Look closely !...if you click on "red dwarf titles series eight" you will see they made at least 2 different opening versions !

They never improved on the first one, IMHO. It feels like a grimier version of 2001: A Space Odyssey, really moody and atmospheric. I also badly miss that lovely old model, infinitely preferable to the CGI monstrosity of later seasons. Why did they have to blow it up? :( As for going back and "remastering" the earlier series, replacing all the old model shots and titles in the process... worse than Hitler. Hitler SQUARED.

@username666ization Yeah I agree, to me all the greatest comedies are tragedies and I actually felt sad with the first opening cos it summed up how Lister was alone and doomed pretty much and yes homage to 2001 was the aim by Howard Goodal there, basicaly if you wanted a memorbale TV show score u went to Howard and he excelled himself giving Dwarf its instantly recognisable theme.

I stil enjoyed the of the planet riffing on the second version though.

But he frist 2 series make me nostalgic

In the third season the ship is another... with more light, etc...

I think series V's titles are my favourite. Starbug taking off among the explosions in Demons & Angels. The models still look better than CGI, imho.
