A very fine treatment, Tom. Thank you for posting this. The more I listen to Ron Paul, the more I am convinced that he is the man of the hour. The slimy lies being thrown at him are shocking, but I will not be deterred. I am voting for Ron Paul! I encourage others to do the same.
I can admire you resolute determination to make one last push for the Ron Paul presidency in 2012, but when will enough be enough? On inauguration night, will you be able to relax, replace your stress with calm and actually pity those citizens with such deep scars from their childhood that they cannot help building their own cages? Until a generation is raised without aggression and arbitrary authority, we will never be free. My favorite video: McCuistion with you and Doug Casey.
An incredible amount of the retorts that have to do with economics can be explained in detail in the book 'economics in one lesson'.
I was sitting here nodding left and right. But then I learned austrian economics and haven't really looked into keynesian economics. I'm afraid of studying keynesian economics now :( it might blow my brain up
Is it too much of a stretch to think that the Great Society and other welfare programs that were put in place were meant to keep some people in poverty? Did the 'big wigs' see what you described: Poverty went from 95% to 12-14% and realized that if it kept dropping, no one would have to rely on government or them? We have poverty because of the welfare state, not the other way around?
@Raynor1052000 I often think about this myself. Businesses will always find a way to deliver goods and services to the masses whether we are poor or wealthy. Whether it's twigs, berries and vegetables to Ferraris, camcorders and cell-phones. Government, however, relies on need.
You do know, of course, that the Mediastapo (such as Salon writers) are heavily in bed with the Corporate Welfare class. The reason people like the author don't want to get rid of the Dept. of Commerce is because it's their trust-fund daddies who benefit from it; and because they want the POWER over people. They don't give a damn about individual freedom - they believe people should be free to do what their 'Expert' overlords tell them.
Government regulators definitely try to "bottle the wind" when they think they can fix the economy and prevent corruption with a wave of their magic wand.
Tom Woods is right, that the big players simply learn to play the system and use the regulations against the competition to gain an unfair advantage; meanwhile the regulators just sit on their butts and harass the innocent.
This is something that the demagogue-worshippers just can't understand.
If you haven't contributed to Ron Paul today, please do so now! He needs your help to support his ad campaign in Iowa and NH. Go to ronpaul2012 (dotcom) and support the cause of FREEDOM! Remember Ron Paul predicted the financial collapse in 2001! Everyone else supported the bailouts!
As always, Tom Woods is a joy to follow - his strong logic and ability to phrase complex issues with clarity is impressive. I am wiser after each video. Thank you and keep 'em coming!
ThisMachineKillsReds, you wrote: "Democratic-leftism is a religion in itself. They don't like Ron Paul because they're anti-capitalists; everything else is secondary to this. In their heart of hearts they'll take Stalin over Rockefeller."
I don't get it, are you holding up the "Competition is a sin" Rockefellers as the quintessential capitalists?
I would cut not one trillion, but THREE trillion dollars. I would also put a sunset law on entitlements. The government currently holds at least 100 TRILLION worth of unfunded liabilities. Entitlements are CRIMINAL PONZI SCHEMES. If they are not abolished America will be reduced to smoldering ruins.
I am a great admirer of your work and a big fan! I am very confused, however, as to the point of videos like this one. Talking to progressives about anything or trying to persuade them to support Ron Paul is simply silly. You talk about data in your video (data proving that more government is bad and less government is good). Well I think as a good empiricist you should look at the data of what percentage of progresseives are persuaded by argument like that. I would guess 0.0%.
@matti1003 The point of the video is not to win over progressives, though such a thing does happen once in a while. (Normally not from just one video.) It's to help Ron Paul supporters answer these standard arguments, and reassure them that Dr. Paul's positions are perfectly defensible. It also shows people on the fence that the Weiss side of things is not the whole story.
@TomWoodsTV I agree. These videos are incredibly informative and are helping Dr. Paul's supporters answer questions knowledgeably. Not only that, but they are incredibly reassuring after I sit through an hour in my economics class listening to my professor mix fact based statements with his opinion on politics--which always results in why we need more regulation. It infuriates me to watch my fellow classmates write down what he says as fact when I know there are other reputable views.
@TomWoodsTV "The warfare state" he says. lol And what would you have done to combat terrorism? What do you think we should do about the terrorist state Iran seeking nuclear weapons? Again, I would like to educate you.
@KingDingaLing090 please do! Because I worry all the time about boogey men terrorists wanting to kill me because I live in a free society on the other side of the world! Take a good look at US affairs in the middle east dating all the back to the 1950s do some educating for yourself less you continue to look like a jack ass. bravo! Terrorism is a tactic, Not a group of people. Anyone is capable of being a terrorist at anytime. We live in a world of uncertainty bad things happen
@KingDingaLing090 and guess what if Iran were to ever use a nuclear weapon they would be blown off the map by Israel, Russia, Armed US subs. Iran launching a nuclear attack on anyone would be suicide. Have a mind for yourself. If even you're capable. But no the world is full of suicide bombers that lust for virgins in the after life haha. You fool you've probably never even been on that side of the world how could you possibly know what is actually going on?
@AbsoluteStupidity History. Iran is a terrorist state. The swear to martyr themselves so they can bring the mahdi in 2012. You spineless idiots would give a suicide bomber that swears to exterminate the Jews a nuclear weapon. Even if they don't use it they will use the terror to intimidate the world & transform the geopolitical landscape in order to spread terrorism all over the world. They are setting up bases all over South America. Go back to disneyland or whatever fairytale you live in.
@KingDingaLing090 Where's your proof of any of these accusations. Iran hasn't invaded anyone in over 100 years. Iran has had nuclear technology since the 1950's, thanks to the US, and they still don't have a nukes. There's no evidence that they have a nuclear weapons program and if they wanted they would have bought one a long time ago. The US has been accusing them of trying to get nuclear weapons since the earlier part of the last decade and they still don't have any nukes.
@jaabreu04 Lol you stupid bastard why are you allowed to talk when you are so ignorant? First of all, Iran hasnt existed for 100 years, second of all they invaded Lebanon with their terrorist proxy Hezbollah and the list goes on, but telling you this is like casting pearls before swine. You are a lost cause. What is wrong with you? Oh right. A Rontard freak. Go back to pre-school Junior. Stay away from the crack. Mkay? Alright. Bye.
@KingDingaLing090 Iran is formerly Persia. If you go back that far they still haven't invaded or attacked anyone in over 100 years. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about spouting all that misinformation. Do you even realize where Hezbollah came from. Israel funded them to go against the PLO in Lebanon and it backfired on them. How could they be invading Lebanon with Hezbollah when Hezbollah is a political party in Lebanon that has 14 seats in their parliament.
@jaabreu04 Wow you are persistently ignorant. I just gave you the name of a country they invaded you ridiculous bastard.
LEBANON.
Go look it up you stupid fuck. Hezbollah is Iran's proxy terrorist regime. That is a fact. You're ridiculous Paultard theories mean precicely squat. Hezbollah is Iran. It's leaders were inspired by Ayatollah Khomeini and they were trained and organized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. They get weapons military training and and funds from IRAN right NOW.
@KingDingaLing090 The only thing you've said that is correct is that Iran supports Hezbollah. Why don't you actually research the conflict between Israel and Lebanon. That is when Hezbollah first came about, when Israel invaded and occupied Lebanon in 1982. Israel was then forced out of Lebanon by Hezbollah after the war in 2006. The only invader in Lebanon was Israel. You still haven't explained why we should attack a country that has no nukes and is of no threat to us.
Hezbollah occupies Lebanon now, they usurped to invasion of the South Lebanese Army, and the reason Israel invaded Lebanon is because of Syria's attacks on Israel via the proxy miltant group occupying Lebanon. .That proxy militant group is now known as Hezbollah (aka Iran).
On top of that Iran was responsible for 9/11, -- according to a decision made by a Clinton appointed federal Judge. <-- Go defend them you backstabbing traitor.
@KingDingaLing090 Whatever source you're using is wrong. Hezbollah originated from a shiite movement in Lebanon. So you're telling an organization that is indigenous to Lebanon invaded and occupied their own country? Israel invaded Lebanon to go after PLO after an assassination attempt. Then they occupied Lebanon. Did you bother to look at what that trial actually said. First off a decision was made with no Iranian representation. Convicting Iran without allowing Iran to the
@KingDingaLing090 opportunity to fight the accusations already makes this a pretty weak conviction. The conviction only amounted to saying that Iran allowed passage for the hijackers through its country, not that it had any direct involvement or knowledge of the attack. By that logic every country, including the US, that the hijackers traveled through is responsible. Not to mention Iran, a Shiite government, doesn't like Al qaeda, a radical sunni organization, and helped go
@KingDingaLing090 after Al qaeda after 911. I'm surprised you thought that conviction held any real weight. So far you've made a weak case for Iran indirectly invading someone, but even hypothetically saying Iran have invaded another country, so have many of other countries, especially the US. Does that mean the US should invade all those other countries. North Korea already has nukes and they kept saying how their leadership was and that they would use them. But we haven't
@KingDingaLing090 invaded them and North Korea hasn't attacked anyone with nukes. Iran also has constant surveillance by the IAEA in their nuclear facilities. The IAEA report had no evidence of a weapons program and even Defense Secretary Panetta admitted they had no weapons program. I bet you if Iran had nukes, just like North Korea, this situation would be solved with diplomacy. So are really bloodthisty enough to want to send more soldiers to die and kill people that have
@jaabreu04 Just leave 20 comments in a row fuck it. I will read them (not).
You are telling Ron Paul lies. The IAEA report said they are working towards a nuke and they have a missle delivery system. They openly say they are making one. Liar, liar, backstabbing pussy. You lie. There were no lies about Iraq, there was flaw in the intelligence. Liar.
@KingDingaLing090 no nuclear weapons program and no long range military capability to attack the US directly. You want to condemn the people Iran to suffer and die in war because you don't like their leadership based on nonexistent threats. Did you approve of what happened in Iraq. We overthrew a former ally, Saddam, killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's, destroyed their countries infrastructure via bombing campaigns, and found no WMD's. Now we left Iraq divided and heading
@KingDingaLing090 towards a civil war. After all the lies about Iraq, what makes you think our government has any credibility left when it comes to justifications to attack another country. I could keep going but me let know how you justify killing more people and sending more soldiers to die based on a threat that evidence shows doesn't exist.
Since when is Iran responsible for 9/11? We were told it was Bin Ladin in Afganistan.. then Iraq... now you're suggesting that it is Iran's fault?
In the name of your excessive finger pointing.. I'm going to respectfully suggest that 9/11 was Russia's fault... no, no... it was Canada's fault... no wait.. it was your fault, Mr. DingaLing
@CBeeman1988 Nobody ever said Iraq was responsible for 9/11, get your lies straight. We invaded Iraq because of flawed CIA intelligence and Saddam funding terrorists.
Iran is responsible for 9/11 since the decision of a federal judge whom sat on a several year hearing for 'the families of the victims of 9/11 vs. Al Qaeda, Hizbolla and Iran.'
I suggest you take a good look in the mirror you ignorant fuck. You are a backstabbing terrorist sympathizer. Go read the case nimrod.
@KingDingaLing090 Why don't you provide a factual and intellectual argument on why we should attack a country that has no nukes, is of no threat to us, and that there is no proof they are trying to get a nuke and use it. I doubt you can objectively make any sound argument since you are so blinded by your bigoted hatred towards a country that you've shown you know nothing about. It's even clearer when you resort to name calling that you have no real foundation to your argument.
@KingDingaLing090 What good would a nuke do them anyway besides deter other countries from invading. They don't have the capability to launch nukes towards the US. Israel has one of the best anti missile defense systems and is full of holy sites that no muslim would ever want to destroy. Explain to me when Iran has ever performed a act of terrorism or attacked another country unprovoked. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the west are the aggressors here.
@matti1003 who would the progressives support then? this whole who should the progressives support confuses me, yes theres the issue with abortion but dr paul has his own views, hes been honest about that even though he doesn't intend on making states or the country adopt that view, he sees its as a state issue. the second issue of welfarism, hes spot on but yet again against his own view he believes those dependent on gov handouts should be supported & allow those under 25 who want out to do so
@matti1003 also, hes against war and aggressive foreign policy, the war on drugs and the unfair treatment and over representation of black males in the prison system!
what does any other candidate offer? really offer!
@matti1003 I see two benefits of this video: (a) enlighten people who are on the fence; and (b) give Ron Paul supporters ammunition to deal with some of the points brought up by progressives.
@matti1003 I have actually been able to persuade 2 card-carrying progressives. The logic presented by scholars such as Tom Woods, to which I subscribe, is irrefutable. Don't give up. This is going to be a long fight. We have to win converts. What other strategy is there?
@Lacocacolaman i have done those calculations before but you need some work arounds as it is not a precalculated reported figure. you need to add up all of the welfare spending, that is reported, then you need to add up all of the disbursement figures and those are the ones that are a huge headache to find. you then divide the disbursements by the spending to find out the efficiency rate, and my numbers were not far off from 30%
@Lacocacolaman The 70% figure comes from New York's welfare system but is probably not far removed from any government system. On the second statement, I discuss this in Rollback, my book from earlier this year.
Tom Woods is just great. I'm not really sure how else to put it.
It's not just the research he's done and his understanding of the issues. It's the way he puts things, using great examples, humor, and biting sarcasm, and his unflinching attitude, where most people with the same views are somehow bashful and apologetic for their views.
Other than that Ron Paul is pretty much right on and this video is pretty much right on. MY ONLY PROBLEM WITH RON PAUL IS HIS STAND ON ISLAM NOT BEING A PROBLEM AND HIS STAND THAT IRAN GETTING A NUKE WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. These two issues are enough for me not to support Ron Paul. Oh yes there is a third thing that the Military should be defunded NO IT SHOULD NOT. AS WE HAVE SOME SERIOUS ENEMIES THAT WOULD DESTROY US GIVEN HALF A CHANCE.
@1jacquesf Ron Paul sounds brave , and you sound irrationally fearful . Maybe if you turn off the MSM/TV it would help you. Islam is not a threat , religious FUNDAMENTALISM is , get it right . FUNDAMENTALISTS react out of fear , you sound like one yourself . How many times can the planet be made uninhabitable with all the nukes the USA or China or Russia etc has ? And Iran gets ONE nuke ? pffft . .If the USA didn't start unlawful wars in other countries there wouldn't be so many enemies .
I am a HUGE Tom Woods fan. However there are problems with Ron Paul that he does not see. That have nothing to do with the article by Gary Weiss, or Ron Paul's populace stand. Tom is correct in this video, but he is not correct about Ron Paul's stand on Islam not being a problem when it is. Iran getting a bomb, when it would be a serious problem. These are the 2 issues I have with Ron Paul.
@1jacquesf I'm PRETTY SURE it's not that Tom Woods "does not see" it, but that he'd just disagree with you the same way I do. Even if Iran is actively seeking nukes, do you blame them? We have Bachmann and DICK Santorum straight saying to the world that we treat nuclear powers differently and show them a different type of respect (while bullying others). Iran has never attacked anyone and if anyone would be selfish enough to destroy the world, I put my money on Israel's government.
Why don't we volunteer more? Personally, I don't volunteer AT ALL because I've been sucked dry of any spare time, energy or money that I might have had by the 'government' and its spineless, thieving minions.
Imagine if 'income' tax alone was abolished and all these socialists - who care oh-so-much about the poor - had a lot more cash, and imagine a homeless person asked them for help.
That's when you'd really be hearing CRICKETS. Oh, and tumbleweeds, too. Gotta have the tumbleweeds.
Glass houses, @itachi705. You are entitled to your own opinions, but facts are persnickety little devils. What say we fill you up with some knowledge? Youtube doesn't allow posting links, so instead I've posted google search terms. This should be a good start for you.
@100percenteri We've spent the last few decades deregulating the financial sector, lowering corporate tax rates, privatizing the public sector and cutting social services. What good has come of it? Endless war, massive financial fraud, ecological destruction, high unemployment, labor abuse, eroded civil liberties and massive economic disparity. Why do you think corporatists like the Kochs and the Scaifes spend so much money funding 'libertarian' think tanks like Reason and Cato? Google it.
"We've spent the last few decades deregulating the financial sector, lowering corporate tax rates, privatizing the public sector and cutting social services."
@itachi705 - What is there to dispute? None of these points are even vaguely controversial. Feel free to look them up for yourself. I've posted some starting points above if you are genuinely curious. Of course calling people stupid is a heck of a lot easier than research and analysis.
@Akatam0t0ma Your response is little more then a collection slogans and buzzwords that do little to articulate your beliefs let alone persuade me to your way of thinking. This kind of failure to articulate is part of the reason market libertarianism has not extended out beyond the fringes to a wider audience. Of course, I also understand that libertarian beliefs are largely theoretical and generally do not bear out in reality - so maybe insults are indeed the path of least resistance. Cheers
Ron Paul has become such a sacred cow among market conservatives these days that even the mildest of criticisms are seen as a giant conspiracy, which is too bad, because criticism is a really, really, really important form of ideological peer review.
Democratic-leftism is a religion in itself. They don't like Ron Paul because they're anti-capitalists; everything else is secondary to this. In their heart of hearts they'll take Stalin over Rockefeller.
Statism = WALL-E in its innocent, egalitarian, friendly, hippie form, albeit not in a environmentally friendly way -- which has never existed. How much socialism is good enough for the left? How many people need to be on welfare before they draw the line? 90% of the population? Should we all be on welfare? Should we all be poor? How much worse does our education system need to get? How much more incompetent does the government need to become for government-cheerleading leftists to just give up?
Tom, do you remember a while back when the Chamber of Commerce (evil big business oligarchy) gave Ron Paul its WORST rating of congressional REPUBLICANS? The Corporate Elite Special Interest of Record can't stand Ron Paul, but our "overlords"--as you might say--inform us Paul is nonetheless a shill for big business. Of all attacks on Ron Paul, this has to win the prize for the most laughably-bizarre MSM criticism.
"doesn't deign to give us an argument" which is why no one would have taken that article seriously to begin with, but thanks for picking it apart anyway, sir.
" no one would have taken that article seriously to begin with"
I wish that were actually the case, but unfortunately, these standard cookie-cutter non-arguments for statism, the troubadours of which cannot be even bothered to address the rebuttals and incorporate them to their case, resonate with a very significant portion of the populace.
Ron Paul is a dream candidate for the corporate state. He is a true believer who need not be bought. He benefits them by bringing an air of populist morality to the more cutthroat aspects of modern capitalism. He champions trickle down theory, tax cuts for the 1% and deregulation of the financial sector despite all the troubling failures these concepts have brought about over the last few decades. Check out his platform, it's a deregulatory and tax money give away to the corporate state.
@DystopianFuture2day Wait. ...Did you just post that on this video, where Woods just dealt with those very points? You didn't even propose a counterargument. Sorry if you're being sarcastic and I'm missing it.
Bullshit progressive propaganda. Its the regulation ie. government control of money, banking and resources in general which has brought you recurring crises, war and impoverishment.
Yes, he wants to deregulate and he wants the government to tax less, is that a give-away to the corporate-state ?
How you spoiled progressives lazies stop stealing peoples wealth and income to give to "intelligent planner" ie. crooks, and get a fucking job.
Oh look, another uncritical statetard drone who thinks rehashing the same old and completely standard discredited cookie-cutter non-arguments for statism, pretending as if they were never addressed, makes him oh-so cool and radical. Yipeee!
Great video Tom Woods pointed to clear points to refute Salon hack article writer. Unfortunately bogus 'progressive' talking points always make it to reverberate in lamestream media as corporate shills seem to gather to cluck like hens in a hen house.
I hope that you can visit the Philippines and teach us libertarianism and free trade and economic liberalization. We need to kick a lot of asses here because our government and our politicians are making us ignorant about economic liberalization and limited government..
@archgin742000 The best thing that could happen right now is if Ron Paul were to be elected. Paul's foreign policy is to be the standard of freedom and other countries will follow and try to emulate us much more so than now.
I was watching the 60minutes show about "more-homeless-kids-now-living-in-cars." and in the middle of that show they says around $4-5 million in donation coming in to help these families...
And then I thought about the $1 Billion embassy that the US govt built in Iraq. And the Super Committee can't even find $1.2 Trillion to cut over 10 years. Talk about wasting money overseas and here we have families living in their car.
being anti bailout, anti welfare state, anti american empire and anti drug-laws is unpopular? what world do you live in...those are some of the most popular positions in existence. even if u took the number of people who had them all together, it would amount to a large percentage.
It is serious when Salon's message, a distorted one at that, reaches potentially hundreds of millions of people. It's called propaganda and that is serious.
What I was trying to say, is take their "news", opinions, and so forth with a grain of salt. They're just trolling and they're angry that Obama is a puppet for Wall St., instead of attacking him, they're attacking Ron Paul, this is normal. Attack the people that have been right this whole entire time is common amongst statist. They are just a rant blog like the Daily Kos, they are not credible at all. I doubt more than a million people visit their website in an entire year.
I hate when words like "Refute" and "Oligarchy" slip out to these wannabe journalists. Save your breath buddy, we couldn't care less about your references, buy a Dictionary and a Thesaurus and start over.
did know who this guy was until an hour ago... I read that Salon article and as a progressive who supports RP it was kinda pulling me in different directions, though I felt the article was surface scrapping BS
I live in Southern California where most of my teachers and friends believe strongly in the need to uphold collective and individual rights. Yet, they do not see the impossibility of that action, as one cancels out the other. Some have even gone as far as to question the basic premise of self-ownership, which they consider implausible and necessary to abandon for allowing society to function as they see fit. But in a society where no one truly owns his or her self, the State fills the gap...
Oh no! I don't like that one bit. People might actually start listening to future presidents' state of the boring addresses, because Tom would make them fun and informative. Can't have that.
Many thanks, Tom, for this post. The most often-used equivocation used by the Progressive left is the notion that "government" and "society" are the same thing, in order to justify the aggressive postures and actions of government as if the whole society was a willing participant of them. This is a damned lie but one that refuses to die a quiet death.
GREEDY and EVIL corporations who care only about profit are using up all our sunlight! Do not let the light of the sun become a commodified good, to be openly bought and sold by the market! I propose the creation of a Dept. of Sun Rise, that ensures the sun rises every morning. Its opening budget will be 300 bil and it will be funded by a tax on each individual's graduated sunlight usage.
"GREEDY and EVIL corporations who care only about profit[...]"
You mean that YOU don't care about profit? Don't you compare prices when shopping? Don't you save? Don't you find the better deal? Do you at least have a clue of what "profit" means, at all? Profit is what motivates a person to trade a good of lesser value for one of greater value for him or her. It is what makes you exchange your labor for money, as you value the money MORE. THAT'S PROFIT, you ninny.
@jsyc07 I told Tom that if he became Ron's press secretary, his conferences would be the only television occurrence which I would tune into religiously. The number of people he would piss off with his sarcasm is comedic in itself. So many people would be educated, and these shows would last for hours.
And don't forget, kids: that 10 cents an hour would actually be worth something had the Federal Reserve bankers and the government bureaucrats hadn't gotten involved and destroyed our money.
@Redeye1524 The only writer at Salon.com worth reading is civil libertarian Glenn Greenwald. A lot of lefties don't like to hear the truth Greenwald speaks because party lines are of no consequence to him and they're especially disturbed when he gives Ron Paul a fair shake - which he does quite often.
God damn you're cool, Tom. That whole video i was blown away by how good you are in front of a camera. I'm useless... You were born for this stuff! Born for what you're doing with Revolution PAC too ;D
@HConstantine: Obviously you don't understand the concept of deregulation and how it will fix the banks which already run wild. I won't explain it to you on youtube comments, but read some Milton Friedman please.
Gold is money, oil is money, a tradeable skill is money, printed sheets of paper however, that have no real worth, actually ARE NOT MONEY. But Milton Friedman didn't think we could go back to Gold Standard, so there is that on your side.
Big government loving asshole like you are the dangerous lunatics. You only have to look at the civil rights violations, the war mongering and the economic catastrophe to see what a bunch of dangerous lunatics big government slaves like you really are.
You mean, like having more private roads, school vouchers and giving people the option to opt-out of Social Security, just like Ron Paul wants?
Whoops, another clueless statetard who thinks his cookie-cutter non-arguments are so original and make him so smart exposed like the know-nothing dunderhead that he is.
@HConstantine 1. Obama orders the killing of an American citizen without trial, and you're worried about the retarded fish-frog theory.
2. Paul has never called Rand a genius, and has pointed out several disagreements he has with her.
3. Wrong on all accounts, he wants localized control. Corporations are already poisoning our environment and buying off the EPA, didn't you get the memo?
4. Gold is money, it has been for thousands of years.
I am never going on Yahoo.com again, left wing media that ignores Ron Paul.

Today is the anniversary of the 1773 Boston Tea Party.
It's also the anniversary of the day back in 2007 when my supporters shocked the political world by raising over $6 million in one single day!
Some experts say that incredible money bomb set off the modern Tea Party movement.

Dear Dr. Woods,
I am a great admirer of your work and a big fan! I would guess 0.0%.
matti1003 3 months ago
@matti1003 The point of the video is not to win over progressives, though such a thing does happen once in a while. (Normally not from just one video.) It's to help Ron Paul supporters answer these standard arguments, and reassure them that Dr. Paul's positions are perfectly defensible. It also shows people on the fence that the Weiss side of things is not the whole story.
TomWoodsTV 3 months ago 27
@TomWoodsTV I agree. These videos are incredibly informative and are helping Dr. Paul's supporters answer questions knowledgeably. Not only that, but they are incredibly reassuring after I sit through an hour in my economics class listening to my professor mix fact based statements with his opinion on politics--which always results in why we need more regulation. It infuriates me to watch my fellow classmates write down what he says as fact when I know there are other reputable views.

AbsoluteClarity880 4 weeks ago
@AbsoluteStupidity History. Iran is a terrorist state. The swear to martyr themselves so they can bring the mahdi in 2012. You spineless idiots would give a suicide bomber that swears to exterminate the Jews a nuclear weapon. Even if they don't use it they will use the terror to intimidate the world & transform the geopolitical landscape in order to spread terrorism all over the world. They are setting up bases all over South America. Go back to disneyland or whatever fairytale you live in.
KingDingaLing090 4 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 Where's your proof of any of these accusations. Iran hasn't invaded anyone in over 100 years. Iran has had nuclear technology since the 1950's, thanks to the US, and they still don't have a nukes. There's no evidence that they have a nuclear weapons program and if they wanted they would have bought one a long time ago. The US has been accusing them of trying to get nuclear weapons since the earlier part of the last decade and they still don't have any nukes.
jaabreu04 3 weeks ago
@jaabreu04 Lol you stupid bastard why are you allowed to talk when you are so ignorant? First of all, Iran hasnt existed for 100 years, second of all they invaded Lebanon with their terrorist proxy Hezbollah and the list goes on, but telling you this is like casting pearls before swine. You are a lost cause. What is wrong with you? Oh right. A Rontard freak. Go back to pre-school Junior. Stay away from the crack. Mkay? Alright. Bye.
KingDingaLing090 3 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 Iran is formerly Persia. If you go back that far they still haven't invaded or attacked anyone in over 100 years. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about spouting all that misinformation. Do you even realize where Hezbollah came from. Israel funded them to go against the PLO in Lebanon and it backfired on them. How could they be invading Lebanon with Hezbollah when Hezbollah is a political party in Lebanon that has 14 seats in their parliament.
jaabreu04 3 weeks ago
@jaabreu04 Wow you are persistently ignorant. I just gave you the name of a country they invaded you ridiculous bastard.
LEBANON.
Go look it up you stupid fuck. Hezbollah is Iran's proxy terrorist regime. That is a fact. You're ridiculous Paultard theories mean precicely squat. Hezbollah is Iran. It's leaders were inspired by Ayatollah Khomeini and they were trained and organized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. They get weapons military training and and funds from IRAN right NOW.
KingDingaLing090 3 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 The only thing you've said that is correct is that Iran supports Hezbollah. Why don't you actually research the conflict between Israel and Lebanon. That is when Hezbollah first came about, when Israel invaded and occupied Lebanon in 1982. Israel was then forced out of Lebanon by Hezbollah after the war in 2006. The only invader in Lebanon was Israel. You still haven't explained why we should attack a country that has no nukes and is of no threat to us.
jaabreu04 3 weeks ago
@jaabreu04 Everything I said is 100% correct.
KingDingaLing090 3 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 Whatever source you're using is wrong. Hezbollah originated from a shiite movement in Lebanon. So you're telling an organization that is indigenous to Lebanon invaded and occupied their own country? Israel invaded Lebanon to go after PLO after an assassination attempt. Then they occupied Lebanon. Did you bother to look at what that trial actually said. First off a decision was made with no Iranian representation. Convicting Iran without allowing Iran to the
jaabreu04 3 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 opportunity to fight the accusations already makes this a pretty weak conviction. The conviction only amounted to saying that Iran allowed passage for the hijackers through its country, not that it had any direct involvement or knowledge of the attack. By that logic every country, including the US, that the hijackers traveled through is responsible. Not to mention Iran, a Shiite government, doesn't like Al qaeda, a radical sunni organization, and helped go
jaabreu04 3 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 after Al qaeda after 911. I'm surprised you thought that conviction held any real weight. So far you've made a weak case for Iran indirectly invading someone, but even hypothetically saying Iran have invaded another country, so have many of other countries, especially the US. Does that mean the US should invade all those other countries. North Korea already has nukes and they kept saying how their leadership was and that they would use them. But we haven't

@KingDingaLing090 no nuclear weapons program and no long range military capability to attack the US directly.
KingDingaLing090 3 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 Why don't you provide a factual and intellectual argument on why we should attack a country that has no nukes, is of no threat to us, and that there is no proof they are trying to get a nuke and use it. I doubt you can objectively make any sound argument since you are so blinded by your bigoted hatred towards a country that you've shown you know nothing about. It's even clearer when you resort to name calling that you have no real foundation to your argument.
jaabreu04 3 weeks ago
@KingDingaLing090 What good would a nuke do them anyway besides deter other countries from invading. They don't have the capability to launch nukes towards the US. Israel has one of the best anti missile defense systems and is full of holy sites that no muslim would ever want to destroy. Explain to me when Iran has ever performed a act of terrorism or attacked another country unprovoked. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the west are the aggressors here.

@1jacquesf I'm PRETTY SURE it's not that Tom Woods "does not see" it, but that he'd just disagree with you the same way I do. Even if Iran is actively seeking nukes, do you blame them? DystopianFuture2day 3 months ago
Cheers

How much more incompetent does the government need to become for government-cheerleading leftists to just give up?

He benefits them by bringing an air of populist morality to the more cutthroat aspects of modern capitalism. He champions trickle down theory, tax cuts for the 1% and deregulation of the financial sector despite all the troubling failures these concepts have brought about over the last few decades. It's not yet made it into the video description, but the resource page can be found by adding /salon to the end of Wood's web URL.

I love the format of blazing-fast video and separate in-depth resource web page. Thanks, Tom!

did know who this guy was until an hour ago...

Tom Woods should have his own show. This video is epic!

President Woods.
I like the SOUND of THAT...

@FatLibertarianInOkc
Oh no! I don't like that one bit. People might actually start listening to future presidents' state of the boring addresses, because Tom would make them fun and informative. Can't have that.

Wow, Salon is sad.

@Veerwhil,
"GREEDY and EVIL corporations who care only about profit[...]"
THAT'S PROFIT, you ninny.

so 0.003% = just Ron Paul?
rodrigodet 3 months ago
If Ron Paul actually got the presidency I think Tom would be a great press secretary. Who better then Tom to explain a policy decision?
jsyc07 3 months ago 62
@jsyc07 I told Tom that if he became Ron's press secretary, his conferences would be the only television occurrence which I would tune into religiously. The number of people he would piss off with his sarcasm is comedic in itself. So many people would be educated, and these shows would last for hours.
neonsilkworm 3 months ago
@jsyc07 Don't insult Tom Woods by nominating for White House press secretary :-p

What's populist isn't always right and what's right isn't always populist.
Ron Paul in 2012. All of your constitutional rights with none of the hypocrisy.

And don't forget, kids: that 10 cents an hour would actually be worth something had the Federal Reserve bankers and the government bureaucrats hadn't gotten involved and destroyed our money.

Does anybody even read Salon? I mean I've never even heard lefties talk about it
Redeye1524 3 months ago

This comment has received too many negative votes show
1. Paul is a creationist. enough to disqualify him right there.
2. He thinks Rand was some sort of genius instead of a fool--same thing.
3. He wants to deregulate, which would mean the banks run even wilder--corporations dump more poison into the environment, etc.
4. He thinks gold is money.
Conclusion: He is a dangerous lunatic.
HConstantine 3 months ago
@HConstantine
Nope.
Big government loving asshole like you are the dangerous lunatics. You only have to look at the civil rights violations, the war mongering and the economic catastrophe to see what a bunch of dangerous lunatics big government slaves like you really are.
tridentmovies 3 months ago
@tridentmovies I don't like the government the way it is either (should be more like Sweden's), but he would make things much worse.
HConstantine 3 months ago
@HConstantine:
"should be more like Sweden's"

Conclusion: You're a dangerous lunatic.
