How do you kill a Yaris engine? Those little shitters are under no load, built by Toyota, there as bullet proof as engines get. If you dumped the oil and coolant, and wrapped the engine in insulating foil, youd still get 300,000Km out of it before you noticed it was running a little hot.

I got my unmodified 2008 Yaris over 180KPH driving from Isaan to Bangkok several times with little effort. I paid over 1800 baht to buy the best synthetic motor oil available (Mobil One from USA) and that seems to really help both the top end and my fuel economy. I think the electronic governor kicks in at 180 because it suddenly stopped accelerating although it seemed to have power and pedal left. GREAT CAR WELL ENGINEERED AND CAME NEW WITH NO DEFECTS

Ahem, I'd like to announce that I've hit ~185 (One hundred and eighty five) km/h a couple days ago. Sadly no video for that one (Because I'm not bad enough dude to record a video while driving at 185 km/h).

To accomplish this, I've over-inflated the tires to 40 PSI (For everyday driving, save gas, great slide). The ride was not too harsh but the car was shaking like hell when I went past 160 km/h.

So guys, try it! 10 PSI over-inflation gives you 10 km/h faster top speed!!!

I try not to push my Yaris this hard, I have a premonition of a piston comming lose and then me explaining to the dealer what happened afterward. At least he won't think I was racing it (lol) because it's impossible. Makes a great MPGmobile and alternative to a $10,000 more Prius which gets slightly higher mpg. I think electric P/S should come on all cars, then maybe electric a/c like the Prius.

I had a 02 4.7L Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the 0-60 time is a about 7 sec, did 16mpg. I also had a 98 Ford Escort ZX2 (2.0L) 0-60 was 9 sec just like the yaris! But 10 yrs ago it was supossedly about 7 sec, and it did 20+ mpg, I don't remember well.

Anyway, here in Brazil (I live here now) I have a Volkswagen Spacefox, it has a 1.6L engine, does 12mpg, and 0-60 time is 13 sec. Piece of shit. Don't buy VW's, seriously.

I have a Yaris and beleive me once you equip it right, it will tear up any car within it range. When I had my Yaris at stock, I beat a base Saturn Ion that had at least 150hp under the hood. Considering the car is a lot lighter than the others, that means it launches faster if u have it equiped.

I have a 1.0 vvt-i yaris and it beats any ff car off the line up to 30mph (if you launch it just right), will beat any standard 1.4 to 40, and well after that its pretty slow, yes. It corners like a fucking dream though and is piss easy do drive. So as 1.0l cars go, the yaris is a fucking beast, seriously!

Ah, I bought this car not because of its power or performance, but because that I can use it in everyday life and it's a very easy little car to drive. And it just passed the 1500th km. (run-in) so that I can floor the gas and I might do something 'brutal' to it next time :P.
