I'm having a big problem and I need help! I just got a USB interface so I tried recording my windsor through the record out port. It sounded terible! Just really weak. I did some searching and found some really negative stuff about this amp.
Have you tried recording this way? I've got the feeling I'm doing something wrong...
@MagrPwnAge LOL! The Answer to both is YES! But you really need to either play it through a closed back cab, or modify the built in cab to be closed back. I would Replace the power tube with a TAD 6L6GC-STR and the Pre-amp tube with a Tung-Sol 12AX7. The cool thing with these amps is they can take nearly any tube & are very easy to change the tubes. Do a few of these small things and this amp can easily do downtuned metal.
I have a peavy windsor studio, and a fender strat, I'm not very satisfied with the sound. I can't get a good a good bass sound, which isn't very good when I'm trying to play heavy music. I think part of it's the guitar, I kinda want to get a ibanez. but I don't really have the money right now. I was doing some research and found that this amp has a low quality speaker which might be some of my problem. Do you think it makes a BIG difference in the sound using a cabinet? Thanks...
@AJY710 If you’re looking for more bass and a heavier sound you should be looking for a closed back (British style) cab. Speakers can make a HUGE difference in sound. Try a Blackheart 1x12 cab. The price is good and they sound great. I’m sure you can find some reviews on YouTube.
"Shit" does not have two "M's". "2" is spelt "due". Learn to spell. If you could read English, you might have learned this was a test of the amplifiers sound under heavy chugging. Not a demonstration of playing skills. Shame that your parents gave you a girls name. They must have been disappointed when they had a boy.
Pre-amp Volume = Gain. You are correct that there is no knob labeled "Gain". However, increasing "Pre-amp Volume" is to increase gain. The "Pre-Amp Volume" knob was set at 6/12. The master volume was set around 10/12 The power attenuator (peavey calls it the "power sponge") was almost all the way up. Around 7/8
Test 1 was using the speaker in the combo; test 3 was trying it with a 4x12 cab. Test 2 was compairing it to the JSX Mini. Tons of tests on here for all styles of playing. Just not metal. We wanted to know if it would work for metal. If your not into metal; search for other tests. ALL of this info is in the info next to the video. You understand the concept of reading don't you?
Apparently you've never heard the Train of Thought album, because John laid down some really heavy metal riffs. The term proper guitarist is a stupid term because there is no one guitarist who is "proper" when there are many other guitarist proficcient in different styles of music. No one guitarist can do it all. Except bucket head.

Proper means you arent a one trick pony who thinks that chugging on a dropped d tuning constitutes being a guitarist. John Petrucci wouldnt like his name taken in vain like this.
I got something he can't do: write an interesting song!
I kid, I kid: I just felt like being a music snob for a second.
Nice amp demonstration. The Windsor is a great amp. Throw a boost in front and it's perfect for thrash or turn the gain down and the volume up for some AC/DC style crunch!
It's all in the individual; some people think Soulja Boy is interesting music, so, nost people couldn't care less if someone doesn't like theirs or not.
Yeah, dude, I totally understand. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. It's really annoying when someone tries to tell you their opinion of a band is fact. "This band/artist sucks and if you like them you're stupid." Whatever.
Besides, playing lead and showing off doesn't tell me as much about the sound of the amp, and it's not what I play most of the time because I feel that since solos take up a fraction of a song and that I'd be more valued in any kind of musical situation if I wasn't a shred king.

I so agree! I hope to get one soon myself if my income hadn't taken a big hit lately.

Don't even try telling that to John Petrucci, or James Hetfield, or Adam Jones, or Erno Vuorinen, or me.

not much of a lead player huh?

Apparently not, but the ability to solo is insignificant to the power of the force.
