@daniel3231995 Zukerman has always cut the Kreisler Cadenza for the 3rd movement as is evident on his several recordings of the piece. The announcer Martin Bookspan did not misspeak, the original soloist was Nathan Milstein but Zukerman was a last minute substitute.
Cadenza is by Fritz Kreisler. It's is a shorter version than the one usually played, but the standard version is really too long for its content; certainly not on the level of Kreisler's cadenza for the first movement.
Lol.....sorry for my outburst,I actually forgot what a cadenza really was - the solo part in a concerto where the soloist can IMPROVISE on the main theme of the concerto...Guess Pinchas didn't include the traditional improvisation in his performance - too bad, really allowed for much virtuosic display.Actually,he just played it as it is which is good, but I would have loved for some improvisation,though...Lovely performance.
The cadenza you are referring to is often in the first movement of any violin concerto. I have seen Pinchas Perform the Beethoven violin concerto, And he does a rather impressive extended cadenza during the first movement.
What the hell happened to the cadenza?!!!Was this intentionally cut from the original recording or did Pinchas cut a majority part of the cadenza purposely?!!!I can not believe the latter since Pinchas is definitely a violinist whose caliber matches that of the Beethoven Violin Concerto. He definitely couldn't have cut the cadenza because he found it too difficult....And get it right speaker, this isn't Nathan Milstein - what an insult to Pinchas.
@xPatriarch ,Yes, more of that and we would have had peace on earth. So bad that Pinchas Zukerman gave up his solo and became a conductor, I think in Canada. Have you heard his recording from 1977 of another great master, Brahms?
