  • How much did that 0:18 seconds just cost?

  • GAU-8

The only gun I know with a plane attached to it.

  • Holy shit there's a plane on that gun!

  • Holy crap they had to strap te a10 down for this

  • A part of me wants to put my hand infront of the gun just to see what happens.

  • @DanTheVikingr because they are 30ft long, guzzle ammo, cost far too much money to maintain/resupply it all boils down to effectiveness really look at the 800mm german railguns of WWII, good on paper but logistical nightmares

  • The designers of the gun said, "You know what would make this gun even more horrifying? If it flew."

    Then they designed the A-10.

  • One of the few things I don't mind seeing (and hearing) my tax dollars being spent on.

  • @terminalfx >implying you even work.

  • @lilplayboy98 Yes, I do work, and have never had to collect unemployment a day in my life. So yes, those are my tax dollars, and every one else's tax dollars who make an honest living. Please throw your welfare trolling line elsewhere.

  • The official U.S. Government position on this weapon is as follows "Yer fuckin A right. bitch".

  • 0:07 IMA FIRAIN MA LAZER BLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Might sound a bit retarded - but can anything withstand a 30mm vulcan cannon ?? armor wise ...

    that gun is insane!!

  • @NACIXXEM Yup. An underground bunker, for a start, provided it's deep enough. The GAU-8 is good against surface targets but other than that, its main function is to reassure male American voters that their tax dollars are being spent on something cool.

  • Gau-8 vs Ac-130

  • does that kill?

  • the military should rename this the get raped in the ass if you get in its way cannon

  • Instead of mounting the gun to the plane they mounted the plane to the gun.. thats right the plane is an accessory for the gun

  • GAU-8: So powerful, that is fired for longer that 3-4 seconds, the A-10 will stall...

  • Why don't they mount these on tanks?

  • @DanTheVikingr I'm pretty sure it'd destroy the chassis of most modern tanks. Having said that, there are plenty of vehicles out there with 30mm cannons, Russia has a ton.

  • I know that blood flow is a bit of an issue for pilots, but how is it possible to fire this gun without sporting a steel-hard erection?

  • @Scrythe best comment EVER

  • I want that on my car!!!

  • 5 people are members of the taliban.

  • it's about how powerful this gun is. make it double when being mounted at A10 thunderbolt. The gun shoots at a rate of 4200 rounds per minute. Yes, four thousand. Pilots typically shoot either one- or two-second burst which set loose 70 to 150 rounds. The system is optimized for shooting at 4,000 feet.

  • That is rather like a rapid artillery shooting AP shells O,.o

Jeez those uranium rounds scare the shit out of me

  • Why are top two comments saying the same thing?

  • lets just add one of these to every uav in the force. XD

  • HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!!

  • DEAR SATAN!

  • This, my friends, is why we won the Cold War.

  • @goldenflames22 Actually, no. This plane (and the gun) was genius invention, but it never served it's purpose (attacking huge amounts of Soviet tanks in Europe) - In case you don't seem to know, if there would have been a WWIII in Europe, USA with western allies would have been deep shit, because the number of Soviet armor and troops would be so large. Don't read too much Tom Clancy. . And too add some extra info - The Russian GSh-6-30 is even more powerful than this and it is gas operated.

  • @BlackStar250874 yeah... i know... it was a joke

  • @BlackStar250874

Read up on that GSh-6-30 - it's almost as much of a danger to the aircraft it's mounted in than it is to the target. As for who would've won, let's all just be glad it didn't happen. I do think you're underestimating the various US/allied tank killers, though.

  • @BlackStar250874 How do you define power? The 30x173 used by the US has a total energy output of 151,095.57 foot pounds at the muzzle. The Russian 30x160 102,509.73 which means the bullet traveling from the gau8 has 50% more energy (And thus armor penetration) than the Russian counterpart. Granted the Gsh-6-30 is nothing to laugh about ,as far as total energy goes the a10 has more.

  • HOLY SHIT FUCK!!!

  • The aliens dont stand a chance

  • DEAR SANTA

  • ehhhm you know... there is this justin bieber concert in my town... and... ehhm..

    CAN I BORROW IT!

  • @bodyboystance2 LOL i can picture that and laugh my ass off

  • 4,200 rounds per minute. That's 70 rounds per second.

I'd like to see Chuck Norris try and roundhouse kick that!!!

  • @gbain7 wll acually its chuck norriss fart so im pretty sure he can handle it : )

  • @gbain7

    That's funny.

  • "If you hear the growl of the gun after the rounds hit a target...it means you're still alive."

  • 35 rounds within an half second

  • Oh, look! A machine gun with wings!

  • That's m y buck hunting pistol right there(just kidding=P)

  • dont wanna be the target.........

  • kickin in the front seat

  • where do the spent shells go???????

  • they basically took a huge ass gun and hooked a plane to it #LOL

  • Can you imagine a guy with this in the civil war? xD

  • *CoD player* Where can I buy one?

  • [insert TF2 Heavy reference here]

  • imagine this gun system mounted on the Goalkeeper CIWS system? I don't even...

  • This gun even can kill Chuck Norris!

  • @BoStaThij Chuck Norris uses this gun to scratch his back...

  • @19JK79 dude....chuck norris jokes aint funny any more....

  • .50 bmg has around 12000 ft pounds, this has around 150000

  • try mounting that on a tank. with full ammo supply. OWNED !

  • Jesus. Would you like some plane with your gun?

  • that wepon fired in 2 seconds about 600 shells.

  • Comment removed

  • This thing basically sounds like:

    "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE"

    ...

    "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPE" >:U

  • @thed3m3nt3d lol

  • @thed3m3nt3d LOL

  • I am heavy weapons guy!

And this! Is my future weapon!

  • Dear Santa

  • 1 of the 30mm rounds this fires can kill a tank and we shoot the taliban with over 500 rounds in a single strafing run.

  • GE: we bring good things to life...so that we can use them to test our massive armor-piercing Gatling cannons firing armor-piercing depleted uranium or high explosive incendiary ammunition and kill the crap right back out of them again. (that's what their slogan should have been changed to around the time they first began production of this piece of machinery.)

  • i heard if it flies level and empties a full load or ammo it could stall the plane

  • lol peak recoil is 4 tons

  • HAHAHA R U KIDDING ME??!?!?!?

  • Good brakes ! lol

  • dear santa...

  • But the shells of the bullets where they go?

  • @Micantropo78 They are recycled back into the weapon so no shell casings are ejected

  • I like how many freaking tiedown chains they had to keep it from moving!

  • @slayerd81 When the gun is firing it takes away the power of one of the engines, thats how much it recoils.

  • do you think neo could stop those bullets like he does in the matrix?

  • 400 bullets per second. who can possibly survive a second of that monster?

  • @Rocker1236661just a couple of dozens of bullets is more than enough, which would be a 20th of a second, let alone a second long burst

  • @whatupguys1 uh with that math, it would have a total rate of 28800 per minute but its only 4200 a minute. so check ur self before you post.

  • @TheMarokii I was just basing myself from what the other guy said, 24 bullets would be approximately the 16th of 400 bullets, this guy said 400 bullets was a second long burst so I just went off by what he said. You're right to let out 400 bullets you would need to fire for 6 seconds. Still its no reason to be an asshole about it...

  • @Rocker1236661 jesus with a bulletproof vest.

  • This is how Chuck Norris brushes his teeth.

  • It's so damn loud.

  • like 6 barrels wasn't enough

  • 30mm bullets...one of those in your gut and you blows up

  • @fartsmellsfunny96 no one of those to the gut and you and your entire family are wiped from existence. i mean medical records, passports, drivers licenses all gone. hell, your friends memories of you will be completely wiped.

  • the bullets its fireing is bigger then fucking head!!!

  • i think the casing would be dangerous aswell if firing at that speed!

  • @Hailfire999

The empty casings are stored internally in the plane so it wont cause damage^^

  • Please notice, they have the plane tied down so the recoil doesn't push it backwards. It's -THAT- powerful.

  • "Just give me you wallet and no one gets hurt...."

  • just awesome how they built the plane around the gun

  • the sound of the gau 8, gets me hard.

  • yea its cool but actually we didnt want to know that :D

  • @Dominik520520

    rofl!

  • give me a full 17 sec burst.

  • dont wanna be in front of that.....

  • The man who fitted a giant minigun in an airplane is just awsome.

  • @CrzayMazy Agreed, they should name a university of masculinity in his honor.

  • @CrzayMazy A minigun is the 7.62 M134. the GAU-8 is a giant Gatling gun. A minigun is not a type of gun, rather it is a specific model of Gatling gun.

  • @li7in6 Ah thanks, never really understood the difference between them. I though they were the same. ^^

  • @li7in6

to be more specific: the gau a8 is a gatling-cannon :D

  • @AllisterCaine

    Touche'

  • @CrzayMazy The avenger was built first, the A-10 was designed to fit around the cannon.

  • Hah, put up a wall, and shoot at it... 1200 rounds through that haha.

  • Gosh that plane is sexy...

I've held the shell the gau8 fires it's like 15 inches long...

  • Be afraid, be very afraid...

  • Man I love that plane. Always have, always will. Hope it stays in service for a long time to come.

  • MY GUN IS MOUNTED TO A PLANE

  • Fox, I was more thinking :-

MY PLANE IS MOUNTED TO A GUN!

    ;-)

  • @Sn0wc4t youre referin to fox mccloud

  • @jurcoello Actually referring to "legendofthefox" who's now buried among the comments. This was a year ago after all!

  • You mean: "My plane is mounted to the gun!!!" xD

  • @BigNose144 More apt than you might think. The A-10 was designed AROUND the Avenger.

  • HOOOOOOOLEY SHIT!

  • Oh yeah

  • ughhh i love to hear them fly over "BUUUUUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRP"

one hell of an aircraft .. Hooah we call it the WarHog

  • if the trigger was held down for 10 seconds when the "hog" was flying, the recoil from the gun would stop the "hog" in mid-air

  • Wrong. The A-10 carries one single Gau 8 that takes up to 1/3 of the aircraft, a full load of ammunition for this aircraft is 1200 rounds, which can be depleted in 17 seconds altogether in one squeeze. This gun fires 4200 rounds per minute, all thanks to the multiple barrels.

  • How does that make that comment wrong?

  • did you really read his comment and my response to his comment? Read again please. The rounds can be depleted in 17 seconds, he assumes that if you squeeze rounds for 10 consecutive seconds that the hog stops in mid air.

  • [citation needed]

  • LMFAO

  • um fuck no that would not happen. Yes the rounds fire slightly faster than the speed of one of the "hog's" engines and this recoil is considerable. However, in practice firing rounds can only slow the aircraft down a few miles an hour. Think about it, how can the intertia of firing a small round overcome the inertia of the huge fucking plane? Its impossible especially considering that the engines can move the plane at a speed which is only slightly slower than the muzzle velocity of the bullets

  • lol nice ,mdeon' xD

  • I just need it so i can haz fun

  • We need this weapon to destroy soulja boi

  • no, ammo is too expencive,

  • ne we should just kill him by tieing him up and making him listen to his "music" for an extended period of time

  • I love the irony in that!!!

  • What...why? Soula boy is such an inspiration and one of the greatest musical icons in the history of mankind. His lyrics are pure genius.

Soulja boy up in this hoe

Watch me lean and watch me rock

    Super man dat hoe

Then watch me crank dat robocop

Super fresh, now watch me jock

    Jocking on them haters man

When I do dat soulja boy

I lean to the left and crank dat thang

  • Aaaaaahahahahahaha.

  • @mdeonx16 We now need to use this to kill Justin Bieber.

  • @mdeonx16 him, and justin bieber.

  • gotta love a-10. dont forget f-22 raptor with stealth capability

  • that gun extends atleast half-way thru the plane. that gun is massive...and awesome

  • DU is realy only a problem when you are the gun loader in a tank and heaving around blocks of it all day

  • The WHO did tons of studies of vets from the first Gulf War who actually have pieces of DU rounds floating around in their bodies. No adverse health effects were noted.

From the United Kingdom Royal Society in May 2001 did their own study that said even if DU rounds were 100x too low, the chances of increased risk of cancer is negligible.

Its good to be concerned but DU rounds just aren't that dangerous. They use them not because they are radioactive but because they are heavier.

  • Sorry, I meant because they are more dense.

  • the speed reduction is not great enough for the plane to stall so in that case its ok. but sustained firing causes the barrel excessive wear and shortens the barrel life

  • I was talking with a man who used to pilot an A-10 and he said that whenever he fired the GAU it felt like the plane paused in the air for a split second

  • If I recall correctly, the gun creates roughly as much thrust as one of the aircraft's engines.

  • see the youtube radioactive specialists are here

    Pmsl :-)

  • Depleted Uranium is far less radioactive than natural uranium (which occurs almost everywhere, its pretty much dirt). Lots of things put off radiation, you encounter it every day (light bulbs, smoke detectors, computer monitors, etc.) In fact, you absorb more radiation from standing out in the sun for one minute than you'd get from shoving a 30mm round up your ass...

  • the thing is that depleted uranium has been refined, and is still giving off large quantities of alpha particles, which are harmful. But bullets kill people, these however continue to do so

  • Alpha particles don't need that much shielding though. They're easily stored close to crews with very little risk for the personnel.

  • Yeap.. I just find out... The GAU-8 DOES NOT drop the shells, the go by an metalic belt to a store drum.

The capacity of the A-10 gun is 1200 rounds and almost shot everything in the arsenal of projectile. (i dont know if there a mini nuke jejejejejeje) But that was a good question mate!!

  • Beside "ShastyMcNastey"

You understand what i wrote down, and the meaning of the sentence and with that is enough. [ the fact that u dont liked is your problem again! ]

If you want perfection, this is not the place mate.. :P

  • I never see any shell casings eject. DO they dissolve inside the barrel. Or are they internally stored until landing?

  • Stored. Getting rid of them would create a falling object hazard to friendlies which the A-10 overflies typically on gun strafings, also would create a center of gravity change.

  • also if they were ejected they would throw the plane off balance making it more difficult to fly

  • they are returned to the magazine drum

  • Comment removed

  • Ha, all you hippies that think the radioactivity is dangerous are dumb. Thats why its called "depleted" uranium. Though it is under debate how dangerous it is, it has not caused any harm to anyone.

  • Yeah, hippies + ignorance = reality.

  • It is not radiation that is the problem with DU, it releases very low amount of alpha particles. The problem is that DU corrodes quickly into uranium oxides which are poisonous and linked to Gulf War syndrome.

  • Look for Uranium whereever you want, in all forms and states and see if the radiation goes away.. READ and LEARN before make suck a stuped comment!

    Avoid be and ignorant mate!

  • You do not speak again until you can say "such," "stupid," and whatever that last sentence is supposed to say...

They have nothing wrong with them. I could sleep in a bed of depleted uranium every night and be perfectly fine.

  • Sorry if you dont like my gramma dude, i dont care.. I am German speaking, also Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Latin and Greek too!

How many languages do you speak perfectly????

So if u like to have a disease like any kind of "Malignant Neoplasm" in the near future thats ur problem mate.

PS: I write down fast and dont pay much attention to the gramma dud, so cut me some slack and dont be a pain, get used to that, cause i dont going to stop writing u liked or not. : ) (chill out)

  • I think it's clear you don't know what the fuck you're talking about.

  • those round are like 7 inches long

  • They're 12 inches long.

  • Whew! That would be great to have one on a tank to rip bunkers and APC's

  • It can also be used as a reverse gear (quite handy for parking, but it makes some damage to its environment)

  • Two words - NAILED 'EM!!!1!!

  • woow very powerfull weapon!

  • The A-10 is so fucking badass! I want a GAU-8 I always thought though it was the GAU 10 wait... nvm....

  • i love the A-10, it's just so fucking beastly and menacing =D

  • right, my cuz works on them bad boys

  • Looks like the tie-downs are under some serious stress!

    $17.50 per round X 80 rps = $1,400.00 per second!

    Priceless!!!!

  • now a guided missile is 100.000- 250.000 $ :))... and more precise .. but the sound of this gun just makes u wish it was under your xmas tree :D

  • plus the recoil it gives is said to be 4 tons O_O 4 bloody tons.... XD this thing fires at 5,000-6,000 rounds per min rite?.....bloody waste of money lol especially when firing at nth XD

  • i thought it was more or so 3000 rpm? aka 50 rp/sec. oh well. And i also read that a depleted uranium round costs like between 15-20 dollars each
