  • When i hear such a wonderful bass line as in this tune, i allways go and check who was playing, and guess what; it is Ron Carter 95% of the times.

  • Absolutely the best version of Summertime ever produced. Makes me want to sit in on a boat dock with my wife, great friends and a bottle of cognac. This coming from some nearby speakers.... That would be a good night.

  • Well, Crus72, I don't know if Reece played better than Donald Byrd; I was always pretty impressed by Byrd. But Reece sound s very nice here, I'll readily admit that. And some fine musicians, like Cecil Payne, whom I prefer over Pepper Adams. And of course the elegant Hank Jones, forever young. Thanks for posting!

  • the drums are tight.

    This set is "pure dope"

  • for me, Dizzy Reece ranks in the top dozen jazz trumpeters of all time. --bill c. PS check out the Mosaic Select 3CD 20004 rerelease of Reece's 60s work on Blue Note
