Saw them in 1995? Visiting Santa Cruz, they played Half Moon Bay... I was transported! Love them! Bought their CD that night and enjoyed it ever since. So glad to find them on YouTube and on their site. Glad they're still playing. Their music is an antidote to everything that is wrong and screwed up and insane... a rescue to a groovy place where you can truly relax and be happy. Retro and current... The Mermen!

driving up north from santa cruz, 1994, i pulled off randomly and as soon as i parked i heard music and waves, followed it down to the beach. the wind was blowing offshore at 20 knots, and set-up there on somebody's back lawn which turned into the beach, were the mermen playing rather loudly to windsurfers who were ripping it up in the waves. it blew me away and i've been a fan ever since

this band imho is the stellar surf band in entire world and should be utilized forthwith by all those great clips showing unbelievable waves and riders but the music truely sucks on almost every single one, see for yrself

I saw the Mermen a couple of times around 2002, 2003 in Raleigh, NC. I realize now that they don't come east very often. They need to come back again soon. There is alot of apreciation for their music in North Carolina. They are amazing live!
