  • Gemma this vlog made my day! I'm a huge fan of John Green and the Vlogbrothers in general! It started for me with John's books and spilled over into the YouTube videos! Hearing that you like them as well and have for even longer than I have totally made me smile! I'll be seeing John and Hank at a signing later on this month...so excited!

  • Gemma are you an only child? Just asking.

  • when can you upload the 'how to get strated on youtube' video? would love to watch that!

  • LOVE rant videos!

  • i never throw away 'cardboady' bags either haha

    x

  • Rant about Rick Perry's Campaign ad?

  • what happened to alex??

  • my family are hindus (personally I am atheist) but we celebrate christmas... christmas dinner, presents, trees, music, the whole shebang!

  • I absolutely adore your way of thinking, your point of view about everything you talked in this video. there should be more youtubers that mature, intelligent, sensible and social as you! kisses from vienna :)

  • i think it is refreshing to know that you feel commited enough, so don't worry about it because it only takes one person to blow your confidence and they probably don't even mean it! Loving your videos they are just so normal and "every day" like. merry christmas! x

  • i absolutely love that you watched youtube and vlogged before you got into makeup videos etc :) and i agree, christmas is a great time to reflect and spend time with family :)

  • As a Christian, I am ashamed of those who say that just because you are not Christian you can't celebrate Christmas. That is just absolutely ridiculous. Christmas isn't even a Christian holiday technically! Bah. Silly super enthusiasts.

  • I agree with you about Christmas. I'm Jewish and privately--in my own home--we do Chanukah and very Jewish traditions around the holidays; but, I exchange Christmas gifts with my friends, I am going to Christmas dinner at my boyfriend's this year, go and look at Christmas lights. As long as individuals don't force me to celebrate for religious reasons, I'm fine with it!

    xx

  • @xPaula16x couldn't have put it better myself! :) x

  • Totally agree with you about Christmas :) xx

  • I dont think 5months is too soon to move in together!! me and my husband have spent every single night/day together since our first date and that was 6 years ago and we live together and are now married!!! Lifes what you make it!!!

  • I love Christmas too (i'm not religious)! Here in Denmark christmas is so much more than a christian holiday, it was celebrated way before we became christian. The party was to celebrate the shortest day of the year, the return of the sun. Actually here christmas is called "jul" (wheel) and was an old nordic tradition of burning a wheel symbolizing the return of the sun. i believe similar similar traditions were celebrated all over nothern europe so christmas is a party to celebrate the light!

  • I have the same views about Christmas and also religion but jeez do people take things to heart!! I think most people in England have the same views that are Athiest/Agnostic. As for the xmas/christmas name giving, don't take it too literal people!

  • do you celebrate easter gemma? x

  • I love that red and white stripy top! loving these vlogs :) x

  • i was housemates with my boyfriend before we got together and obviously still live with im now... we've only been together for 5 months and it's incredible! good luck to you both xx

  • Definition if christmas is no longer singular, and everyone needs to accept that we all celebrate it in different ways, and just live and let live as you said!

  • I live in Canada, and I'm an atheist as well and so is everyone in my immediate family. And in the extended family there are Hindus, Muslims, Catholics, Christians etc. But we still celebrate Christmas because it is a very secular and commercialized holiday here. Really I think there are different ways to celebrate it, like just with lights, presents, parties, and everything that I personally do, or in a much more religious way. Whichever way we celebrate, I think in our modern age the definiti

  • I love how you are honest with us! :)

  • yes to rant videos! :D

  • i think with the max factor thing she might have meant an advert on your video as i have one now and i have never noticed the bag lol!! xx

  • I met my Husband on May 31st, , moved in together July 1st, and then Married September 23rd.....Yes that is 4 month.......That was 33 yrs ago, three children, 5 grandchildren. We just knew....................

  • I was wondering if you would ever do a video about why you went from being Catholic to Atheist? I understand that it can be too personal a subject for some people but I think you are quite smart & you seem to be curious & read a lot on different subjects & ideas so I would just like to know. Oh & I'm not trying to start anything by asking this, I hope you don't take it that way. I like to educate myself on other religions/beliefs or lack there of & I love some of the books you have recommended.

  • My hubby and I were only together for 6 months before we moved in together and things have gone from good to great we are now happily married with a baby on the way. When you know you know xxx

  • i love your random videos like this :) i moved in with my boyfriend after only being together for two weeks! we did know each other before, but now it's been nearly 4 years and i'm so happy we moved in early on :) when it's right, it's right :) xoxo

  • thanks for the explanation about Max Factor. that's what I thought that it's totally innocent :) keep on doing these awsome vlogs! :) greetings from Poland! xx

  • my family has never been religious and we have always had Christmas decorations in our house with a Christmas tree and Christmas lights, etc.... Most of my friends do the same thing and are not religious as well. I think everyone can celebrate Christmas if they want to. Halloween is traditionally a pagan tradition, just cause we celebrate Halloween doesn't mean we're pagans right? and if we want to celebrate Christmas we don't have to be Christian. Love your videos Gemma :)

  • Do a video on living away from home, or studying abroad video/experience

  • I think anyone who wants to celebrate Christmas should celebrate it : ) and you should definitely do more videos like this! xoxo

  • I really enjoy these types of videos and I'm actually looking forward to your rant videos, you're a very logical and down to earth person. I'm on the same page as you regarding Christmas, although I understand that it's hard to discuss it on youtube. I'm an atheist (although I don't really like that word) but I still celebrate it, it's more of a winter holiday to me. Also, you gave me a very strange mental image of a person sitting on the toilet drinking a cup of tea...

  • Gemma you are so lovely. You're so down to earth and normal. I love that you understand the value of money unlike other yt's who just fritter it about like its going out of fashion! I never get bored of watching your true, honest, real videos. Wish you all the best :). Xx

  • haha nothing like a catholic upbringing to really make you question religion ;) speaking from firsthand experience

  • haha i wasnt being nasty at all, just thought it was slightly weird lol

  • I always bring a drink with me when I'm having a bath - I'd dehydrate otherwise lol. + I agree with you on your views about Christmas! Many people who are not Christian celebrate etc xxx

  • I completely agree with your views on Christmas! :)

  • Totally agree with your Christmas views Gemma, enjoy the Holiday Season!

I hope you will vlog a bit on your holiday, even if you have to post the videos after the fact, it's no problem!

  • your always so honest, love your videos!!x

  • my parents met, and married 6 months later, and have now been together for 19 years! :) so ignore what anyone else says!

    xoxo

  • I am a Christian, and Christmas is a Christian holiday for me, but I absolutely agree with you about the whole secular holiday thing. My boyfriend is Jewish and he celebrates Christmas, and it's a time for everyone to spend time with the people you love and really appreciate them, regardless of religion or anything else.

  • No, it's not weird at all to have a relaxing drink in a bubble bath! So many people do that... including me occasionally.

  • Love your vlogs, think you´re great. You have SO MUCH patience. Some people are just plain stupid. This is all :)

  • bring on the rants!

  • Gemma, been loving the vlogs! You & Matt make the cutest couple. Butttttt lol i miss seeing Alex in your videos...is that weird? I'm so curious haha. What's happened to him since the breakup, have you two talked or ran into each other? Has he moved on with someone else too? Hope you get a chance to answer and i hope you don't mind the random questions. <3

  • @mOnsterrhOspitall5 It is a little weird, I feel like its been over six months and people still keep bringing Alex up in the comments which is really hard for me just wanting to move on, and not that nice for Matt, nobody likes to keep hearing about someones ex. Alex said he wanted to be friends but blocked me and all my family online everywhere so I can't contact him, I hope he is doing well but unfortunately I have no idea, which is sad. We live 5 hours apart so I haven't seen him at all. x

  • My family are all atheists as well pretty much, possibly more towards the agnostic/open minded side of things. we celebrate christmas because for us it's about our family coming together and enjoying time together, as well as treating each other to a nice gift that we wouldn't normally do at another time of the year! xxx

  • @HelloKittyx94 Funny how you call it CHRISTmas then...

  • @itsageoffrushthing Christmas is what its called by society, because people use the time to celebrate Christ. If you don't believe in Christ, its still the time of year when people celebrate Christ, its grammatically accurate to call it that. I don't believe in spooks but "hallows" eve or Halloween is still called Halloween, that is its cultural name.

  • @gemsmaquillage Most people of that mind call it 'xmas' though.

  • @itsageoffrushthing Only for the sake of shortening things, Christina Aguilera calls herself Xtina, for example. Therefore Xmas = Christmas?

  • @gemsmaquillage Of course SOME people use it for the shorthand purpose... however, the majority of atheists, at least here in Australia, use 'xmas' to show that they are shunning it or whatever. When you shorten it, you are actually taking away the meaning of the word. But whatevs.

  • @itsageoffrushthing Thats not really done here as far as I'm aware anyway. I just call it whatever and have fun :)

  • @gemsmaquillage People do it, trust me. I've been to England, you're no different to us mate. Anyway, whatever you wanna call it, I don't really mind, it's just that people do use the word too flippantly sometimes and put the X in there and trust me, it does annoy some Christians due to the fact that... yes... however you wanna argue it, an X is an X... they could always call it 'Chrissy' for shortening purposes (yes I know some call it that too) but they choose to use the X.

  • @itsageoffrushthing in that case...i didn't shorten it to Xmas, I said Christmas? I respect anyone's religious views and would never shun their beliefs. All I was doing was agreeing with Gemma that for my family, who are not Christians, celebrate Christmas because we live in what's referred to as a 'Christian' country in which the religious holiday has also become a cultural holiday where we celebrate the importance of family, etc. No hard feelings please I didn't mean any harm!

  • @HelloKittyx94 Don't mind this geoffrush character, they're here to just start up arguments. Just enjoy the holiday, whatever name you call it lol

  • @victoriaindigo Thank you :) you too!

  • please do a video on homesickness, and how you deal with it if you have any experience of it. like an ask gemma video, just with any tips you might have?

  • A whole-heartedly agree with what you said about moving in with Matt. I've been with my boyfriend for over a year now, but as we met at the start of university and he lived a while away from my halls, he spent A LOT of time at mine to the point where we were practically living together. And this year, he is literally a minute's walk around the corner so we spend every day and every night together. When it's right, you just know it and time doesn't come into it :) Good luck finding a house!

  • Haha, i love your rant videos i can't wait for those!! =D x

  • LOVE A RANT VIDEO PLEASE!!!

  • I didn't write about the max factor bag, but I have noticed it in the background... I didn't think anything of it to be honest though! haha.x

  • Completely agree with your comments on Christmas. I'm an atheist living in Canada and my family and I have a British/French background. We view Christmas as a cultural celebration, not a religious observance. My best friend is Muslim and we exchange Christmas gifts... no big deal.

  • Hurricane Bawbag! Looking lovely as usual Gemma =) xx

  • Detailed video Gemma. Merry Christmas.

  • I live in Scotland and the storms were atrocious. All sports centres and pantos were shut and so were most schools:) XD

  • Loved the vlog! I moved in with my boyf in september and it was the best thing we ever did! I think you just know when it's right anyway, so it doesn't matter how long you've been together!

Also! I always take drinks in the bath with me :) It's nice if you're relaxing!
