@cooltooth112 ...thanks for your message..but you have introduced your religious belief system with your comment. the fact is ...Del Shannon is dead...he commited suicide...that's sad. The evidence is that his body was buried/or cremated...the rest is pure speculation.
@fatcapitalistpig Not going to be a wise guy here but heaven and hell are not speculation to those who know and you do not know. No sarcasm, not being mean spirited. Thanks for your kind rememberance of the great Del Shannon.
@fatcapitalistpig IMO suicide is not an unforgivable sin, only blasphemy is, so I'd rather think of him jamming with all the others. It's not mine to jusdge anyway.
great words and so profound , yes there are so many artists that have gone and are sadly missed, Del Shannon, John Lennon Elvis Presley, Gene Pitney crispian St Peters, George Harrison and the list is endless. but we remember them all thanks to youtube.
I saw Del Shannon in the late 60s. I was a member of The Bailey's club in Sheffield. I was sixteen and shouldn't have been a member but I was and went there to play the casino unbeknownst to my parents. I always won. Never very much but always enough to buy a meal and show and one of the shows was Del Shannon. Happy days. He was brilliant and that voice so unique. Eventually I came clean to my dad about the gaming and he just laughed because he was liberal and because I had won.
Wow a great tribute to Del! I love this song. Del didn't realize it, but he was one of the GREAT singers!!! Damn the devil for talking him into suicide.
Merci Del Shannon pour toutes ces belles chansons et votre voix qui m'enchantent toujours. Puissiez-vous avoir trouvé la paix à laquelle vous aspiriez.
Del Shannon "Runaway" made me love rock and roll. I first song I learn on guitar was Runaway. When I heard of his passing, I cried. I still do when listening to his songs.
i met del in a dance club called the grainery in edwardsville il back in the mid 70s,walked up to him and told him what a fan i was,he asked me to join him and have a drink,,the 70s were a rough time in my life,so many ups and downs but surly this was one of my favorite UP MOMENTS
thanks for this moving song and slideshow! brings tears to my eyes as well. miss del and his awesome stuff! RIP, as he will always be remembered!appreciate this a lot! thanks

What a beautiful tribute. As a teenage surfer in the sixties, Del's song 'Follow the Sun' was our anthem.
Gone but not forgotten man.
