Nice video, But I have a question. Can I install OSX snow leopard as an upgrade later with the compatible hardware that you have displayed in your videos? or do I need additional hardware?
Hey Fox. I have a HP G60 laptop with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (2.0GHz), 250GB Sata HDD, 3GB RAM and an nVideo GeForce 9200m GE graphics card... I've spent soooo much time trying to see if these specifications will work but I have not found anything! If I partition my HDD do you think I could get Snow Leopard running nicely on this machine? Thanks a lot and I would REALLY appreciate it if you're the person who finally helps me!
hey there, i install OS X on my dell inspiron 1501 and It installs BUT i cant get quartz extreme or open GL...I bought star wars knights of the old republic for mac i also have a desktop, both running AMD, i am aware OS X is impossible to run on the amd hardware. HELP!
I've gone through many methods to install Mac on my laptop - But no matter what distro/version/leo/snow leo/tiger it always just says "Still waiting for root device"
My laptop has an AMD Sempron 2.1ghz processor, nVidia 8200m, 2gb RAM, And it's a Compaq CQ60 300-EV...Please help.
@mearsy09 This is the dreaded root device error. I'm sorry, but there is no one simple solution for everyone. I've tried a variety of things that people say fixed their problem, but it didn't fix mine when I had it.
Go to InsanelyMac (the website) and do a search for "waiting root device." Try any and all solutions suggested. It'll be a long and arduous process. Best of luck.
hi fox, m using a asus P5N73-AM mother board, core 2 duo 2.8 ghz, 2gb ddr2 ram, sata dvd, i couldnt even find any mac distro to instal in my PC, is there is any way to do this..
he.. Why didn't you show us how to/where to install the drivers for graphics. I know it myself but for starters this could be tricky thing. I'm going to do a 100% hackintosh install using iDeneb dual booting with Windows 7 but I'm not sure if my MSI R5770 is compatible with it as its a newer card with DirectX 11 and such
@omgz19921 Sounds like you're trying to install on the optical drive. You can't do that, since it's just a drive that connects to your optical (DVD) drive. You need to have an available hard drive or partition. I don't recommend the partition method, but you can do that. You will need to reformat your drive to repartition in, in most cases. That means losing everything on the drive.
Search for OSX86 compatibility lists. It's really a matter of what other users have said about it. It's a community effort, people just like me and you trying things out and then letting others know how it went.
That depends on whether or not you install to a different hard drive or partition. I fully, 100% recommend installing Mac OS X and Windows on separate hard drives, not just separate partitions, because Windows has never played well with other operating systems.
If you have only one hard drive and install it on that, it will overwrite Windows.
When I use OSx86 Tools to install EFI Disk, I get a message that says Chameleon was successfully installed, but when I boot up without the 132 CD, it says there is no boot device installed. How do I fix that?
I have two guesses here. #1 is that the installation didn't finish properly for some reason. #2 is that you do not have the proper hard drive set to the boot device (boot device #1). Verify #2, and then find and download Chameleon (latest version). Run it on the drive with Mac OS X. OSX86 Tools is no longer being updated if I remember correctly, so it is a bit out of date.
I think OSX doesn't have the driver for my motherboard on the hard disk, which prevents it from booting up. It works with the boot 132 CD I found for my motherboard, but how do I get those files installed permanently into snow leopard? Whenever I Google the kexts for the motherboard, I only get kexts for the audio or LAN ports. I never find any specific kexts for the north-bridge or the south-bridge. Are there supposed to be any, or am I approaching this the wrong way?
If you are using a standard SATA hard drive (5400 or 7200), it does not require any drivers at all. However, you are right that what SATA port you plug the drive into does matter. Use your motherboard's "standard" set of SATA connectors, not the special ones (which are a different color or in a different location). The additional ones often don't have support in Mac OS X, and in Windows they are generally geared for RAID setups.
dude i really need some help ive downloaded "boot 123" do i need to make the files into an iso. because i put all the loose files onto a cd hoping that it would work but it didnt.
ddr3 isnt worth the extra money so get ddr2. Pretty much all ram works with osx. Motherboard and graphics card are the two things you have to worry about.
Very useful videos, well done, except for the fact that you keep whining about minor things like how "OS X" is pronounced or repeating over and over to unplug all other hard drives, when all you had to warn people to be careful. Sometimes you need to learn no to wander off in long boring side talk.
No. Those discs will check whether your machine is the correct machine for installation. For example, the install discs with a MacBook Pro would not install on a MacBook, nor would, the iMac discs install on a Mac Pro. They recognize that the computer is not the original intended computer.
What are your recommendations on upgrading, I'm guessing never because when I go and look at compatible versions of OSX on OSx86 it seems like the list of compatable components only gets shorter the more it's upgraded. I guess I'm not used to having a solid OS like leopard but I'm just kind of skittish about the switch because I know my computer wouldn't last a month without updates.
I've been updating with every available update via Software Update without a problem. The only issue I encountered was the latest update for Final Cut Studio causes me trouble, but that is common even on "real" Macs.
I recommend backing up before you update, just in case. Time Machine works well for that.
hey could I use a Asus P5W DH Deluxe Motherboard and use iboot nividia and snow leopard upgrade disk?

@thejapanesechallenge
Wont that really depend on the partitions?
Because i was thinking of using Windows as primary, and have OSX as a secondary OS, on a seperate partion on the same harddisk.

You can try it if you'd like. I don't recommend it.
