  • A 44 mag hawkeye? thats sweet.

  • great vids. these should be required viewing for anyone not familiar with firearms.

  • I love the Vodka! Adds just a little more authenitcation to it.

  • @silentkilla420 The large loop on the lever actions is so you can operate it easily while wearing heavy duty work gloves. Also it was made popular by John Wayne and other actors who would use the cocking action to twirl the gun. But mostly it is so you can wear a bulky glove and still fire it.

  • I love these vids.

  • why do all your lever actions I've seen have ridiculously large levers??

  • Garand was also a canadian, an even lesser known fact. French canadian none the less. The brits wouldnt let us use it

  • lol gun gripes vid, calls a primmer a cap, thought that was black powder only

  • I was hoping to see some high wall and rolling block actions.

  • why do all those lever actions have such large rings around the where your hand is?(forgive me I do not know the proper term)

  • that is a beautiful mauser

  • lol amercians 5 beans in wheel i love guns but that is a very stupid term

  • My closet contains a Winchester 94 in 30-30. Does that count?

Lol great video, I wasn't aware of the locking lugs.

  • What do you guys think of the savage model 99?

  • I wish my closet in middle America had a Marlin 336 is .30-30 in it.

  • LOL at the katana in the background.

  • not all gun people are saddle people, its kind of hard for the pommel to fall off a saddle.

  • Beautiful M1a

  • Barry's beard is magnificent.

  • beginning was priceless... i died with laughter when he took a nip off the vodka

  • Iraq Veteran here. Dig these videos.

  • Can I like this twice? The fact that you just used the comparison of a Newton Cradle to describe a 1911's firing pin makes me want to like this twice.

  • Hey... I live in middle america and I don't have a marlin lever action so HA!

  • this looks like a good video to have in the store so newbies can figure out what there looking for ,,good job

  • in s&w defense,it looks like you compare the sigma w/the glock, which is very similar.however the m&p line is a definite improvement imo over the glock in the trigger group,& the ergos.though the slide & internals are still basically a nod to the glock. but i do dig my m&p..great vid sir!

  • does the s&w have the tilted barrel similar to the glock also or is it a different design?

  • Glock's are actually Double Action. The striker is only partially cocked by the slide so the trigger has to finnish cocking (1) and release (2) the striker making it Double Action. XD's are true Single Action, the trigger only releases the striker.

  • could you elaborate on y you consider the glock single action? isnt the striker in half cock r something before you pull the trigger?

  • @0vinnie9 there are way too many manufacturers to choose from but Kimber is great stuff. The only thing I like more than a kimber 1911 is a sig saur 1911 gsr.

  • to anyone who shoots the 1911 i am looking into getting one and was wondering what brand to go with. i think that almost every company that makes pistols has their 1911 model i was told to go with kimber. just wanted an opinion from someone not trying to sell me one if you know what i mean

  • Love these great stuff.

  • I could spend entire afternoons listening to this guy! boy would I like to lear all the wisdom he's got about guns and who knows what else!

  • I hate going to the gun store...well lemme reword that...my wallet hates the gun store.

  • What happened to the video? all black only sound? Same as the last two gun gripes 5 and six? Is this a youtube screw up or?

  • hah my dad bought that 1911 today ill have a video of shooting it in about two weeks or so . You can check out our other gun videos too. thanks

  • " you wont elaborate " ???.... then whats the point in even making a video about it? to not elaborate is only leaving the door open to a flood of more questions. I mean 30 seconds into this i was thinking what the hell is this vid even about? I love your channel, but what the hell dude it just seems like this vid was only half done. =(

  • wow its the second vid of you guys i watched...first one was on the importance on having a .22...im new to guns, i dont own one myself (more complicated and expensive up here in Quebec) so as a "green" its really interesting!

  • Hello Barry and others, thanks for clearing up all the gripes, been interesting to watch and very learning.

Now I have a question, I'm looking for a home defense hand pistol. I do not intend to carry it, other than having it at home, in reach for whenever someone decides to barge in. Personally I fancy the Beretta 92 or a Colt 45, would you suggest either of those, or would you suggest something else ? Price is not of importance, it's a matter of defense.

  • not as funny as the others..

  • I have to say, that S&W Sigma is one of the most unsafe firearms for new shooters because of its trigger pull. I have witnessed several novice shooters at the range dip their aim up to a foot because of all the force needed to pull the trigger.

  • @TheDudeAbides281 I own a sigma40 and love it. As for it being unsafe for new hooters, I respectfully disagree. Perhaps one of the most inaccurate for newbs because of the trigger pull, but not unsafe. Quite the opposite...it's even more safe. Nothing scares me more at the range than a noob with a revolver or 1911 with the hammer cocked. It is far more likely for noobs to ND a firearm on single action. That long tough sigma trigger pull has likely prevented thousands of ND's and even deaths.

  • more gun gripes i want more!!!

  • Great vid. Very educational. Thanks for posting.

  • Eric, do you guys ship to Minnesota?

  • You two guy's are making excellent, interesting video's.. Good Jod

  • was the s&w loaded (semi auto)

  • This Ruger 77 does not use the handle as a safety lug. There is not enough metal to hold the bolt if the lugs give way. The action you showed is not the usual ruger bolt action rifle used for high power cartridges. This action was introduced in 1994 for the Ruger M77/22 in .22 Hornet. It uses a two piece bolt. The action used for high power rounds is a Mauser design, one piece bolt, dual opposed front locking lugs, claw extracter etc. The bolt handle is a safety lug on HIGH POWER ACTIONS ONLY.

  • I learn a lot of your video's, love the' gun gripe vid's really informative (y)

  • Just a quick one here.. Isn't it spelled "GRIPS"?

  • @jt1gg3r81 No, Gripes as in complain, not Grips as in ergonomics.

  • @grizz474 OH! Duh, I don't know why I didn't get it, probably cause I was reading it in a different accent lol. Sorry don't know where my head was haha

  • @jt1gg3r81

A gripe is a complaint or grumbling about a certain matter. However it didnt really seem like they were complaining but more so grumbling about many people's lack of knowledge.

  • Has Barry ever tried concealing a weapon in his beard? XD

  • @BioGeometric066 hell yeah, he has a darringer taped to his chin just in case, but you cant see it ;)

  • i look forward to the next vid, i love em, very informative and entertaining to say the least, thanks y'all merry Christmas

  • Very well versed Barry and Eric, didn't make me feel like a nipplehead o^o,very informative!!

  • Another great vid

  • Where's the locking lug on that single action Colt? ( = Nice job in educating those without a clue....thumbs up.

  • Does anybody know the web adress for moss pawn gun store ?

  • @Lewissden On Ebay.... moss_enterprise on Gunbroker..... user name Moss Pawn

  • THANK YOU! I love watching simply informative videos, I wish more of them were like this, great job!

  • Good god people they are talking in generality . Rear Lugs, One hand Hammer drop,New as it gets. In other words Most generally what they are saying is true or 80%, or whatever,

Great info . I can always learn something new, today it was 1911 Firing pin. as I said Great info

  • Hey I gota question I have a 1945 m44 with a round receiver and im looking for original style scope.does any one know and where can I get it?

  • Okay I see you have a S&W 5906, well my dad carried the 5903 until they switched to the glock 17(I think in the late 90's) But he now lives in a group home now, I was wondering if you could tell me a little bit more about the 5903 because I can't find any information on it.

  • Where's the semi-auto .44 mag revolver? Mantech or Macore some shit like that...?

  • Glock..."modern as it gets"???? 1982 is not. S&W...maybe.?.?....and showing people to drop a hammer on a 1911 with your thumb is kinda irresponsible. If it has a hollow hammer use two fingers to drop it softly. Gun guys get it wrong sometimes due to daily exposure. When it becomes routine, even the pros should take a gun safety class.

  • What does a lug have to do with accuracy? Its going down the same barrel.

  • you guys make great videos

  • Glock patents expired some years ago, that is why there are new types of handguns with lots of similarities to the Glock (The Ruger SR series for example). Doubt that S&W has to pay royalties anymore.

  • "lever actions most popular action in ameria"

NO ITS NOT (looks at my 1895 marlin in 35 remington)

    .............ok mabey it is

  • Great vid man, I like to see Barry get good and pissed just for the entertainment factor, haha. Great presentation, keep em coming brother.

  • i have to say one of my biggest gun gripes is when people call semi-autos, automatic pistols or rifles. two very different things in my book

  • I hate how glock says there pistols are double action, find it very stupid although now they say "safe action" more and more

  • Is that a Yugo made Mauser? Just curious.

  • @LeverActionStudios I would say so. Pretty sure it's not German. The wood doesn't go past the sights on the German ones I believe.

  • Any way you could cover roller-delayed blowback in a future video?

  • i got a gripe for you when people call dot sights scopes

  • I love being able to watch these vids on my tv now through the xbox! Awesome keep up the good work

  • So what was the actual gripe in this video?

  • Now what was the gripe?

  • @troopcom We didn't want to come off as being dicks, but this video is to clear up the common actions types. People come in and ask for some stuff that doesn't exist. I won't elaborate.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Stop holding Barry back, you are letting the haters stifle his creative expressions and what made your "gun gripes" hilarious

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Agreed. It may seem obvious to some people, but the noobs can't tell. Great vid!

  • Hmm so where is the gripe?

  • Very good video :) Marry Christmas. Question Could Berry play Pistol Packing Santa this year?? :))

  • very interesting, Garry does good job. he sounds like a military instructor. good stuff.

  • I happen to have a Marlin 336 in .30-30 in my closet!

  • I'd love to see a video of actions that are not safe to dry fire, or mabey just a video on dry firing in general.

  • Great video keep them coming!

  • Technically the Glock is a double action as the trigger mechanism is "cocking" the striker and then releasing it to fire the gun.

  • Love the video but how was that a gripe?

  • Great video! Thanks for posting this. Great info. That Mauser action is a work of art in my opinion.

  • The lever guns are very popular here in Canada to.

  • i will be honest in saying i did learn quite a few things for instance the quotes and the locking lugs were a couple things i didnt know however a glock has a partially cocked striker so it is technically a double action its sorta like a halfcocked so it does finninsh cocking then release thus it is double however that smith is a full double where it is not prestaged at all this is why a worn out glock can get stuck out of battery when pointed upward

  • they use S&W 5906

  • the RCMP still use S&W 9mm

  • Comment removed

  • Really not a good idea to carry a 1911 with the round chambered and the hammer down. The gun is safer with the hammer back and the thumb safety engaged. It was designed to be carried that way.

  • Barry is cool..

  • The new Ruger 1911 does not have the firing pin block in it, I do not own one(very, very unfortunately) my source is NRA's American Rifleman. Just to throw the info out there if anyone needs it. Be Safe

  • @safetyfirstshooter yes he is refering to the colt series 80 design where they went in and added it not specifically ALL newer 1911s but just the 80 design that other companies have used also

  • @tacdriver22mk2 your comment really should have went as just a comment and not a reply. If you would have read all of my comment you would have seen the part about just throwing the info out there. It was really meant as a safety oriented comment for a potential buyer of the Ruger. Be safe and happy holidays

  • Drinking Taaka Vodka!

  • Gun Gripes episode have been great.. Thanks

  • rear locking lugs not as accurate my butt i can hit things with my no 4 mk1 i cant hit with my mosin

  • @camerl2009 Well yeah... to be honest, thats about the only one. The Schmidt Rubin is a very effective rear locking lug firearm too.

  • @Iraqveteran8888

The MAS 36 also has a rear locking lug to my knowledge as well and it's a very good weapon system...the sniper rifle used by France's Armed Forces is more or less a modernized MAS 36; same receiver same action ect ect

  • great video as always.keep up the good work

  • Outstanding. I wish the guys in the gun shop I go to knew half what you guys know.

  • Barry has really small hands...I thought he was taller...

  • i have a new England pump 12 gauge and when its shot the bolt releases is this normal ? im not trying to waste no one's time im new to the gun world is this normal ? does it more with a slug then it does a low brass game load i realy would like to know what to do here

  • @groh1234

I'm not sure about your specific model, but this is normal in some shotguns. It can help to cycle the action faster because if you're pulling back on the pump it will start to cycle as soon as you fire.

  • @groh1234 This is normal. The recoil from a high brass shell will open the bolt if you are not holding the fore end correctly. Put more forward pressure on the fore end and your problem is solved. I had a 1955 J.C. Higgins that would do the same thing.

  • Just to say that I LOVE how Barry handles guns. he's so professional and it shows he's been around them for a long time. Every move is swift and clean, no muzzle sweeping, like it!

    @IraqVeteran8888: That's a very clean K98 right there. what's the price you'd apply for such a gun?

  • Great video, but I have to disagree on the Marlin comment, everyone that I know and / or met has a Winchester model 94 in theit closet, heh. Keep up the good work friend.

  • @MThrow Well in the South we can't afford a Winchester. So we go with the Marlin. Everybody I know in Ga has Marlins...in .30.30. I got mine from my dad when I was 13.

  • @metalhead2508 Lol, I live in the south (Florida) but then I bought my Winchester M94 like 30 years ago, it's not one of those angle eject jobs but an original. Marlin makes a great firearm, I have one in .45-70. I love it.

  • Great vid... Learnd something new :)

  • Can you do a GunGripe on ammo?

That would be great because sometimes I get confused about what what is..!

  • @OgamerNL +1 on the Ammo Gun Gripe!

And the "I need some 20 cal ammo for my Glock 20" or "do you carry cop killer bullets"??

  • the old cowboys used to carry a ten dollar bill rolled up in the empty chamber of their revolver. if anyone shot them, the ten dollars would be enough to bury them.

  • Gun gripes is defiantly my favourite series. More please.

  • Excellent videos, entertaining and more importantly informative.

  • you guys need to make a TV show... I really enjoy your Gun Gripes, Hi-Point torture test and Sporterizing Nagant series...

  • @Luka464 this is their show! they can put out whatever they want without having anyone tell them what to do!

  • Very informative, thanks for the post!

  • My gun gripe, grip safeties, pointless.

  • I just want to say thank you for this. These videos have great value.

  • i like that stainless glock. when did they start producing those?

  • Great video. Very informative.

  • I might be wrong but the 1911a1 I'd you leave the hammer all the way down it's unsafe because the firing pin is spring loaded and the hammer has no block so the hammer is directly on the end of the firing pin that's why half cock was made for leftys not trolling just pretty damn sure that's right if I'm right

  • @shane220222 The 1911's nowadays do have firing pin blocks. The 1911 is MADE to carry with the hammer cocked. It has a thumb safety and a grip safety that has to be disengaged before it can fire. Try thumbing a hammer when somebody is trying to shoot you in the face.

  • @metalhead2508 actually just the colt series 80 or those based off of it the series 70 does not the remington r1 does not and a couple others however the taurus does

  • @metalhead2508 no there dont only series 80 style 1911s do and they are not very common i know colt makes one and that the only onr i can think .i carry cocked and locked. more then you im sure. as for thumbing the hammer back it was done for hundreds of years didnt seem all that hard in the musket years, civil wars years, wild west years, colt single action army the ruger version. dont talk about shit you dont know

  • I would love to work with Berry !

  • Comment removed

  • 1:17 is that a yugo mauzer?

  • "They used to call it five beans in the wheel."

  • ...but I still love my Smith & Wesson SW40VE. I've lightened the trigger, so it now shoots more smoothly than before.

  • Thanks for the vids guys. These are always entertaining and informative. At first glance, Barry comes off as the typical gun counter jerk, however through these videos you get some insight as to why those guys exist (and see that Barry is a funny guy). I can only imagine explaining this stuff all day, every day for years. Keep em coming.

  • Barry, Would it be possible to to a short review of the S+W Sigma ? I feel that you are one of the few people that actually know the truth of this guns potential and can give it the recognition that it deserves.

  • great video guys hey Iraq Vet I'm sure your like myself who are Iraq Vets and happy our mission is over.

  • Man, what a great vid. Lots of new - to me - information in there. Thanks for the education!

  • Where do you guys purchase all your old surplus rifles at? The mauser was clean looking.

  • @nlandoutfitters they sell their guns on gunbrokerDOTcom under the seller name "Moss Pawn" (without quotes). They might have a Mauser there.

  • One of the best? come on, the Mauser IS the best of old school rifles.

  • Been waiting on gun gripes videos Thank you very much man.

  • I had no idea the Glock and the Sigma were so similar, wow

  • Was that a katana in that corner behind Barry?

  • Good vid.

  • These Barry vids are absolutely the best! Barry's a natural in front of camera.

  • Great video, you guys are the best!

  • @dammitcrap. The 686 and 686 plus with the firing pin on the hammer are safe to carry with every chamber loaded. I would bring it to a gunsmith to verify that it has a functional hammer block if you are not the original owner of the firearm.

  • Barry makes a good opolchenie

  • i got a question u probably know more about guns then i do but what wood u recommend between a Glock and a Beretta

  • Sounds like the only gripe is that glock classifies their pistol as DA.

  • cool video

  • I had to bite my tongue when my Platoon Sergeant was describing the difference of Single Action and Double Acton on the M9.

He said: In single action the shooter only has to pull the trigger to shoot the weapon, in double action, the shooter has to pull the hammer then pull the trigger.

I wanted to tell everyone: Single action means that the trigger only performs one action to fire the weapon. Double action means that the trigger does two actions before firing.

    Great vid.

  • Oh man that intro was priceless. Nostrovia!

  • so my s&w 686 is from the 80's and it has the firing pin affixed to the hammer... would this make it unsafe to carry with the hammer on a loaded cylinder? i normally carry my p220 but i was curious because i have been thinking of toting around the 686

  • what was the gripe???

  • Barry is an interesting fellow...

  • What about those semi-auto machine gun sniper rifle rocket launcher baby killer actions we hear so much about? Where is that example?

    Kidding, of course.

  • Great opening, lmao!

  • Man Barry knows his ...sh#@

  • The only problem with these vids is that the morons that most need to watch these are on a corner somewhere selling crack.

  • i love barry and his many costumes i love barrys acting

  • M1 Had the strongest action? I had read somewhere that the arisaka (38 or 99) had the strongest action - or was that only amongst bolt actions? Furthermore I would like to clarify that of the bolt actions tested, I am sure it wouldn't have been a 'last ditch' model. Cheers!

  • how much for the old revolver

  • stopped watchin when he got to the glock

  • So uh, what was the gripe? Loved it just the same. :)
