Oh, that's what happened to me. :P Your dualboot setup is exactly the same as me. No need for reinstall, just when it shows the linux stuff, ya know, blank blank (recovery mode) and stuff, use the 3rd option. :P Then go into ubuntu's grub list and change the 3rd option to default. :) That's what I did, I think the kernal is just corrupt.
