Plumbers tape is not PTFE. It is teflon. I've never had a problem with the stuff, however, if I ever do have a problem with it, I will let everyone know about it. I will keep a close watch on it. Thanx for the tip.
Teflon doesnt like just anything, since as a chemical substance is pratically perfectly stable . Just keep in mind and dont forget that teflon is not stable towards heat (>~200-250°C) and above this will decompose into VERY toxic fluorocarbon compounds.

why not try burning the steel wool before putting it in the flashback arrestor so it does not burn again.

i read somewhere the ptfe tape will not like the hydrogen.try not to blow yourself up.

See my other video testing the torch, as stated this is not for a long term use, it's only good for short term, or demonstration.
