Because the knives are so expensive(around $1200, last time I checked) that even relatives who don't want to make their kids/nephews/nieces/whatevers feel like failures rarely buy them. Or is it speculated that they didn't buy a set, but just a piece? Keep in mind, I'm not trying to defend him, I'm just pointing out that Cutco actually looks pretty highly on people who make their clients feel sorry for them, whether it be intentional or not(based on what I've heard).

I agree with you about when ex-military personnel abuse their status. However, as someone with Asperger's Syndrome, I feel you should know that singling us out, saying: "They shouldn't be held to the same standards as us, they're different!", even if you're well-intended, is far more humiliating as de-humanizing than any direct insult thrown at us.(continued in my next post)

Saying that we should be "protected" and "helped" to a point where we shouldn't be considered responsible for our actions suggests a lack of faith in our ability to fend for ourselves. A teacher's aid was forced upon me in middle school, and everytime I think about it I get upset, because it shows how little confidence my counsolers and parents had in my ability to adapt.

@Funkybob2 I didn't mean to offend you BUT you know in our culture some people are given more respect based on certain attributes. I mean why is there a rule "Never hit a woman, even if she hits you first?" It seems some women would take offense to that, and say, "That's putting all women into a category saying they are all too weak to fend for themselves. and women shouldn't have to take responsibility for their actions the same as a man should."
