I hope you upload new video if you brought new eyepieces or a barlow i'd like to see how it looks since your one of the very few that uploaded vids of this scope...i keep finding xt8 or xt10 vids...
@iraq1974 I just used a digital camera and held it in front of the eye piece, it's harder to film that way when you use eyepieces with higher power. But it worked with the 25mm one, you just have to hold your hands steady.
nice spikes on Jupiter, very nice view! Nice and sharp, I think a few hgher power eyepieces will really surprise you in what detail you can see on this planet. :)
I got almost similar results with my 2" refractor @ 60X magnification when I viewed Jupiter the second time. Unfortunately, I couldn't take vid. Yeah, you should get new eyepieces.
I seem to be fixated with Jupiter at the moment. Still trying to get that perfect picture of it. I should be all set by the time it has that next close pass in what was it 2022 or 27? lol It's a heck of a hobby we have chosen but man it's fun!
@skimmy3394 You will see Saturn's rings and Jupiters bands with the XT6 using a 25mm eyepiece. I reccomend buying the xt6, that scope gathers much more light which means that you will see a lot more detail on the objects you're viewing :) Also, you should buy a 2x barlow lens, that lens will double the magnification and give you a real boost on the size of the objects! When it comes to galaxies you won't see a whole lot. Not even on the Andromeda galaxy :/ It takes a huge scope to (out of words)
thank you so so much for the reply!! I will now consider into buying the xt6.
I am very excited! and thank you for notifying me about the 2x barlow lens. I am planning on buying it from amazon and i get to choose if i want this filter lens or not. do you think that would be necessary if i get the barlow lens?
@skimmy3394 of course it doesnt take a huge scope to just SEE it, i meant seeing it clearly with a sharp image of all the contures and so on. All we can see with our scopes is a fussy bright patch , i mean, you can see that it's clearly a galaxy, we just can't see it the way many people are hoping to see it...
@Goalatio of course it doesnt take a huge scope to just SEE it, i meant seeing it clearly with a shard image of all the contures and so on. All we can see with our scope is a fussy bright patch , i mean, you can see that it's clearly a galaxy, we just can't see it the way many people are hoping to see it..
@Goalatio I use stellarium and i know that im looking at Andromeda... There's no way you can see all the fine lines with a 5" scope. It's all fussy, and it always will be when we're looking at it through such small scopes as ours
@vebbto i found it the other nite... and all i could see waz like a smug of light.... but, then again... its only 2.93 Million ly's away... haha.. and all i have is a 5" but, i have been gettin some amazing view's of Jupiter and its moons... i took some photo's the other nite... with just a point and shoot camera...
Anyways, my first time finding Andromeda was quite a challenge, as I only had a 20mm eyepiece (Less FoV than yours!). Just don't give up.. You'll find it eventually.. The first time is always amazing. :)
You probably will not see what you expect; Andromeda looks like a gray smudge, and its companion M110 may require some sharp eyes.
@vebbto Hi, I'm thinking of buying this as my first scope. Would you recommend it as a first time one? Also how big is this because I get the impression thats its pretty big and bulky. I'm a newbie at astronomy.
@vebbto Hi Vebbto, am plannin to buy a telescope, i just wanna know is this the best you can observe jupiter thru this scope? or is there someway to increase the magnification of this scope so that jupiter looks lot more closed and detailed....? please help me out buddy
@hummerume Hey there, you can buy much better eye pieces than what i have :) I used a 25 mm, if you buy a 10 mm for instance, the magnifiaction will increase dramatically. And i could see the bands, its just the camera that "fails" sort of :)
@vebbto Add a x2 barlow to that 10mm and you will REALLY see a difference. I'm not sure how you would shoot video though. Using an eyepiece with a webcam actually decreases mag. which in some cases is good,ie wide lunar shots. A webcam on a XT6 and x2 Barlow will yield some great photos once stacked. Love my Orion XT6
I sold my telescope a few months ago, so unfortunately i won't be able to upload more videos. I will however buy another telescope soon!

What type of camera did you use, I have been unable to take any pictures whatsoever through my XT6, I have several eye pieces by the way.

Hey that is not bad at all for a 25mm eyepiece.

hi, i am very new to astronomy and i plan on buying this scope.
i am hoping to see clearly, all of the planets and galaxies.
is that possible with just the 25 mm? because i want to be able to see the rings of saturn and jupiter in a decent size.
also, would you recommend the xt6 over the 4.5? is there a significant amount of difference between the two?

@vebbto It does not take a huge scope to see Andromeda. :)
I can see it clearly through my 11x56 binoculars, and it's amazing through my 5"..
Maybe you just arn't looking in the right place.. Or maybe you just overlooked it.
I recommend Stellarium, just tell it where you are located, and it will show you where objects are.
Also, I highly recommend a pair of binoculars, it makes finding semi-dim objects much easier.. Like Andromeda and star clusters.

Even though you used a low powered eyepiece, just seeing Jupiter's moons is still a fascinating site. One that most people have never experienced.

This is exactly how I can see Jupitor with my XT8. I can also make out the cloud bands on jupitor through my xt8.
