I did not kill Cohen, but he did not open the medical expert case. Before he reached the bottom of the stairs, he teleported back to the top, even though I did not attack him. Afterwards, he was just stuck in this weird pose. How do i get the medical expert now???

he doesn't open the box he opens the contaner next to it and says you are not worthy enought to gets whats in the box. theres no key on his body ethier
You get the key from him if you kill him, but you should rather let him live, that way he'll appear again later in the game and give you access to something far more useful. After that you can still kill him and get whats in the box, you won't really need it at that point though.
