  • Nice stuff but there is a lack if respect on this thread. To sum up this thread or comments. No of us can not top what these guys did. From Aaron to Maserati. They got credits and track listings.....and those big checks. We should use the information from these guys to better out craft.

  • so from reading these comments...Engineer's are pretty bitchy, huh? no wonder you guys never talk to anyone in the studio

  • Never before have I seen a comments section of an audio-related video so full of idiocy and poor information.

  • Dave Aron is tha man!!!! Truly a privilege to have access to this tutorial. Thanks for the crisp clean songs over the years!

  • Dave Aron is officially my favorite person until further notice... i should of watched his shit forever ago

  • I downloaded DVD and realized once again why I always quit videos with hip hop producers explaining mixing. Gosh...this guy is not just deaf but has no idea what is doing whatsoever. I don't care he work with Snoop and he worked with 2 Pac, also has some school background...everything he's doing is just WRONG. Clipping all over the place, digital distortion, boosting worst possible freq's, pulling faders up all the time, mix is falling apart.. T E R R I B L E. Worst mixer I ever saw.

  • @Vanjal you sir are incorrect

  • @j1mbafr0sty Okay, I won't say I'm NOT but I know that I stated what I witnessed. It's a fact. And a LOT of books and awesome engineers would never let their mix clip, distort, put compressors on already smashed samples, I mean...basically all I watched in this DVD is how you SHOULDN'T do things.

  • @Vanjal STFU and post your own videos, dumb fool

  • @pirell I will post them when I feel need to share something. I don't feel that now. There is enough stupid kids like you already probably doing so and doing it terribly wrong like this deaf poor dude. I mean it's a hip hop....5 sounds and vocal. How hard can it be not to clip, distort and make it right in 10 minutes.... I saw people mixing bands with 40 tracks of just guitars. That's fucking heavy lifting.

  • @Vanjal many HH mixes are clipped and distotrted, its all part of the mix, trying to sound different. nobody rights kanye and says :hey i liked your tracks but you didnt mix it properly cos it was clipping. you dont have anything to post bcos you're more of a talker than a doer. if people pay dave aaron lots of money to mix for them its for a reason. who the heck knows YOU? its always easy to talk without backing up. so run away and crawl back into your cave you silly girl. done talking to u

  • @pirell I'm not famous as this guy but if he became famous with THIS than certainly I need just to wait. Chris Lord Alde, Eddie Krammer, Randy Staub, JJ.Puig, Maserati...those are REAL mixers. This guys is just someone who likes taking overloaded mixes as an excuse for lack of understanding audio.

  • @Vanjal 3 of those people you mentioned are on WAVES.com website as they are mixing masters, but guess what...SO IS DAVE AARON..HAHAHA. so now you can piss off with your complaints when in reality you havent mixed shit. nobody cares...so bugger off and allow us to learn from the more experienced mixers, not a frigging loud mouth nobody like you.

  • @pirell Watch Many Marroquin and Maserati for great lessons. They are mixing rap as well but they do that GOOD and they can distinguish terrible ear piercing-speaker blowing digital overs.

  • @Vanjal So why dont you post two or three mixes you done.......and let us all hear it....and will tell you if it sounds better than Dave Aron's. what you dont understand is that even the GREATS have some of their mixes CLIPPING....its not about that...its about capturing the sound and emotion of the song...you can ALWAYS handle clipping later on...its not an issue at all. Dave Aron is a friend of mines....and personally he's a great guy, its people like you who like to bring people down why?

  • this guy is brilliant, makes you know that music don't have to be scientific, just go with the flow, just like dj'in

  • @blaoh , follow me :) trying to come up

  • Thx Dave

  • Michael Scott

  • that rapper had a major case of USI (Unwarranted Self Importance) to demand an engineer record his bloopers that he knew he wasn't gonna use... O.o either that he was crunked at the time...

  • If you were ANYBODY, you wouldn't leave negative comments on here. So go pay your dues and shut up.

  • people are fuckin stupid they see 6 mins of a 2hour video n think this guuy dont know wat he doin, he makin a living doin this, while yall sittin on ur cpu talkin bout him

  • can ear waxing help the mix

  • He's sure clipping the shit out of the output of the plug in.

  • The New Audio Blog!!! ZeSoundSuite!!!

    Google: ZeSoundSuite

    ZeSoundSuite-d0t-c0m

    Everything Audio!

  • it only looks as if it is, pro tools has a lot of headroom so you CAN push signals into the red (to an extent) before they start audibly clipping (thats what you dont want) So in short, it just looks as if its clipping, digital clipping sounds really bad like loud crackling (trust me you'd notice) He is simply taking advantage of the available headroom in pro tools to get a bigger sound and a wider stereo image.

  • what's the song in the beginning?

  • why the hell are the tracks clipping?

  • @gabydaphantom becuz it the beginning of the mix, he just started..if u seen the whole video u would now dat

  • cool

  • what version of pro tools is this?

  • @RIGERSMEJDANI he's using pro tools 7.4

  • ei thanks mann

if ai dont have the interface of the same profuct it works??

    like....

i have now cubase do i need the streinberg interface?...

cos it dont work whit the microfono conect

    direc to the computer

    sorry im mexican

    hehe

and the reaper works wit te microfono of the web cam

    i realy not GOOD

  • lol - just because the levels hit red, it doesnt mean the track is going to clip on mixdown. First of all, high-end DAWs have around 3db headroom. Second, once you fix levels at the end, you should be lowering the main (ALL TRACKS) fader to allow more headroom for mastering... well, that's obviously one of the ways you can do it when working on a DAW...

  • @SkeptikMC YOU DONT BRING DOWN THE MASTER . WHAT YOU DO IS GROUP THE TRACKS TOGETHER AND THEN BRING THE LEVEL DOWN , AND NOW BECAUSE THE TRACKS ARE GROUPED THE THE OTHER GO DOWN IN RATIO WITH THE ORIGINAL , YOU KEEP THE MASTER AT 0

  • how can i have pro tools?

    can you helpme

  • @kaft1994mc

    By buying it?

By buying a digidesign hardware setup / interface and getting it bundled with it?

Why do you specifically need Pro Tools? Why not one of the many other DAWs that doesn't require digidesign hardware?

  • i gotta say - it's the people in this thread who've been saying the amateur stuff, not dave aron. The guy has mixed classic albums. Just because you have pro tools, some plug ins, and you think you know what you're doing, doesn't give you the right to sh*t on someone who's already established, and has stronger credentials than you will probably ever aquire.

  • @neothaon3 very true

  • @neothaon3 agreed, so many greedy people out there, but dont get me wrong there are a lot of good people too :)

  • @neothaon3 Thats right you tell these AMAtuuures!! LOL You got alot of HATERS on youtube for...no ...REASon!!!

  • This guy saya ALOT of amateur shit to be considered so good. Im not buyin it.

  • Because he got some good Cali Bud!!!!!

  • Listen to All Eyez On me, tracks like life goes on, Holla at me, 2 of americas most wanted etc which Dave Aron mixed, and tell me if they sound bad or "clipping". This was back in 96, and a musical masterpiece. Internet-wannabe-producers dont know what they talking about.

  • @dannydboy20 message to the douche that said it was clipping (not you) - it doesn't mater if the channel is clipping, pro tools is running on a 32 bit platform, the only thing that matters is if you are clipping your output channel! (when 32bit float converted to 24bit) shows how much you know aye :)

  • @dannydboy20 HAHA.thank for stating that, i also dont like when people say they're engineers, or producers

on their youtube, when they're just ammatuers.

  • How do u no when to Double/stack your rap vocals? Isn't it impossible to do it the EXACT same way u did it the first time? same with Chorus

  • i dunno if i would say it's "impossible" - but it is the whole point after all, if it's performed the "EXACT" same way, it wouldn't sound like two voices, which would defeat the purpose.

  • it's funny i see a lot of comments saying he doesn't know what he's doing but he's getting paid to do it, evidently he's doing something right. i'm not saying he's the know it all but it looks like professional trust his mixing. God bless you all.

  • @lexamazing Lol I know right? He doesn't know what he doing but he's mixing Snoops, have mixed Tupac's, etc. He clearly know what he's doing because he has sold hits. No matter what the video is about, someone will always downplay it unfortunately

  • This guy is crazy, he's letting a bunch of tracks peak into the red zone where they'll start clipping!

Digital recorders distort the sound quickly when pushed past 0db unlike analog tape recorders.

I'm assuming this guy wasn't paying attention while making this video because he's supposed to be a professional!

  • @DJDAMIAN72 Ok guys this is whats happening....the track is NOT clipping, it only looks as if it is, pro tools has a lot of headroom so you CAN push signals into the red (to an extent) before they start audibly clipping (thats what you dont want) So in short, it just looks as if its clipping, digital clipping sounds really bad like loud crackling (trust me you'd notice) He is simply taking advantage of the available headroom in pro tools to get a bigger sound and a wider stereo image.

  • nothing should be clipping in your mix before you master it. if its clipping in your mix, after u master it itll sound even louder and unprofessional

  • very good point. Why do people think you must turn everything up?

  • master Hip Hop engineer my ass. This guy sucks at mixing. I don't care how many awards he has won.

  • too hot will kill the spirit - and wont let your vision too much room to play with your studio toys , waves rock!!

  • It's how it sounds that matters, now how it looks.

Thats why he's letting it clip..

    Does it sound good ?

    Good !

    Leave it that way..

    Thanks for the video

  • syncing out of order

  • clipping in digital recording is 100% distortion. I don't get it.

  • wow gold

  • Why is he letting the kick clip like that?? and continuing like it doensn't matter?? not talking shit.. i really wanna know.

  • when he adjusted the kick EQ , why did he let it clip so hard?

  • I agree, I learned from watching Dave Work. Thanks, nice video.

  • hell yes! what he did to the kick drum was sick.. but honestly we should all know that. haha

  • just watching th eman do his work, is enough for me

  • why the hell are you buying a hip hop mixing tutorial video to learn how to use pro tools. You buy pro tools tutorial video or torrent it. Dumb ass. What kind of African are you?

  • LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • you are the type of idiot thsat wantds to ri of everything and yet hope thsat people pay YOU for your pdouct? idiot

  • What the hell are your saying? I don't have any product to sell. I fucking have to work for someone. By the way, take one to know one, idiot.

  • ur retarded, stop arguing and let us watch the video of someone far more expeirienced and humble than yourself. bye

  • LMAO yo your name is funny and your comment is really ignorant. do you understand this guy is pretty much a legend in the "g funk" engineer... You sound stupid and should stfu! get YOUR brain straight. Protools is easy to use....

  • I 2nd that to. Why TF is it clipping!!

  • that kick in the beginning really sounded different when he added the 1176.

  • u see always white guys doing the work in the background ;) say no to rassicm

  • But why is everything clipping?

  • Pushing all your sounds is a great way to get volume out of a mix. He is using clipping and distortion to his advantage. making the track sound big. I use this technique all the time to get volume out of the dnb tracks I create,

  • I thought this only applies to the analog world where pushing levels into the red for tape compression is desired? Isn't clipping in digital 24 bit recording a big no no??

  • why the f do i have thumbs down.. I'm asking a question? I love Dave Aron mixes!!

  • I dunno man, I was wondering that myself -
