Motorola Droid X: Camera and Camcorder Review

Nice instructional review. My camera gets hard to use in very cold weather.....which is hard to avoid in the Upper Peninsula of MI. Anyone else have cold wx issues with their camera?

where do the pictures get saved to? phone or sd card ? is there anyway to have the pictures stored automaticaly to the sd card? or is there even a way to copy/move pictures in the gallery to the sd card? please help thank you

I think the camera for the Droid X sucks. Probably the worst when you compare to the top smartphones like iphone 4, Galaxy S, and HTC Evo.

@MCwelfare I believe the Droids require data packages because of all the internet they use, no matter if you use it or not. Verizon turned the internet off on my dad's droid for a day because he had a loaner and they forgot to turn it back on, and he had over a 1,000 dollar bill.

when i turn on the camera its not showing the "Target box". it only shows up when it detects someones face in the portrait mode. why is that.?

No phone camera can replace a standalone camera or else everybody would buy phones. Phones can easily go up to 15mp but I'm sure Kodak and Cannon will say no.

Love my original Droid, but hate the camera.

I really miss my SE K790a's ability to make

sharp pics out of the pocket

Hopefully I can do a petition and get an X in a few months,

instead of being stuck with droid can=m another year.

Sure wish the x10 was available on Verizon.

Real nice review. I have 2 questions however:

1) Is there or will there be any possible updates that can enhance the quality of the camera so it can take better photos?

2) And is there (or will be) any way to change the camera interface so you don't have to keep scrolling through different modes, but just pick one like you mentioned?

Yes in 2.2 both of those features are going to be added and the quality of the photos for 2.2 Are goregous I just love it I tested out beta it is 10x times better then 2.1, 2.2 is coming out August 6th

No. Verizon store in Philly. They said, no announcement yet for preorder but I can book one for myself. They are not sure if I would definitely get one if I come directly on 15th so they asked me for my documents and other stuff as I will be transfering from att to verizon so that they can keep one aside for me. Best buy is also doing the same. They haven't kept it on display too but the store guy had one and he gave that to me for sometime to play with. It is awesome !!

Man the main reason why this phone is so appealing is that if you like to get casual photos and like to record stuff with pretty damn good quality you don''t need a camcorder or regular camera anymore you always have your phone with you so you can just take this thing out and shoot a quick video or a picture.

havent heard anyone talk about the 1/1000 shutter speed. Did that work like an actual camera? the panorama stuff is great but i'd like to see the functionaloity of that shutter speed... thanks

Rob, if you move the phone to portrait mode while in the gallery I believe pictures and videos will then be displayed in the more traditional grid layout.
