grew up listening to springsteen since I was about 3. Lived about 20 minutes from him and I have ran into him many times. The first time I met him I was in aw I was only about 11. Saw them live with my one ex girlfriend up in hamilton ON. This song hits hard for me recently. Reminds me off my recent fuck ups.
Even though my mom's one friend was an asshole. I have to thank him for getting his brother (springsteens trainer) to get me to met him and a set list.
A wonderful find: this was one of my fave 'obscure' Bruce songs, even in the 70's (after "Born to Run" had pretty much eclipsed everything he had done, prior, in the eyes of the masses).
To watch a LIVE vid of it, so early in this man's legendary career, is a real treat.
IMHO, Bruce's greatest years as a lyricist were those prior to "Darkness on the Edge of Town". There was a magic that somehow didn't transcend to 'the Boss' phase (post Born in the USA release).
So he will be 60 (!!) in two days... Can´t believe it... when he sang this song I was 1 year old!!!!! I am Springsteen Fan since my 16th birthday... he is fantastic. Forever!!!!!!
glammer, thanks so much for that piece of history. I'll bet the Village hadn't seen anything like that performance since Dylan. It's great to see Bruce evolving his art.

My favourite song ever, I can play the song and sing slightly but it would never do it justice. What a legend!
