I actually report base and final in the same radio transmission. If I fly an SCA approach (Spitfire Curved Approach) or otherwise known as an overhead break I call in downwind, base, and final all in the same radio call. In this video I fly a fairly large traffic pattern compared to what you can do if you keep your pattern tight. The Pitts is an amazing aircraft. Thanks for your question.
