Who are you tryin' to fool? Anybody that loves Jazz can hear that THIS ISN'T MILES SOUND, FRASEOLOGY, AESTHETICS, APPROACH, or, just to simplify, Miles Dewey Davis was a genius, an innovator, and never produced bad taste arrangements like this one.
THIS IS A FRAUD! This is not Miles playing here. You should be punished by law by deliberately lying and misguiding people that don't know enough of Jazz to distinguish the difference. It's a cultural crime, what you did.
Yep...the magics of the trumpet sound strikes again!! Wonderful instrument!! This classic song helps it too and same nice tune on Brian Ferry's voice...
@analogreproduction Yes, I can confirm that. Finally I was able to buy this album, so I'm sure that it's New York Unit with Hannibal Marvin Peterson on trumpet.
People put this stuff up not sure who's even playing it... so weird. On top of that, you have to not have listened to much Miles to think this is Miles. You can tell Miles is 1.2 seconds if you've listened to him truly.
@Fruscianteistheman This is NOT Bryan Ferry - unless the version I found on youtube (in which he sings) is very different to his album, Another Time Another Place. The song was written in 1933 by Kern and Harbach.
Sorry about that. Since no one's guessed in over 2 years, I'm gonna finally solve the mystery and explain why. The trumpeter is...Drum Rolll...CHET BAKER!! Miles has never performed this song. Louis Armstrong's version is 2:40 seconds and his trumpet sound is waaay different. Clifford Brown's version is 3:20 with strings. Compare this song with Chet Baker's "Autumn Leaves" and you will notice the similar playing style immediately.
It sounds like some Chet Baker or a french group, must checked. It's not a so bad version : i'll talk you something gravier 'bout a guy who has tinked Bill Evans' songs on synthé and put Evans' cover on it, robertobertinelli

@kingoliver45 The trumpeter is definitely not Miles Davis. I'd guess that he/she (probably he) is active post-1980, well trained in music college somewhere and probably white. Sounds very good but there's something very assured and sincere and smooth and even classically intoned (even though this is good stylistic jazz playing) about the notes that for instance you don't get with Freddie Hubbard who is frequently smooth but always has that surprise pizzazz and irreverance. Hard to describe it.
@jonathantsbower I agree. To me Freddies playing has an almost sarcastic attitude. Not to take away his seriousness though. Freddie and Louis to me are the most amazing Trumpeters ive ever heard. But yeah this cat is def post 1980
Davis and Brown are out of the question...this is some "Chris Botti" guy or like MrBacalov sad - maybe Marsalis... with much more modern influence and sounding
Who is? Think about Clifford, much more virtuoso (does not mean "better") than Miles was. I'm quite sure this is not Miles, maybe Marsalis, maybe not. In the end, who cares? Nice tune.
Of course this is not Miles, not even close ! I believe it is some wannabe trying to impersonate Clifford Brown who actually did this piece (With Strings) but nobody can do Clfford Brown and be believable !!!
@jazzmasta92 Mister "jazzmasta" you need to change your name if you really think this is Clifford Brown. I hope you're kidding. I can't even believe anyone is discussing this. Whoever this is is disrespectful to Miles Davis by posting this. He needs to take the time that he's using to post stupid things like this and practice. This is SAD!!!!!
@trump34 If you knew anything about jazz you would know this i not miles. First, miles does not use vibrato, and there is vibrato in this clip. Second the rhythm section dose not sound like a miles rhythm section. Also, miles dose not phrase the way this recording is phraed, (the articulation, the grace notes, and the runs). And lastly, it dose not sound like miles. So why dont you go back to the shed, and learn what jazz is. (Assuming you know, what the shed is).
@jazzmasta92 Are you retarded or something? Is it that you can't read or can't interpret? You said "this is Clifford Brown. Not Miles." Well, stupid, this is neither Clifford Brown or Miles is what I'm trying to tell your dumb ass. If you knew ANYTHING, you wouldn't think this is Clifford. I'm not a musician but I love the trumpet and jazz. I take it you are a musician and you don't have the ear I have. Once again, THIS IS NOT CLIFFORD BROWN, STUPID!!
@jazzmasta92 This is some lame ass trumpet player trying to get views by posting that its "Miles." Its probably your sad ass because you're really defensive. Have you posted anything? BTW, the "woodshed" that you speak of is term used for honing your craft or practicing your instrument not learning "what jazz is." Why don't you learn what the terms you use mean? You sound really stupid.
@mikeandmike What are you talking about, you lame motherfucker? I'm not insulting Clifford Brown. I'm insulting whoever this sad bitch is on this video claiming he's Miles Davis. So stop being such a little fag and learn to read or interpret, at least.
Clearly not Miles Davis-defintely a modern recording-long after Miles was playing standards AND not in Miles style in any way, shape or form.
This video needs to be re-labeled or taken down-wouldn't want folks to hear this and confuse it with MIles
Check the link from adam7k to see the answer to WHO is playing-nice group-not Miles.
