  • I'm curious, what were the name of the old 1940 1950 comics featuring Donald Duck and his family where they were going on treasure hunts? Weren't those what inspired Ducktales? I would love to read those.

  • @AdamGomez87

These are some of the Carl Barks comics that have been adapted into episodes of Duck Tales:

Land Beneath The Ground (The episode was titled "Earthquack") - Uncle Scrooge #13, 1956

Lost Crown Of Genghis Khan - Uncle Scrooge #14, 1955

Tralla La (The episode was titled "The Land of Tra-La-La") - Uncle Scrooge #6, 1954

Back To The Klondike - Four Color #456 (Uncle Scrooge #2), 1953

    Pleasant reading!

    /Ted

  • I'm curious, his lucky dime was that in the original comic or was that introduced in Ducktales?

  • @AdamGomez87

Scrooge´s number one dime is from the comics of Carl Barks - the creator of Scrooge McDuck.

  • @wanteddesigndotse thanks, what were the name of those old comics?

  • @AdamGomez87

Other great adventure stories by Carl Barks:

    Lost In the Andes!

    The Golden Helmet

    The Old Castle´s Secret

    The Second-richest Duck

Look at coa.inducks.org to find more great comics by Carl Barks (and other artists).

    /Ted

  • Wow, that was top notch

  • @AdamGomez87

    Thank you very much! :)

  • my life has been changed, this was one of my dreams to swim in money, but peter showed me thats probably not a good idea

  • 30 second intro? This is how to not make a video.

In the future, please assume people read faster than that. If they don't, the slowpokes can rewind to catch that oh-so-informative text.

  • @nymersic

I totally agree – a 30 second intro is way too long for this type of video. But when I did this film 12 years ago I had never done an intro to a video. Besides that I never thought I would be able to show my animation to more than my family and friends.

  • Awesome :) skriver på svenska för du också är svensk.

DU fångar liksom dendär klassiska mysiga stilen vi alla älskar.Som man aldrig ser i dagens tecknade serier.

  • @Stordrage

Tack så jättemycket för dina fina kommentarer! :) De värmer!

    Ha en riktigt bra dag!

  • Too much unnecessary text.

  • do the scrooge mcduck and then you dive into yo money

  • Very nice animation, love how it blends with the music=) This one and Garfield were the very first comics, I had read..it brought me back to that time:D

Greetings from Bulgaria and a Happy New Year to you and everyone else here=)

  • @Gloomsong

Thank you very much! Glad you liked it! :) When I found this music from Swan Lake I knew I would be able to animate Scrooge diving in money to it. I feel honored to bring you back to your childhood memories of your first comics.

Greetings from Sweden - I wish you a great 2012!

    /Ted Johansson

  • @ThePenlessArbiter

    Thank you! :)

  • wonderful

  • @kubalibre77

    Thank you!

  • AAAHHH!! IT'S NOT A LIQUID!!! IT'S A LOT OF GOLD COINS THAT MAKE A FLOOR LIKE SURFACE!!! AHHH!

  • Riiight... A rat in his safe... I bet not even a fly can pass by xD

  • @AbbFarid

Believe it or not - there have been rats in Srooge´s Money Bin at times. :)

    Happy New Year!

    /Ted

  • This is why they should make Uncle Scrouge animation in Hollywood.

  • @Zeedware2

I´m honored by your comment! :)

    I wish you a great 2012!

    /Ted

  • was the stupidly long intro necissary? when im randomly looking at videos i want to get straight into the action! humbug!

  • I see your point. When I did this animation 12 years ago I never thought anyone else but me was going to see it.

    /Ted

  • AHHHH it's not a liquid! It's a great many pieces of solid matter, that form a hard floor like surface! AAAHHHHH

  • Super beautiful animation! :)

  • @GustavNils

Thank you very much! Glad you liked it!

    God fortsättning på 2012!

    /Ted

  • So... Scrooge is part of the 1%

  • thank god I watched family guy before I watched this O.O

  • hmm. you might be able to do that with Euros or Dollar bills, but most definitely NOT with coins, gold or otherwise.

  • @WorldWalker128

Scrooge is the only one who can dive into money. In Carl Barks´ comic "Only a Poor Old Man" (1952) Scrooge fools the Beagle Boys to try to dive into his money – but they end up bashing their heads on the hard surface.

    Happy New Year!

    /Ted

  • koch brothers dream

  • what music is this? John Strauss?

  • @ArasBabyJ It's a waltz from Tchaikovsky's ballet Swanlake :)

  • @Stravinsky91

    Correct!

  • Its not a liquid its many prices of solid matter that form a hard floor like surface

  • 15 people didnt get any money froms crooge, nice video

  • @taiamon

Thank you! Happy New Year! :)

    /Ted

  • do not attempt

  • its not a liquid! Its a great many pieces of solid matter, that form a hard floor like surface!

  • @RealSokka you bastard i was gonna post that xd

  • @RealSokka But you must remember that it has less friction than the average pile of money.

  • This guy should recreate Ducktales.

  • @daralzand i like your humour, i was thinking the same thing

  • If Family Guy is why you came here, you need to go and read the entire Uncle Scrooge catalog so you can be introduced to one of the greatest characters in comic book history. You really don't know what you're missing...

  • OOOAAAWWWW GOD! IT'S NOT A LIQUID! IT'S A GREAT A MANY PIECES OF SOLID MATTER THAT FORM A HARD FLOOR LIKE SUBSTANCE!

  • Aaaaagghh! It's not a liquid! It's a great many pieces of solid matter that form a hard floor-like surface!

  • Do not try this at home.

  • @simonnor Peter Griffin did

  • @grasimpson And we all saw how well that went.

  • nice cartoons

  • @yasirdik

    Thank you!

  • It's my favourite Disney's character ;)

  • @michcio44

    It´s my favourite too! :)

    Have a nice day!

    /Ted

  • @veraveralove1

To begin with – I´m a bit of a geek when it comes to the Disney ducks. Otherwise I would not talk about the “real” Scrooge in the first place. :)

I just want to specify that it´s Scrooge from the comics and not from Duck Tales I base my short animation on. I like Duck Tales too but I know I would have liked it even better if they hadn’t changed anything from the comics of Carl Barks. In my opinion – why chance something perfect?

  • @veraveralove1

Duck Tales is different from the comics in several ways. For example in DT the Beagle Boys have different looks. In the comics they all look the same. In DT Donald Duck joins the Navy and you never see him in any other episode (as far as I know).

In terms of my film the things I mean differ it from Duck Tales is that you never see Scrooge´s money swim in DT as it is shown in the comics of Carl Barks. I have tried to animate as closely to the original money swim as I could.

  • @veraveralove1

One more thing differ my film from Duck Tales. In DT Scrooge´s coat is blue – in my film his coat is red as in the (American) comics.

That´s why I say that I base my animation on the “real” Scrooge.

  • @veraveralove1

Duck Tales was good but I base my short animation on the Scrooge in the comics. That is the “real” Scrooge to me.

    Have a nice day!

    /Ted

  • @dynomitis

I agree. Scrooge is my favorite character of all time!

  • nice ainamasin

  • @BloodlustLizzy

Do you mean nice animation? :S If so – thank you!

  • @wanteddesigndotse LOL yeas i meant nice animation! lol I must have been typing late..lol

  • i think he has a much better name in swedish:

    Joakim Von Duck.

  • @videocritic2463

I think the name “Scrooge” fits the richest duck in the world perfectly. Everybody who is familiar with the character Scrooge in Charles Dickens´ “A Christmas Carol” immediately knows what type of character Scrooge is. Besides that - with a name that begins with the letter “S” you can also make reference to American money by putting a big “$” on the Money Bin.

  • What? I thought this was made by real disney artists.

It was very well done! Bra jobbat

  • @Tekarott

Thank you very much! I´m truly flattered! :)

    Ha en bra dag!

    Bästa hälsningar Ted

  • Vive oncle Picsou autrement dit Uncle Scrooge :-)

  • @MrHappyMenn

I totally agree. In a matter of fact I had a subscription of Picsou Magazine for a while even though I don´t read French. Why? Don Rosa did special pin-up pages for Picsou Magazine during that time.

  • my childhood lol n also tom n jerry

  • @ExtraTerrestrials

The Tom and Jerry shorts from the 40´s and 50´s are just great!!

  • Oh man! If you make a movie like bestmoviesEVAH says i will buy it!

  • @ABBAbiggestfan

Thank you! Unfortunately that never gonna happen. It was fun and instructive to try animation but I have never been interested in working with it. What I want to do is to draw comics with the Disney ducks. That is where my passion is!

    Have a great day!

    /Ted

  • @ABBAbiggestfan really

  • Puxa, que desenho perfeito!! Muito bonita mesmo a homenagem! :D Parabéns!

  • @MidiaeEcologiacom

Thank you! Glad you liked it! :)

  • Uncle Scooge need to reup.

  • i once tryed to phine uncle scrooge but it seems he sold his indentity

  • If there weren't comments saying this wasn't made by Don Rosa I would've never believed it.

    Congratulations on an excelent work

  • @159xxx753

I´m truly flattered by your comments! Thank you very much! To be compared with Don Rosa in any way is an honor. He is without a doubt the artist that has influenced me the most.

If you haven’t already seen it check out my other video: “My Donald and Scrooge drawings”. That video include different drawings with the ducks I have made.

    Have a nice day!

    Best regards

    Ted Johansson, Sweden

  • @wanteddesigndotse The mouse eating the bill gig is Rosa's though, right?

  • @GreedishSH420

Don Rosa has many unique gags in his comics but the mouse eating a bill isn´t unique for Rosa. There have been mice in Carl Barks´ comics too – threatening to destroy all of Scrooge´s bills. But at the same time I have to admit that I had the cover from Uncle Scrooge 281 in my head. A cover by Rosa where Scrooge equipped with a spade is trying to remove a bill-eating mouse. But I never tried to make my mouse look like Rosa´s.

    Best regards

    Ted Johansson

  • @wanteddesigndotse thanks so much for helping conserving these amasing cartoons.Keep up the good work!

  • @MDIVISIONRULES

Thank you! Have a great day!

    /Ted

  • In portuguese he is Uncle Duckie, but if you know portuguese it sounds better =) great memories.

  • @Novinte

    Thank you for your information!

  • This is almost better than the animation in the 'Ducktales' series. :D Congratulations.

  • @GoldenFlither15

    Thank you very much! :)

  • You deserve a A+ for that, it's fantastic!

  • @freepepsicola

Thank you VERY much for that comment! I´m truly flattered! :D

  • this was the first cartoon show of my life...

oh i miss those innocent days,

i wish i cud be a kid again (which is impossible) :) :)

  • @romachauhan

Maybe you mean "Duck Tales"? I have hard to believe that my animation was the first cartoon you ever saw. But if it was then I´m flattered!

"To always be a bit like a child is to be really grown-up"

  • I'm tempted to search for the word "DUCK" in this. I have to remind myself that this isn't Don Rosa. It's just on par with his art.

  • @AtarahDerek

Thank you very much – I´m flattered! :) As you understand Don Rosa is my great inspiration. If you want to see more Disney drawings I have made look here:

Go to DeviantArt and search for "Don Rosa 50". Then click on the drawing with the text "Happy 50th birthday Don!". Then click on "More from Ted Johansson" and you will se my gallery.

    Have a nice day!

    Greetings from Sweden

  • When I grow up I want to be just like Scrooge Mcduck.

  • @MrTornado532

    Good luck! ;)

  • I could watch this over and over without getting bored. Also, when people wonder things like: "Why do well all strive for money? Where does it really get us?", you just have to point to this video.

  • @aquadot038

Thank you for your nice comment! :)

  • Does swimming regularly make you grow taller?

  • @TheLeilisa

Why don´t you try? ;) It won´t make you shorter!

  • @wanteddesigndotse i ve been trying it and this w....helpogrowth.commm i have already grown over 2 inches so it works

  • Wow! That was really good! :D

  • @ThePixarPrincess

Thank you very much! :) I´m flattered!

  • great job.... can you tell me how named the song???

  • @stavrosd999999

Thanks! :) The music is from Tchaikovsky´s Waltz from "Swan Lake".

  • Isn't it wonderful? Merry Christmas!

  • @meow0meow7

If the commentary was intended for my animation - thank you!

  • Yay, a place where I can say I have a copy of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck signed by Don Rosa himself without being embarassed :P

  • @NaxNax96

You should be proud to have a signed comic book by a talented artist as Don Rosa! I have met Don Rosa several times and I have therefore a lot of comics books signed by him. Among them both the English and the Swedish version of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. I have also some drawings and a original comic page.

    /Ted

  • @wanteddesigndotse Back when Don came to Greece I couldn't make it to Athens in time, so I had a friend get a book signed in my stead :( He said Don was overwhelmed by a huge crowd of happy Greeks that he didn't really expect, so he didn't have time to do anything besides sign and the signing lasted well over the planned time. My friend also got to chat with Don's wife, who was just as amazed by the Greek fanbase :p I wish I could have met Don in person since I grew up with his works >.<

  • @NaxNax96

Don Rosa has always been very loyal to his fans. It´s too bad you never got the chance to meet him personally. We can always hope he will visit Greece again. If you have a comic convention and they invite him I´m sure he would be glad to come.

  • @NaxNax96 Shout it out on a mountain top!!

I bought a copy of it on Ebay two days ago. It's in the mail now. Can't wait to get my hand on it. Oh, glory day.

  • Wow, this is really good! You should work for Disney!

  • @Manetoys83

Thanks! What I really want to do is to draw Disney comics with Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck professionally. That´s where my passion is!

    Have a nice day!

    /Ted Johansson

  • great work man!!!

  • @onceuponthecross1

    Thank you man! ;)

  • @onceuponthecross1

    Thank you! :)

  • @juli0o12 I am watching this while I was listening to painkiller

  • lmao, according to my Insight statistics for my channel, this video alone accounts for more than half the traffic to my page, wtf, lol

  • Nice to see the animation dedicated to Carl Barks, as well as an "inspired by" inscription to him:)... but the design of Scrooge is clearly based much more on Don Rosa's design. It shows especially in the eyes and the beak.

Oh, and the rat kinda looks like he sneaked in from a different universe.

  • @Mesterius1

I´m sorry for my late reply but here it comes. For those familiar with the art of Don Rosa I guess it´s not very hard to see where I´ve got my influence. Don Rosa was the artist who really made me hooked on Donald Duck comics.

Even if my drawing style is more inspired by the work of Rosa I still wanted to dedicate the animation to Carl Barks – the creator of the richest duck in the world.

  • @Mesterius1

I´m far from pleased with how Scrooge looks in the animation. I would have done it much better today.

As for the rat I totally agree with you! It´s not a typical Disney rat. :)

    Have a nice day!

    /Ted

  • Awesome! You would make a great Disney animator!

  • @Andriaccini

Thanks but I wouldn´t be a great Disney animator! For that you need to be much more skilled! But what I would like to see is a Disney film with Uncle Scrooge not based on Duck Tales but on the comics of Carl Barks and Don Rosa.

  • OMFG! That's just fantastic, really. I wish I could make something looki so real!

  • @Linneasan

Thank you for your comment! If you practice I think you will be surprised how "real" an animation test will look.

  • Fantasick animation! I think no one can do that better! (Only the professional can do that better) But is the best uncle scrooge animation i ever had seen!

  • @ABBAbiggestfan

I´m truly flattered! Thank you very much for your comments! :) I probably would have done the film better if I had done the film today (10 years later) but my goal isn´t to animate more Scrooge films. What I hope to do is to get the chance to draw Scrooge comics professionally in the spirit of Carl Barks and Don Rosa. That´s where my passion is!

    /Ted

  • Part 2: I can actually recall the one comic where Uncle Scrooge loaned out money to Donald because all his vaults were filled to the brim and he thougfht Donald would squander the money and thus eliminate the overlfow. Donald's investments paid off and the resulting trucks of money that showed up at US's vaults had him perplexed about having even more money to somehow store! Loved seeing US again and live! How wonderful of you to create and post! Thanks so much!

  • @johncfl

Thank you very much for your comments! Glad you enjoyed the film! Uncle Scrooge comics have always been my favorite comics especially those made by Carl Barks and Don Rosa. The comic you refer to must be “Spending money” (WDC 144) from 1952. One of many good Carl Barks comics.

    Have a nice day!

    /Ted

  • @wanteddesigndotse Wow, thanks Ted! Gee, remembering a comic book story from the age of 8, how wonderful to know.

  • Thank you so much for creating and posting this. There were a handful of comics that II enjoyed as a young child chief among them was Uncle Scrooge, Superman and Batman.

  • This was really well done but us Scroogophiles know U.S. tossed his coins up & let them hit him on the head - he loved it!

  • @rogerstill71

I know Scrooge does that in the comics. I guess I must have been a bit lazy at the end. :) It was easier for me to animate the coins passing Scrooge´s head than animate a lot of coins hitting him on the head. This is my version of the daily money swim and therefore it isn´t exactly as in Carl Barks comics but hopefully close enough. If I ever get the chance to draw a Scrooge comic I promise I will do the money swim properly! :)

  • Wow! Fantastic work! "Spring 2000"

Why publish it 10 years later? ^^

  • @hederligman12

Thank you very much! To answer your question: Why not? ;) Joking apart. I have just not thought of it until recently. I came to think about a friend who had published his examination film on YouTube and thought “That should I do too!”. But I couldn´t dream there would be as many people interested in seeing my film as there have been.

    Have a nice day!

    /Ted

  • Really love it but I have to tell you that Scroodge was originally created by Carl Barks, unlike the other duck characters. Is not one of Disney's.

  • @EvesK1988

Glad you liked it. In the beginning of the animation I have written “This animation is dedicated the creator of Uncle Scrooge; Carl Barks”. I´m fully aware that Carl Barks created the character but that doesn´t change the fact that it still is a Disney character. Otherwise you wouldn´t read “Walt Disney´s Uncle Scrooge” on the covers of the American Disney comics. Carl Barks created many of the wonderful characters of Duckburg but they all belong to the Walt Disney Company.

  • Really awesome scrooge Mcduck animation !

Did the music from this clip came from a certain classical piece or did you make it yourself ? I really like it and I want to get the full version of it !

    Greetings from Beligium

  • @luftwaffebe

Really glad you liked it so much! :) The music is from Tchaikovsky´s Waltz from "Swan Lake". Search for "Waltz from Swan Lake" on Spotify or similar music page and you will find the full version.

I was really happy when I found the music and realized that it would fit my idea of an amimated Scrooge diving in money.

    Greetings from Malmö, Sweden

  • You´re not his fans really.Try me with anything and i´ll prove to be a the best.

  • Uncle Scrooge is my hero, without him i`d NEVER be this rich!

  • beautiful~

  • @ginaswo

    Thanx! :)

  • This is a beautiful animation! Thank you for making that film. :)

  • @Finn84

And a big thank you for that comment! I´m truly flattered!

  • Joakim von Anka, awesome animation :)

  • @Lunkwow

Thank you very much! :) Ha en bra dag! /Ted

  • I just wanna cry!!

  • u should make an all movie with this! It had to be nice :)

  • @bestmoviesEVAH

I´m honored to get a comment like that! Unfortunately I don´t have any more animation films like this one but if you want to see different kind of drawings I´ve made please visit my homepage: wanteddesign.se.

  • wow - that's really cool !!! Super

  • @derGruender

    Thanks! :)

  • Great :-) Really great seeing this classic scene brought to animation! I love it :-) Yours A C, danish donaldist

  • @ACSIVE

Glad you liked it! When a true donaldist likes it I guess I must have done something right. :) /Ted Johansson

  • Impressive! Thumbs up for you good sport!

  • @Uberskull

Thank you very much! :) I´m flattered!

  • Bless me kilts! Great job.

  • @RedLightBulbs

    :D Thanx!

  • Wow what a great film what kind of anamtion did you use for this??

  • @PieFights

Thank you very much! :) The film is put together in the animation program Animo.

  • Great job!

  • @UglyMannheim

    Thanks!
