  • Do you realize how many times I had to hit the repeat button while flying down the freeway ?

  • Oh, my goodness ... from about 4:18 to 6:48 ...

  • what a way to go..............

  • I remember watching this song being played at a Beacon session in 01, and my father and I looking at each other like "How can this be played with out Duane" As he put it, "It was like Duane was there playing the guitar". He swore he closed his eyes and heard Duane. I'm not sure if that counts to Derek being so good or my dad having an acid flash back.

  • The first time I saw Derek Trucks was at Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa, Fl. He was 11 years old at that time.

  • how good is this band...a little jammy nowadays but i'd drop anything at anytime to go to see one of my very favorite bands.. Been going for forty years now...and GA is still my babydoll...I'm so glad he finally got his shit together..I was beginning to think he wouldn't make it like so many others in this industry... I can't imagine the stress,,but I am,,for one..always grateful for this wonderful gift they've given us.

  • What a bass!

  • 9 people hit the wrong button

  • Wow that was just beautfiul.Greg has always had one of the best voices in the biz and still has done.his phrasing and tone is just phenomenal.Derek must have really touched Greg when he brought out the slide,Duane would be proud.Very very touching.i saw them right before duane died. Duane is and always will be one of my favorite guitar players and the best blue slide players of all time

  • that's just amazing.

  • @floydivision: happy to watch a video with great camera work & great sound. I get crazy when camera is aimed at the guitar players face during most awesome of solos!! Thanks for the upload. Totally enjoyed it. ♫♥r

  • This song is just the best Allman Brothers EVER! Could just listen over and over.

  • Wicked!!!!

  • folks gotta remember this is almost a decade ago

i think derek is even scarier now on this song

    he just keeps getting better

i love every guitarist thats ever been in this band they are all legends every single one of them

but derek and warren are my all time favorite line up!

  • Just discovered Derek last week...amazing. You can hear the influence of the sarod...

    Love it!

  • Words fail...

  • Juat on e more morning, I had to wake yp with the bluies. Pulll myself outta bed, put on my working shoes. Went up on the the mountain, . To see what I could see.. The whole world was falling, right down in front of me.. Because I'm hung-up on dreams I've never seen.. This will surely be the end of me. ========================== Highly expressive line put to a CLASSIC BLUES jazz fusion.. god damn classic,
  • Greg looks pretty clean. He's always said that the Allmans don't play slow and don't play fast..they just play half-fast..lol.

  • Hi everybody,my name is Rodger and I am an addict (everybody says hi Rodger) and it was one day in September 1969 when I first bought an Allman Brothers Band record and I have been thankfully hooked ever since.

  • @HonestBlues ME TOO ♥ ain't it great?

  • @HonestBlues Hi Rodger

  • What a version. The kid hits it note for note.

  • What a version

  • sweet, pure, perfection, tonal harmonic fluid soul, pass dis on peoples so others can understand

  • Pulled myself outta bed, yeah

    Put on my walkin' shoes

    Went up on the mountain

To see what I could see

    The whole world was fallin'

Right down in front of me

'Cause I'm hung up on dreams

    I'll never see, yeah baby...

  • 4:17 hear the cheers

  • I would have loved to have heard John Coltrane play on this.....maybe in Heaven..

  • Wow...I am floored....as another poster said this is music brothers and sister...Duane would be proud.

  • it just flows on & sounds close to the 70s as it will ever get

  • good, but not as good as Dickey Betts.

  • i really like derek, i think he is one of today's generations guitar heroes. if only he would show more emotion when he performs his magic, it's all so sterile now :(

  • @bouwmr His emotion comes from his brain, passes right through his soul to his fingers...

  • The kid (Derek) really has the old timers on their heels. Even Warren! Rock on brothers.

  • @webgeek6 In the "Extras" portion of this DVD, Greg told a story on the DVD when they let Derek come on stange and play a couple numbers with them when Derek was only 12yrs old. Greg laughed, saying Warren said "Well, I think that's about enough now", saying that Warren was even intimidated by Derek's guitar prowess, even then! Greg said "Don't tell Warren I said that, though" :)

  • waingley, he is the nephew of Butch Trucks.

  • Whoa... imagine this while under the effect of magic shrooms...

  • the first time i saw or heard of derek was at the 7-7-99 phish show in charlotte, he appeared onstage with the band for a double encore of possum and a SMOKIN funky bitch during which he and trey exchanged guitar licks like fighters swap punches, totally kick ass...

  • I've not heard of Derek until this video... Wow, what a performance!

  • @robertwsweet Derek said he grew up listen to the ABB w/ Duane, and it sure shows. Close your eyes, and it's like hearing Duane's ghost! Greg DOES let him play around with some of the leads (which sounds great, as the ABB have always been a "jam band"), but Derek always remains true to the all the "signature stuff". Truly a guitar phenom. Sure keeps Warren on his toes, though!

  • And God said, "Play the guitar, Derek. And if y'all do real good, I'll bring you a beautiful woman named Susan."

    And he did.

    And it was good.

  • @krogmank Beautiful with much thanks to Derek and u for the post! ♫♥r

  • * * * * *

    A W E S O M E

  • what is the song by them that is really funky and awesome, it's an instrumental and uses alot of keyboards and stuff, and it's got that one riff where it's all doo dununu doo doo dana doo dununu doo doo, I'm not talking about jessica, I heard it on the radio and know it's by them, please help me out guys

  • @bobopatchigglerrulez you might try "in memory of elizabeth reed,' one of there best instrumentals

  • @ramied77 yeah I found it already, it is that one, thanks though, it's so good, two days ago it came on the radio while I was driving home, it was the sunset and it was the greatest song ever in that moment haha

  • @bobopatchigglerrulez Desdemona maybe

  • Comment removed

  • @bobopatchigglerrulez high falls-on the win,lose or draw album 1976?

  • this is absolute beautiful guitar work from Derek Trucks. pure perfection!

  • Thanks for providing this video of an unforgettable performance! I'll be buzzing for a while thank you...

  • 5:56

Warren: "WHAT THE HELL IS HE???"

  • Yah Bits, Play That Guitar Boy eeeeeeeee!

  • AAAAMAAAAZIIIIING. THAT'S ALL.

  • 8 RETARDS WATCHED THIS !!

  • Yeah!!! i luv this. 2 of my fave bands! Thank U 4 posting.

  • Pure music at its best... Derek Trucks kills it once again- this band give you a good show all the time. 100%

  • Oooooh gives me chiiiiils!

  • I don't know how to give you the recognition you deserve for your performance you (derrick) presented here, in this song: DREAMS.

  • the level of concentration, intensity, and professionalism of all the musicians is 5 star. not an unserious bone in any of em.

  • Damn Derek Trucks can play!!! He hit that right on the head, exactly!!!

  • Absolutely stunning.

  • i love how he incorporates the old duane solo into this

  • Don't forget badass Warren Haynes!!

  • Maybe the best solo I have ever heard! The magnificent Derek Trucks!!!

  • @yokozuna021 - yep good stuff I also recommend the band Camel, some of their lead works is just fabulous

  • Muchas gracias. Música para soñar y moverse, activarse... ¡Zénkuis!

  • oteil is the best!

  • Aliens have invaded earth and have taken form as blue shirt wearing, ponytail sporting, SG weilding, guitar players. Close your eyes, open your ears and let them bring joy to your inferior little eardrums. I mean can any human solo like that besides Derek Trucks...... INCREDIBLE!!!

  • Shut up and listen to the music! Are you stupid as well as ignorant?

  • Greg and the boys = Wild Bird of Freedom in Full Flight!

  • damn. Epic. That is incredible stuff. No one even comes close to that musical genius.

  • @goldenchopsticks, calling you a filthy pig would be an insult to filthy pigs

  • @yardbyrdz Dude leave him alone. It's obvious he's ignorant or really young and immature! Allman bro's great band!! RIP DUANE............That was some funny sh#@!

  • AMEN ALMartinez5,......AMEN!

  • Gregg is the heart of this band! He took that on when they lost Duane..as long as he lives, so does this band and its music ...I go 3 to 4 times a year to see them...if you dont feel this music then you dont get it...

  • I dunno why.......but this is compelling as hell. I didn't think I'd like it without all those band mates.....but they did a great job with this.

  • I seen the allman brothers about 10 years ago..WORST concert ever..Sorry but they sucked..

  • perfect... just perfect

  • Love Derek Trucks ~ he's amazing!

  • such wonderful feeling in Dereks playing... so sweet, a perfect example of less being more...

  • I would give a testicle to have been front row at this show.

  • caw these cats in calgary in the 90's. was fun then as it is now. (set 2 etc.)

  • Love Love Love the Allman Brothers and Derek Trucks and Warren Hanes what's not to LOVE

  • today I am dedicating this song to the memory of Master Corporal Richard Curnow, who served 2 tours in Afghanistan with the Canadian Forces.

  • The Allman Brothers jamming live make me want to light up a fattie and just drift away . . . Phew!

  • type derrick trucks layla, as a kid he was pretty good

  • Wish I had been there.

  • This is probably one of the most boring songs I've ever had the displeasure of listening to.

  • @evilnarc and you must be deaf or too young to know real music or talent

  • @LWayne38 Maybe i just find this BORING? Honestly. If I wanted to listen to a proper guitar centric band, I'd listen to fuckin' Hendrix. At least his playing was EXCITING. And that he wasn't the ONLY INTERESTING DUDE IN THE BAND!

  • @evilnarc we see l wayne some nigghr shit

  • @evilnarc Well yeah it is borning. Todays Allman Brothers Band doesn't come close to the creativity and excitment as the orginal band. Listen to Eat a Peach or Live At The Fillmore East and listen to the way the original band was so creative and the way they could swing so tight like the big bands of the 40's. And when is the current band going to come up with some new magic like this song or Liz Reed or Jessica or Mellisa or Whiping Post or Blue Sky? They sure as hell can't create anything new.

  • @evilnarc dude this is music ya feel

  • @evilnarc Your band cant even tune their own instruments.

  • @goldenchopsticks And what does my band have to do with this? You went through the trouble of looking through my YouTube account and watching one of my videos just to be able to have some shit to fling at me? How pathetic.

Why don't you be go butthurt about someone not liking a band you're gay about somewhere else.

  • @evilnarc Hahaha I went to your channel by clicking the link of your name, and watched one video, get the hell over yourself and stop acting like I spent more than 2 minutes on you. How about you grow a pair of ears? Better yet, grow a whole set for your band.

  • @goldenchopsticks Wow, somebody sure is pissed that someone thinks that the band that he lost his anal virginity to isn't very good!

  • @evilnarc Hahaha tune your guitars first, then listen bro!

  • Comment removed

  • Derek Trucks is amazing.....

  • I wish Derek and Warren did some more Thin Lizzy harmonized dual lead parts like there were hints of at 7:40

  • @MorbidHumanity666 wait your going to refer to harmonized guitar parts as "thin Lizzy..."

I always referred to that as the Allman Bros. And I guess more specifically as Dickie Betts

  • warren was just knocked out on this one...

  • OMG!!! What a solo!!!

  • A good Dreams but never as good as Duane did it. Find the versions where Duane and Dickey play lead together in Dreams when Duane switches to slide. That version is unbelievable. I don't know why they did not do that way more often!

  • @Trademark691 BTW, Happy Birthday to Butch Trucks... :)

  • Might as well call the band "The Truck's Family" =D

  • @amin1950 maybe it was subconscious :O ... spooky

  • @amin1950 oh thats hot. does your girlfriend solo too?

  • Saw Greg Allman and his band at Sunfest in West Palm Beach 4/29. He played this song , Melissa and a jazzed up version of Whipping Post. Awesome show.

  • you my boy hit it with me and i was there. note for note! i only hope those guitars are your dada beause, in my mind you're a clone.

it would be a true gas if you were producing and arranging.

i'm left handed - got my first guitar at seven. my dad made hold it upside down.

now my left needs support, that's my guitar. thanks dad.

without driving a stupid argument, duane was ahead of his time.

  • More Cowbell!!!

  • Derek Trucks. You are a role model for the youth of today.

Please guide them out of the darkness of today's junk music, into the sunshine of real music.

    God bless!

  • @amin1950 I soloed yesterday and plan on doing so again today!

  • Awesome! There is no black and white here...its MUSIC....and togetherness...which is righteous!!!

  • So good it gives me the chills.

  • Saw them many times at Great Woods outside, too memorable. My favorite song from the band. Also had the Allman Joys 'album', way back.

    @skip, get a Hammond B3 organ.

  • this is REAL music brothers and sisters.

  • @ALMartinez5 Yes sir it is...

  • skip4309wtf - i agree with your old time opinion haha. im only 19 but the allman brothers are the single biggest influence on my playing. I am a keyboardist of 12 years by the way. my dad got me into abb when i was about 12 and the song jessica inspired me to stick with piano and learn to play some good music. RIP Duane and Berry

  • Molly Hatchet was great in their own right...no way can they compare to the Allman Bros....they need a slap in the face even if they think they were remotely compared to the the Allmans....period. Thats my old timer opinion...

  • You can always distinguish Derek Trucks on guitar.

  • One latin guy, two black guys, four Caucasian guys... Scratch that..... Seven excellent musicians called The Allman Brothers Band

  • 8 little fagots........... Ha Ha shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttt

  • These southerners know how to get down. Skynyrd ain't got shit on this.

  • how can you not love this....forever

  • great jam

  • SoberAllmanBrosBand is on drugs - bad drugs at that. Duane was other-worldly, and for 5 minutes here Derek Trucks channeled Duane. Pick up a white chip, SABB...

  • Pat Travers bass sounds very similar on Crash n Burn

  • If Derek smokes on this song, it´s more than ok. It´s even equal what he did - essential he playes guitar!!!

  • Derek Trucks smokes on this song.

  • @herrerameade

fuck! it´s equal - he played guitar!!!

  • That boy did that song proud.

    Great version.

    Thanks for posting.

  • thank you captslicnic. I hope you told him he was an uncultured little fool.

  • Hatchet was a garage band. The Brothers were and are the best damn band in the land!

  • @robinjones251 Agreed.. They were just a cheap imitation. The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd (1973-1977), and Marshall Tucker are the only real deal when it comes to southern rock. Hatchet couldn't hold those bands guitars.

  • Is Derek trucks related to butch? Saw him with Eric Clapton

  • @sparkie2033 Derek is Butch's nephew.

  • @sparkie2033 yes. Butch is his Uncle I believe

  • Hatchet's version is also good, but more a straight-up rock tune and less jazzy. Hatchet was good at what they did but they were not quite the players that the Allmans are. Especially now, with Gregg sober and Dickey gone, the level of musicianship has never been better. What a great, classic tune. What strikes me here is how good Gregg's organ and the percussion sounds in the live mix.

  • Derek pretty much has the sound of Duane down.

Especially toward the end of the song.

One of my favorites from the " Boys ."

Grew up getting high and listening to this back in the early 70s.

It will live on forever as a great tune....Duane did it best !.

  • @SpainishArcher thank you Dolph, this is very nice. Like it a lot. I listened to them when i was 13, still works! Funny to see Warren Haynes on vid! lol, usually i see him on Furthur vids, or any other Dead related

  • What a sound. Amazing guitar work

  • If anyone doesn't like this, you need to go get yourself checked because something is wrong with ya! Its not about whos better than who, Its all about the groove and thats some groovy groove right there! Thats all I got to say about that! LOL

  • Molly Hatchet version is good, but its also a re-work of the original. Dave Hlubek put his stamp on it, but it doesn't compare to the Allman Brothers original is great.

  • Check out Gregg Allman's new solo disc, Low Country Blues. Pretty cool disc if you like the jazzy melodic groove that many of the ABB songs have. I believe Doyle Bramhall plays on the disc with him, who is very good in his own right. Warren also plays on a song or two.

  • Duane would be very proud.

  • what tuning is derek playing?

  • @Iamlegend1234 He usually plays open E.

  • deze zomer komt greg allman naar weert op bospop 2011

  • @flymarvin What? Garbage? That's a totally different band. They have a chick singing for them. Garbage! Sheesh, well that's the beauty of music. Everyone likes something a little different. Tha'ts what makes the world go around I guess.

  • @flymarvin AND A WHOLE LOT MORE SAY YOUR AN IDIOT! feel free to go listen to your hanna montana and justin bieber "music"(i use that term lightly) and let us ADULTS listen in peace!

  • this first soloist is like a statue

  • WHERE'S DICKIE??????????????

  • Love the brothers and Derek, the family vibes through this are amazing. Derek really talkin to Duane. Love this video, love this song, love this band and everyone associated with them. :))))))

  • One of the best bands of all time!

  • Allman's original is in kind of a "jazz waltz" three feel, Buddy miles put it into a funky four beat to the measure groove, which was nice also. these drumers have been playing this groove for about 40 years now, I'd say they have it down. Greg was still singing great, best wishes on his liver transpant

  • Thank you for posting this. Exquisite.

  • Is that Greg Allman or John Voigt singing? No matter, still sounds great and brings back great memories of the early 70's at MSG in NY, Roosevelt Stadium in NJ, and Nassau Coliseum on the Island!!

  • @bturbet John Voight?

  • @iwanttoplayfisch Angelina Jolies dad.....he's a ringer!

  • Someone once asked me who I thought was the greatest American band. I said--Besides the Allman Brothers?

  • Really gives me a warm feeling to see Derek up there playing his heart out. He's wonderful! I hope Duane's listening....Butch must be so proud.

  • i wonder what its like watching your son pay homage to a great slide player from behind the drums in one of the greatest bands. great video and thank you for posting

  • @mrjoelphil Butch Trucks is Derek's uncle.

  • @pwk22 thanks bud.

  • The Allman Brothers band are the ONLY Southern Rock Band I care to listen to . never liked Skynard that much, And Hatchet, ZZ, 38 Special ETC will never be as good as this band is / was in any time period you choose. The thing I don't understand is how ANYONE could dislike this song / band or performance . Thanks for uploading this video . Absolutely awesome performance .

  • @kbdevo1962 Do you like Segovia?

  • @iwanttoplayfisch aaahhh . Do You mean Andrés Segovia ? I have never really listened to him play . Is he a virtuoso or something ? I love lots of different types of music , But as you must know , it is impossible to hear it all . I must know of at least 50 or 60 artists that have been popular for a long time that I have never listened to a single song by . And I have probably forgotten a couple of thousand .So much music so little time to experience it .

  • @kbdevo1962 Yes Andres Segovia.

  • Talk about touch WOW!
