or was it on Feb. 28 1977?? Hempstead, New York Calderone Concert Hall during Giant's set, the ever-cheerful John Weathers wore some sort of wig over his balding head before removing it partway through the concert. a tape exists of this gig, as well. Ace was the opening act and was booed off the stage after two or three songs. there was at one time a rumor that another band was also on the bill, but this does not seem to be the case
That was the first time I saw GG live..WOW 1976..!!!
July 3 Hempstead, New York Calderone Concert Hall this show was broadcast live on New York City's WLIR radio. it was the longest known broadcast the band ever did. at one point between songs, Derek joked that he would "make peace" with the Americans for "dipping the tea in the water" and "kicking Britain out of Boston". following the usual encore of Peel the Paint/I Lost My Head, the band also played In the Midnight Hour.!!
Best live performers ever. Awesome band. Saw them once in New Haven, CT - 1978. Weathers and Green were wearing the same clothes as in this video! Might the date be wrong on this?
When Genesis were struggling hard to find a decent substitute to Peter Gabriel, I still believe their only choice was Derek Shulman, before finding out how Phil Collins was fit for the role.
I wouldn't be surprised if now Mike or Tony came out and told us they actually tried contacting Shulman: his voice is very close to Gabriel's, a sort of high-pitched Peter Gabriel, with Steve Winwood being very similar to it.
Where is the in´terview live in Brussels video??

Aesthetically speaking, instead, by gosh, Shulman probably knew well how he looked like Ian Gillan... he moves exactly as Ian does...

Phil managed to do that well enough, though. :-)

@220773 And what an influence on Genesis this brilliant guy would have been!!!

@Lapatusia Yep, I agree. I love Phil, let me say, but Derek Shulman would have been perfect for Genesis. :-)
