  • This march is a favourite in Britain too - often used by the British Army.since the 19th century.

  • Forgotten Hope 2 FTW

  • YES....thanks for a version WITHOUT all the clapping which obscures part of the music. I listen to music to HEAR it, not a bunch of people clapping.

  • superb version. danke schoen. Far superior to karajan.

  • Radetzky assassino, porco, macellaio!!!!!

  • @joannes71 Shut up, Italian traitor! Long live Radecký!

  • @orel753 there's no answer for an ignorant that clearly show, with his words, to doesn't kwow history. Thank you ignorant

  • @joannes71 "Treason" means Italian behaviour in 1915. And in 1848, Feldmarschall Radecký captured countless Milanese insurgents, but he ordered to execute only one of them, a retired Austrian soldier of non-Italian origin, who started to shoot at his former brothers-in-arms. Therefore there is no reason to call Radecký an "assassin".

  • @orel753 I do not know what does your history book, but here's what mine says: Josef Radetzky, the Austrian field marshal in the battle of Curtatone Tuscan massacred hundreds of students came to fight for independence, which in Custoza humbled King Charles Albert, then besieged and conquered by starvation and cholera, and the Venetian Republic in 1849, appointed Governor General of Lombardy and Venetia,

  • @joannes71 had run one thousand executions of patriots and gave orders to beat up in public and to plunder the houses and palaces of those who were suspected that he sympathized with the first stirrings of the Renaissance

  • @joannes71 He simply defeated larger Italian armies, that's the "humiliation" of Custoza. He was suppressing the revolution, and neither the rebels nor his army was behaving well. "revolution is not a dining party". Besieged cities are often subject to starvation and diseases. And already during the revolution, Milanese crowds were looting in palaces of rich people and didn't care whether or not do they support Austria.

  • @joannes71 And since you have already expressed no interest in this debate, I suggest we finish it.

  • @orel753 Categorically refusing to terminate this discussion, at least until, by reason of the facts and history, is more than clear that there are Italians who have a deep historical memory and the murderers in uniform who despise as Radetzky.

  • @joannes71 Allright then, prepare a list of soldiers who were winning battles and wars by good words only.

  • @orel753 I think there is a misunderstanding on the basis of our discussion. I like Italian, about the Butcher of Radetzky, I do not have to prove anything. The story speaks for itself. The government of the Lombardo Veneto Radetzky has unleashed a hatred that the subject populations (not governed), to bring them to revolt. The Piedmont and Cavour is inserted

  • @orel753 very easily in this situation favorites, especially, repression and murder by Radetzky.

  • @joannes71 I don't understand the sentence. As far as murders are concerned, what do you think about Orsini's attempt to kill Napoleon III in 1858?

  • @orel753 My post was not a question, was a statement and a prosecution for serious Radetzky's crimes against helpless civilians. I also ask the courtesy, since we are talking of the butcher (Radetsky), not to introduce irrelevant topics (Orsini) or I will think that that you does not have arguments to defend your hero's murderess.

  • @joannes71 Radecký was not a butcher. He was born in XVIII century, he was a loyal Imperial soldier, thus he was suppressing any enemies of his master. He had no understanding of the Risorgimento, he had no reason to tolerate the insurgents in Northern Italy.

Italian freedom fighters in 1848 were no helpless. They had weapons and many of them were killing Austrian solldiers who fell into their hands. .

  • @joannes71 I have also asked on your opinion on Italian commanders who were suppressing the rebellion in Milano in 1890's, using artillery and shooting at harmless people.

You have called Radetzky an "assassin". That's the main reason why I asked at Orsini, since his attempt to kill Napoleon III was an **assassination** attempt and he killed many absolutly harmless people.

  • @orel753 So, in summary, your arguments to justify the atrocities carried out by Radetzky are born in the seventeenth century, was a loyal soldier Imperial, did not understand the resurgence. For these reasons, in your opinion, was free to kill or imprison those who wanted it.

  • @joannes71 If you are speaking about inprisonment, that's no matter of this debate. We are arguing about whether or not he was an assassin and murderer. As far as I am informed, he was not punishing people for what they were thinking. He was punishing people who have rebelled. That is a difference.

  • @orel753 Quote from Wikipedia: (The repression of Radetzky) Penalties and punishments decimate an entire generation of professionals, doctors and priests a little more than a few 'in all the cities of Lombardy and Veneto. Not to mention the drama (and family) of the exiles, whose assets were seized (with special attention to the most wealthy).

  • @joannes71 Another quotation of Wikipedia (Haynau): "The mob of Brescia had massacred invalid Austrian soldiers in the hospital, a provocation which led to reprisals." And (Papal Zouaves) "Several Zouaves were executed or murdered by the Italian forces following the surrender, including a Belgian officer who refused to give up his sword"

Radecký was persecuting Italian patriots, because they have rebelled.

  • @orel753 I must say that it is very difficult to communicate on the same cultural level, when the other side are not exposed thesis but excuses. I will give away so this sterile discussion

  • @joannes71 Allright then.

  • @orel753 The criminal policy of repression and Radetzky was such a failure that his emperor, Francis Joseph, described his way of ruling as a "regime senile" and as soon as there was the possibility exonerated him from office

  • @orel753 As for the title of the murderess, who fully deserves Radetsky, you probably do not recognize him because you are not murderess was not Italian and your people to suffer: murder, torture, imprisonment and confiscation.

  • @orel753 Add, finally, that the criminal policy being implemented by Radetsky, as well as deeply hurting the people of Lombardy and Veneto, has carved a groove made of distrust and hatred of the Germanic peoples, which made it difficult for the Italians relationships with these people

  • @joannes71 Italian relationship with the Prussians was good. In 1866, Italy and Prussia joined forces against Austria. And in 1882, Italy, Austria and Germany formed the Triple Alliance. Nizza, Savoia, Tunisia, Corsica were not held by Germanic peoples.

  • @orel753 Also use any crime committed by Italians to justify acts of Radetzky. I inform you that a crime is still a crime. I do not condone any case, even if made by my fellow countryman. But in this thread talking about Radetsky, murderess, torture and imprisonment of convicted Italian soklo to aspire to independence and freedom

  • @joannes71 I didn't write that it was kind of him. But he didn't act more brutal than other commanders. You can call him an "assasssin" only in case you call also the others "assassins". Many other commanders (Napoleonic wars, Carlist wars in Spain) were regularly committing much worse things than Radecký.

And whatever you think of him, he was a great soldier.

  • @orel753 It points out that everything I write has no bearing on the 1915. Is previous history and is an indictment against a man who does not deserve the title of "soldier" but he has earned to murderess.

  • @joannes71 We are not arguing about (for example) Haynau, we are arguing about Radecký. He had enormous merits during the Napoleonic wars (he was already a chief of staff at Leipzig and he had prepared the battle plan). This single episode is quite sufficient to call him a soldier.

In 1890's, there was another mutiny in Milano. Italian army suppressed it with enormous brutality, killing hundreds of innocent people indiscriminatively. Do you call your troops "soldiers", or "murderers"?
