FYI- Chinese men would steal bound foot slippers off the chinese girls as they slept, ejaculated into them and put them back so the girl woke up to a gooey surprise... eeeeeeks
Just thought you might want to know that one of the pics you use (first at 0:55) is not a foot, but a foot-shaped cake made for a podiatrist's birthday (the idea was a foot problem that he had never personally seen).
Just FYI. It is cake, and seeing cake kind of brought me out of the place you'd started to create.
@anaxanaxanax Yes...it could be true what you say...but don't you think that makes it all the better . 1) It ties in with the words...Sacrificial Alter...and 2) The fact he had to have a cake made to make him WAKE up to reality...makes it even more profound than I could have hoped for. Thank you for the info...

@WyldeCards It defies comprehension...but did begin because a past Emperor wanted his wife to have 'Lotus' feet...and then it was considered the only way that a woman might get a husband.
@xyzllii really? I thought the emperor had a daughter name empress taki whos feet was deformed and saving her from humiliation told people it was some mark of beauty to have small lotus feet.
@bobatii Princess Taki was Japanese...and I have no doubt there could be some story similar to what you describe...but that is not this story. Thank you for watching and commenting.
As always Kristine - you nailed it. To me this is just a symbol of all the horrible things people do all over the world, all over time in the name of 'beauty'. So much of it appears to be to keep women in their place. To keep us beholden. As I listened and the images appeared, my blood pressure rose. And we can't just blame men - women do it to one another; we allow this sort of oppression - almost invite it sometimes.
"An onion peeled away to nothing." What an apt and powerful metaphor for this rank and misogynistic practice. Once in a Cross-cultural Humanities class at university, a professor sanctioned this tradition (with some reservations) in the name of "culturtal relativism". Come on. Silk slippers and gowns cannot cover up cruelty and domination. Thanks for this compelling work.
This flames my anger at stupid cruelty and ignorance. People are guilty of horrific acts of pain inflicted on innocents. Why? And how do we end it? How do we get out of Afghanistan? Etc? Etc? Well done video.
@Idlinfarm I feel the same Ida...anger at the cruelty...and yet the women did it to their daughters...knowing the pain of breaking toes and arches...the mind cannot comprehend it.
so ... communism wasn't all bad because it put an end to this horrific practise ... strange though that we find this mutilation so obviously wrong, yet think nothing improper in fileting the chest and stuffing plastic bags filled with gel inside ... beauty has a cockeyed beholder.
Where the cake?
