lol Deadmau5 made a song with these vocals /watch?v=J8ltFYTT0ok
This one's a lot better, but I do like the remix as well. However, I don't see it giving me intense chills like this does. It's absolutely amazing. Especially the violin solo and the vocal solo near the end. Those just killed me, but reincarnated me into a fulfilled being.
Yes, music is defined by popularity! Mozart and Beethoven weren't popular because limited number of people had the chance of hearing them and their work.
Same is with Kenji Kawai. People just didnt have opportunity to hear his music. But I hope they will!
even though i sincerely dont understand a single word they utter but the choir and the orchestra have taken me a to a third realm especially the woman at the end....omg such a deep and a profound voice...ty for the upload!!!!
I feel absolutely no shame to say that this brings tears to my eyes - and that's saying nothing of what it does to my heart. Amazing arrangement, amazing performance, and incredible solo. Things like this should be played on the radio every day, instead of what does play.
@aesaphyr I'd be ashamed if it didn't. I, too, get goosebumps and tears in my eyes, just as I did in the movie's opening scene, simply because this song is so hauntingly beautiful. It's pure art.
@aesaphyr this has to much impact, so much power, your allowed to fall to the ground weeping and die. the Melody here can shatter a soul, and im sure mine has.
@aesaphyr I feel that it's not suposed to be played on the radio. :) If you listened to it every day it would be devaluated. So better to treat such best things as rarity. :)
@Yyookkyy But I do listen to it everyday. It's on my playlist. When I go walking, or do anything, it plays. It's been months, and it's still not devalued to me.
@difabricius Searched long and hard, here we go: A ga maeba, kuwashime yoinikeri A ga maeba, terutsuki toyomunari Yobai ni, kami amakudarite Yo wa ake, nuedori naku A ga maeba, kuwashime yoinikeri A ga maeba, terutsuki toyomunari Yobai ni, kami amakudarite Yo wa ake, nuedori naku Toh kami, emi tame Toh kami, emi tame Toh kami, emi tame
Oh man... i mean oh man this is just astounding at how well composed this is. Ah I wish I had musical talent because i would surely love to play alongside these wonderful musicians.
dose anybody know if kenji kawai had the concert recorded and put on to an album instead of just dvd? that would be amazing then i could listen to it as much as i want to on my ipod.
The woman in the final moments...one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard, it hits the very roots of your being - the sound of life and nature revolving around you.
Quote from Wikipedia: "According to the soundtrack's liner notes, the haunting choral song that plays throughout the film is a wedding song, sung to get rid of all evil influences that are about to follow. Kawai originally wanted to use Bulgarian folk singers, but was unable to find any, so he relied on the Japanese folk song choir [...] The song uses an ancient form of the Japanese language mixed with Bulgarian harmony and traditional Japanese notes."
discovered Kenji's beautiful work with the Ip Man soundtrack and when i heard this - i went speechless. those ancient laments and beautiful arrangement makes for a supersoundtrack. aarrrgghhh..... im just stunned ! (:
Aside from the fact that the song is incredibly awesome and the performance is incredibly awesome.... daaaaaamn, now I want Kenji Kawai as a seiyuu too... he has an awesome voice! I'd love hearing him as a narrator in an anime. It would've been epic.
It's impressive how although this is recorded live; it sounds as outstanding as it did in the movie.
In the other hand, if you listen to other celebrities like Lady Gaga or any of those shitty rappers live, they sound god-awful compared to their broadcast, which still sounds bad compared to this.
@TimeGod12 Let's be fair. You cannot compare this to pop, this is two totally different genres. Also, even if you dislike both Lady Gaga, and Justin Bieber. There's no denying that both of those artist are incredibly talented.
@PanzerEngel History will tell the tale of who makes great music on account of it surviving through the ages. Composers like Mozart and Beethoven were poor and unpopular in their day, but history remembers them as some of the greatest composers who ever lived.
What I am trying to say is great music does not need the approval of the masses to retain it's dignity as great. The general public may not recognize this greatness, but they don't need to. This musics beauty is not defined by popularity
@0a0x0e0 I think you've managed to miss the point; I was complaining about self-concious elitism in the modern music world. - The sort of thing that starved Mozart. Who, incidentally, was immensely popular in his day. Unfortunately back before the concept of intellectual property rights, popular acclaim didn't pay the bills. Patronage did. And the great and good regarded Mozart as a novelty act.
History has had the last laugh with Mozart. I think it will with Kawai.
@csynn Oh yeah no doubt. Hollywood has made some great live acting films, but when it comes to animated, most are just for the kids. While Japan's are full of spirit, mind, and beauty.
I can't help but burst into tears when listening to this. Especially after listening through the whole soundtrack, as all the tension built by the hypnotic drumming is finally released in the solo's "Tookamiemitame (God bless you)" chanting. One of the finest soundtracks (and series) ever, in my opinion.

When you are dancing, a beautiful lady becomes drunken
When you are dancing, a shining moon rings.
