Star Trek: First Contact THEME - piano

It takes on a very old timey feel when played this way. I like it. It would make good music to set to an old black and white slideshow/old video clips showing humans going from learning to fly to flying in space. If I knew how, I'd make one.

this is one of my favorite songs to play on piano, but I have a different version. My favorite part is at around 1:30, but is very different in the version here. I'll upload my version in a month or two. It has a much simpler base, but I think it allows much greater expression for lesser skilled performers like myself.

great yet again... same comment as on the other version. I know it was an artistic decision, but I still think it lacks the strongest aspect of the piece. (when the orchestra comes in for the first contact theme) you should really be playing hrader, not softer or for the melody.

Don't be so blunt. The video was taken in the edge of a little theatre with so many light that a camera didn't take it. I didn't make that video nor I asked for it, it was taken by one of those who was standing around and started to record as I trained the song. There were a little light for I didn't make a concert. Yes, I included TNG as well. This was played only for a few ST fans. On the concert I played it better (I hope). When I have more time, I will record whole song with TNG included. Next time you will be able to see also my face :-) Thanks for the grade :)

@veldmaat you're right of course. But maybe I should point out that this is not the actual thing, Arlondia was just trying it out. You see, we were in the middle of preparing a convention in Czech Rep. and suddenly she shows up saying she just needs to try something out. Nobody knows what's she talking about and then she starts playing this... and like this. So we were like "oh fuck the lights, just record it and shut up everyone" :-D
