That's just adorable. I see the adults all the time but have never seen the babies, much less a parent feeding a chick. What a treat!

I hope you put the cat in the house so the chick could stand a chance. I love Goldfinches, I buy thistle seeds for them.

I think the baby got away OK! There are a lot of cats around but I think it learned to hide and fly after a while.
