine, that's life...what matters is how you deal with it; you either let your sorrows bring you down or you rise above it - Bruce did, the Joker didn't.
the person who voiced Joker in this video does a GREAT Mark Hamill. He's captured so many subtle nuances in his voice. I had trouble deciding whether or not it WAS Mark Hamill, it was so accurate. However, when the laugh came, I was certain it wasn't Hamill. No one can do that laugh. :)
@Bidmartinlo *spoilers* In the actual book,Batman shows Joker he's wrong,Commissioner Gorden went through all that and he's still sane. But yeah,it depends on the person,Batman shows Joker it's just him,he's alone and insane.
Gets insane for one bad day? A bit weak. I mean, people IRL have a lot of bad days (usually mondays). Who hasen't had people close to them, die? Who hasen't had problems with their health? And who isn't seen as a criminal to few madmen?
I would say the Joker got it the otherway around. That the people who feel pains of this world, is more sane than the ones who haven't. Of course, it depends on the person. -.-
@Bidmartinlo If you haven't read The Killing Joke then I can see where you're coming from, but Joker's "bad day" is a really, really bad day. I'd rather not spoil it for you, especially since the entire book can be found online very easily, but yeah stacking the fact that he was an unstable person even before becoming the Joker on top of his pretty horrendous "bad day" makes it pretty clear that all it really does take is one event that is bad enough to push you over the edge.
@SuperMicklovin one of my favorites by Alan Moore and the art by Bolland is amazing , my buddies covet my first printing "green" edition I have stashed in my comic collection.
that was a phenomenal reading, the guy doing the voice was spot on and the acting was perfect, and for being relatively simple the visuals looked pretty good. Good show, sir.
I am surprise that 3d animation are replacing actors, acting died with good old actors and old school acting..? - no actor can be better than this 3 d character..?
@iskandalous That's what she said! And yeah, actually. Kind of sad, because he's not so far off the truth. And all the Joker wants is to make Batman laugh, just once. xD
This made me feel sad for Joker.....Don't get me wrong.I love the Joker. He's my all time favorite character of anything and in a way I look up to him and admire him.So naturally I dont really feel pity for him,but this......just amazing.Great job.
"Something like that i bet, something like that...(so dramatic & sad music starts )something like that happened to me, you know...I'm not exactly sure what it was? sometimes i remember it in one way, sometimes in another" that part almost make me cry... i cant believe it
I liked this. Loved the Killing Joke, and despite what people say how "simple and bland" it is, I'd like to see them to try what you've done. Did you do the voice of the Joker too? If so, hot damn that was awesomely done! and i liked the little things in your animation, the subtle movements or erratic gestures that went with how you said the Joker's monologue. Consider this faved!
how true is his words what he saids is all true life is noting but a black joke noting more there no point there reason we live to die noting more

I'd rather not spoil it for you, especially since the entire book can be found online very easily, but yeah stacking the fact that he was an unstable person even before becoming the Joker on top of his pretty horrendous "bad day" makes it pretty clear that all it really does take is one event that is bad enough to push you over the edge.

that was a phenomenal reading, the guy doing the voice was spot on and the acting was perfect, and for being relatively simple the visuals looked pretty good. Good show, sir.

@iskandalous That's what she said! And yeah, actually. Kind of sad, because he's not so far off the truth. And all the Joker wants is to make Batman laugh, just once. xD

This guy does an awesome impression of Hamill, I do a pretty good impression of Ledger's Joker (voice only)
giles852002 2 months ago
I liked this. Loved the Killing Joke, and despite what people say how "simple and bland" it is, I'd like to see them to try what you've done. Did you do the voice of the Joker too? If so, hot damn that was awesomely done! and i liked the little things in your animation, the subtle movements or erratic gestures that went with how you said the Joker's monologue. Consider this faved!

That was beautiful,I'm actually going to cry.
