The only thing to me, is, when you go into abandoned buildings, they're usually well taken over by SPIDER WEBS! Which, freak me out enough. Plus, thick coatings of dust. Other than that, I don't have an opinion on the validity of this. Dark streets in the big city are adequately spooky.
