They used to show this all the time on USA's Night Flight show during the 80's,that's where I 1st remember seeing it.A really great performance,1980 and the Who still have it.
@Alexandernero666... He was shamed at the very end of his life, though that was pint-sized comeuppance compared to the atrocities he perpetrated on the Cambodian people.
I hate to say this, but Kenny Jones generally sucked butt on the drums when playing for the Who. But not here--he totally kicks ass. You all are right--he was on fire that night.
What a great version of Sister Disco. I remember watching this gig on TV, gosh I m ancient. I still have the LP. Would love to see the complete WHO performance. Simply the best band ever. Great audience with lots of younger WHO fans in MOD attire.
Jon Bonham, who was at the show to play drums for Paul McCartney, left the Who gig and told his (Bonzo's) that they had just seen the greatest rock n roll band on the planet. And Bonzo was Moonie's friend, to boot.
Best version of SD ever. Kenney was on fire. One of the few WHO fans that truly liked his style but of course Zak has proven to be the best fit post Moon.
i remember them playing this at shea stadium in 82 i loved the keyboard solo in the middle ,they had all the spot lights in the stadium light up and move around,i remember getting chills run up my arms
Great version..I think Kenny Jones got a bad rap trying to fill Moon's shoes..He's obviously a great drummer. Just not the personality that Keith was. He could never live up to the fans expectations.
Again, this was a series of concerts/ benefit where a bunch of bands played for charity. As usual, the Who steal the show. This entire concert should be available on DVD. Not the KIllburn gig that is quite poor.
Thanks to whomever posted this. I haven't seen this since MTV used to play this back in 1981! The who had edge that night. They look like they were pissed off at each other and took it out on the music which totally rocked!!!
yep, mtv played this to death, and i had to buy the "kampuchea" lp just to get this track!!! and the studio version on "who are you" is just as magnificent!!!
I saw this on MTV back in the day...is it on dvd anywhere? anyone?

It would have been sweet if they had focused on the late great John Entwistle when he was playing that badass bass part in the mid-section!
He was ignored way too much, and he was the cat that held it all together!
