@moefsho this is the American not Mexican 40th anniversary strat. Can't for the life of me remember what pickups are in here. They're the stock pickups and I've never done any mods to this guitar. They rule!
hello and sorry I wrote on youtube Mex Fender Stratocaster 40th anniversary and I see the demo including yours that is American, I'm sorry-I really thought that mex gold or silver with the gold pickguard
@massimo52185 Actually, it is a 40th anniversary Strat. It's the Americian Standard version they made in 1994. That same year they also made a custom shop version that was more along the lines of original spec's.
Dude I bought one back in 95 brand new in SamAsh New york back then I got it for $400 and change. It is red and the pickguard is Black Pearloid. I like the color configuration, but I guess the thing wasnt selling becouse with a small Yamaha amp, strings cables and case it didnt cost more than 700. I dont know how but the 40th anniversary pin fell down, and I also replaced the single coils with dimmarzio humbuckers. I love the shape of the guitar and it still kicks ass.
However, I checked ebay and now one sells for $1000 and change. I really hate that the pin fell, and maybe keeping the single coils whould have been a good Idea. But its my first guitar and I love it.
im boght this 40th anniversary at guitar center the other day for real cheap for $300. im telling you its sweeeeeet! but i was wondering why is it that its so cheap theres nothing wrong with it like at all not even a single dent in it but i dont see why they are like making these 40th anniversary sound monsters so invaluable.
I got the same one for 5 years now and I love her still! I had a Gibson Les Paul, which was great, I have several Ibanez strats and a very nice PRS but this Strat is awesome.
Great sound, especially the neck-pickup that has that great bluesy sound you've been looking for and couldn't find on those Japanes/Mexican strats.
Great sound for SRV stuff but also great when you go for a Larry Carlton or a Michael Landau jazzfusion stuff.
I've never had a problem with my Tremolo in this strat. I did however take the back plate off and tighten the hell out of the tremolo springs. I did that on both my strats and it cured any issue I might have had with the tremolo system. You're right about most of the Jap/MIM strats though, Not as good sounding. I have a MIM 70's reissue and I'm gonna change the pickups pretty soon on that to get a fatter tone.
what kind of pickups does this strat have? the mexican made?? thanks!
